Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Arrest Him

Under Mo Xian'er's questioning, Mengmeng quickly recounted everything that had happened at the clinic earlier that day. As soon as she finished, Mengmeng suddenly shot to her feet and said coldly, "That guy really is a fraud! I'm going to drag him back here and ask what his real motive is for sneaking into our household!"

She turned to leave, but Mo Xian'er stopped her with a swift gesture. "Wait! Mengmeng, don't be impulsive. This might all be a misunderstanding."

"Miss..." Mengmeng sat back down unwillingly, pouting. "Miss, how could this possibly be a misunderstanding? That guy's obviously powerful but pretends to be a useless loser. And he was even willing to marry into our Mo family. He clearly has some ulterior motive! What are you still hesitating for? We should tie him up and force the truth out of him!"

"We can't do that!" Mo Xian'er shook her head, her expression serious. "Even if he does have a hidden agenda, we have no evidence. If we arrest and tie him up just based on suspicion, isn't that too barbaric? What if it really is just a misunderstanding? How could we face him afterward?"

"Besides, don't you think it's strange? If he truly knows the Spirit-Guiding Needle, why didn't he use it to save his father when he was gravely ill?"

"You all know about the Spirit-Guiding Needle—it's a miraculous technique said to bring the dead back to life. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration, but at the very least, it can prolong life. If Ye Xuan really has malicious intentions, would he go so far as to let his own father die just to maintain his disguise?"

The room fell silent at her words. Both Mengmeng and Mengmeng wore solemn expressions. It was a good point—if he really had that level of skill, why let his own father die?

But then... how did he explain what happened today?

Suddenly, Mengmeng gasped as if something struck her. "Ah! I remember now. Son-in-law said that it wasn't the Spirit-Guiding Needle—it was the Gu-Breaking Needle, a technique specifically used to cure poison from Gu insects!"

"That makes sense." Mo Xian'er smiled slightly and continued, "If that's the case, maybe he just got lucky today and happened to encounter a patient with an ailment matching the one technique he knew. That would explain his seemingly impressive medical skills."

"Then what about telekinesis?" Mengmeng asked sharply. "Even if his medical skills can be chalked up to luck, controlling objects from a distance is something only Xuanwu Realm experts can do. But according to our investigation, he's not even in the Blood Martial Realm yet!"

"Um... didn't I say? He did it by channeling my true energy." Mengmeng explained meekly.

"That makes it even stranger, doesn't it?" Mengmeng frowned. "You can't do telekinesis yourself, so how can a useless guy who hasn't even reached the Blood Martial Realm do it just by borrowing your energy? That's too fantastical. Plus, even if you both practice the same cultivation technique, you're female and he's male—your true energy should have some differences. Yet he didn't show any signs of incompatibility?"

Faced with Mengmeng's barrage of questions, both Mo Xian'er and Mengmeng fell silent again. These were questions they truly couldn't answer.

"In any case," Mengmeng sneered, concluding, "Our son-in-law is definitely not a worthless fool. And the fact that he married into our Mo family means he must be hiding something. So I still think we should capture him before he has a chance to do anything."

Mo Xian'er furrowed her brows in deep thought for a while, then finally shook her head. "Leave this matter to me. I'll handle it."

"But Miss..." Mengmeng began to protest, but one sharp glance from Mo Xian'er shut her up. She lowered her head reluctantly. "Understood..."

Only then did Mo Xian'er's expression ease slightly. She waved her hand gently. "It's late. You both should go rest."

With obedient nods, Mengmeng and Mengmeng left Mo Xian'er's room.

Back in their own room, Mengmeng was just about to crawl into bed when Mengmeng stopped her.

"Hey! Don't tell me you're going to sleep just like that?"

"What else would I do?" Mengmeng blinked in confusion. "We're done for the night, right?"

"You idiot!" Mengmeng flicked her forehead. "We still have something very important to do!"

Mengmeng tilted her head, thinking hard, but couldn't figure it out. "What is it?"

"Of course we need to go give our dear son-in-law a little warning!" Mengmeng said coldly. "Whether or not he has ulterior motives, he still deceived us—and Miss. We've got to teach him a lesson, don't you think?"

"Well... that's true..." Mengmeng frowned and thought for a moment. "But didn't Miss say to stay out of it? If we go, she'll be mad."

"That's why you're a dummy." Mengmeng rolled her eyes. "Miss only said that because they're married. If she acts openly, it would be inappropriate. But if we wear black clothes, cover our faces, and sneak into his room to beat him up and run, he won't even know it was us. Even if Miss finds out, she won't blame us—after all, we're just helping her vent her anger."

"That makes sense..." Mengmeng nodded thoughtfully, then said, "Let's move!"

She began rummaging through the cabinets for her nightwear, but after searching for a while, she came up empty-handed. "That's weird. I could've sworn I kept my stealth outfit in here... where did it go?"

"Idiot! It's over here. I already took it out." Mengmeng looked at her helplessly, silently questioning whether bringing such a scatterbrain along was a wise decision.

But she quickly pushed aside her doubts—because she knew that if she didn't bring Mengmeng, the girl would probably go tattle on her later... and that would be even worse.
