The storm outside thundered against the glass wall, streaks of water sliding down. Neon lights blurred with the storm, casting fractured colours across the polished black floor.
Inside the living room was sleek and modern sofa upholstered in dark leather, glass table with sharp edges and tall plants standing quietly in the corners. The room stank with smell of smoke and spilled liquor.
The glass table rattled as another bottle shattered on the floor. Shards stained across the velvet carpet, soaking in whiskey. "Useless..."
"Idiots! Every single one of you!" Sakyong's voice cracked like a whip as he slammed the glass on table. "I gave one order. One! Snatch that brat, and deliver his corpse to his father. Instead..."
He pointed at his men with shaking hands, veins bulging on his neck. "...you came back with empty hands, bodies of our own men and our property into fucking piles of debris."
"..."
No one dared to speak. "Fucking fuck... all of you are useless. One kid... "
Finally, the secretary who was silent cleared his throat, voice calm and steady. "Throwing tantrums like that won't solve the problem."
Sakyong was shocked along with others. "What?"
"Yes! After this mess, we need to move carefully." Secretary was composed not caring if the person in front was fuming with rage. "We need to clear head for the next step."
"Now, a fucker like you giving me lessons. Huh!" Sakyong moved closer to the secretary, Han Garam. He grabbed me with his collar, glaring at him. But, secretary was collected and still.
"What exactly you think of yourself?"
"..."
"You think taking you under my wing makes you something, Huh?"
"Don't cross the line."
"...Hah!" Secretary chuckled, darkly as he grabbed Sakyong's hand on his collar twisting it behind as he kicked his stomach. Sakyong was caught off guard and screamed. Dropping on the floor, he clutched his stomach. "You..."
Secretary crouched down, gripping his hair, "It's because of me that you are still in this position and alive. Without me, you're nothing but whining brat who was neglected, wanted to get acknowledge by his step brother."
Sakyong gritted his teeth. He tried to wriggle out of his grasp but, secretary slapped him across his face, lips tearing a little. Secretary got up and adjusted his glasses and went to sit on the sofa.
"Come! Sit there!" He motioned for Sakyong to come and sit in front of him. Even if it hurt his pride, Sakyong knew that without Han Garam things he had achieved, wouldn't be that easy for him.
He knew nothing about Han Garam. Sakyong first came to know about him was through one of his friends when he was at night club for the party. They told him about the guy who could do anything for power. He didn't cared about spotlight. He wanted to rule the world without anyone knowing him. It caught his attention.
Like it was planned, he got a message to come at Blackthorn at midnight, three days later after he got into a fight with his mother. He was already feeling worse and when he got the message, to distract himself he went to Blackthorn.
That was when he got tangled with him. Following his orders, now he had power. His rule in underground world kept growing and with time he got the whole Blackthorn under his control. Sakyong knew, this power could be taken from him the minute he decided to go against him. After all, he was nothing but a pawn in his game.
His plans were always flawless. And when Garam told him that it was time to deal with Hawoon, he was happy, burning with bloodlust. He just wanted to destroy him, by targeting his family.
But Hawoon was a powerful man. Even after losing half of his family, his wife and first son died in an accident, he was not broken. In fact, he became even stronger for his only family, his second son, Hajun who miraculously survived.
After that, it was even harder to break him, yet Sakyong was satisfied that at least he had left a scar on him. Sakyong had always been jealous of him. They had the same mother. She cheated on Hawoon's father with his best friend and Sakyong was born.
Being a bastard son, never made him acknowledged. He tried to prove himself all his life but only met with praise for his step brother.
Even his own biological father didn't wanted him that he had to stay with his mother and her husband, Hawoon's father. Hawoon was the only one who was somewhat nice to him but that didn't his hatred for him. Sakyong thought if he tried hard, he might at least get noticed by him, but all his efforts were in vain.
Living his life where he felt he wasn't belonged anywhere, the power Garam gave him got him a sense of belonging, even if he despised him. And, he couldn't afford to had this power taken from him.
Sakyong got up, burying his pride and sat on the sofa. He was embarrassed that his men had to watch his pride getting hurt.
"Tell me! What do I need to do?" Sakyoung inquired, voice lacing with urgency.
"What do you think we should do?" Secretary fired the question back at him.
Sakyong's face twitched, controlling the fire in him. "If I knew then-" He cleared his throat. That came out wrong.
"I-I mean... I can't think of anything."
"..." Secretary was staring, like he was judging him.
"Umm..." Sakyong trailed off his words. "The situation is almost out of our hands. Our main control was in Blackthorn."
"After the rampage, police will surely investigate the whole district. The son of a Commander was abducted and brought here. They will investigate every part of the district. Our gambling dens, nightclubs and the Tailor shop..."
"Tailor shop... major part of our money is hidden under its basement. If we didn't do anything before they shift their investigation to the whole district, everything will be raided. Damage would be huge."
"..." Secretary Han adjusted his tie, sitting comfortably.
"There must be a way. Think! Use your brain, damn it." Sakyong raised his voice like a child whining to get out of trouble.
"There's no way! The mess... everything would have been easy if not for that child suddenly appearing and going berserk." Secretary Han finally voiced out.
"Fuck... those bastards couldn't even done the job properly." Sakyong cursed brushing his hair back, frustrated.
"Honestly, the outcome would have been the same even if they used their magic to save their asses." Secretary crouched his back forward, placing his hand on the glass table.
"How?"
"The amount of mana that boy released," Secretary Han's voice darkened. "...It's horrifying that boy released that at such young age. Things would have been different if that boy never had appeared. But..."
"But, he had..." Sakyong completed his sentence.
"Things took a huge turn the moment that kid appeared. There's no solution out of this-"
"There has to be-"
"...except one."
"Except?" Sakyong anxiously waited for his answer.
Secretary Han smirked, maliciously. "Destroy everything!"
