🦋 MIRA. 🦋
I stared at Leo, I didn't know how to act or what my response should be, "Leo, we – we have been friends for twenty-five years," I murmured.
"And for those years, I kept loving you," he snapped back, "I tried to hold it back in. but I can't anymore… Give me a chance."
I jingled my head, "No, Leo, we are like siblings… we can't be more than friends."
His face turned sour, "Could you at least think about it? It took a while for me to finally summon the courage to confess this to you, I don't want to lose you."
"There's nothing to think about, Leo," I retorted, "I can't imagine being more than friends with you."
I walked away, avoiding his disappointed face, why is everything happening so fast? Why does he have to confess such a serious thing to me today of all days?
Leo ran after me, dragging me back, I was caught off guard, my mind still reeling from the conversation we had been having just moments before.
One minute, we were laughing and joking, the next, we were having a serious conversation, and now, his lips were crashing down on mine.
It happened so suddenly that I didn't even have the time to process what was happening. His hands grasped my face, holding me in place as he deepened the kiss. I felt a rush of surprise, followed quickly by a spark of excitement.
My lips, caught off guard, were initially unresponsive. But as the kiss lingered, I began to feel a flutter in my chest. My heart was racing, my senses coming alive. I couldn't help but kiss him back, my lips moving in sync with his.
The world around us melted away, leaving only two of us lost in our moment. Time stood still as we stood there, our lips locked in a passionate kiss.
As suddenly as it began, the kiss ended. He pulled back; his eyes locked on mine. A hint of a smile played on his lips. I was left breathless, my heart still racing from the unexpected kiss.
I couldn't help but wonder what had just happened. Was it a moment of passion or something more? I looked up at him, searching for answers, but his expression gave nothing away. All I knew was that I wanted to feel that spark again.
Ogling at me, he murmured, "Do you still think we can only be friends?"
I tiptoed into the house and my room, avoiding any noise that could wake any of my family. I wasn't in the mood to argue.
I crawled into my room and gently closed the door, what a pathetic way to go into your own room.
Am I a criminal?
Or am I an ex-convict?
I settled on my bed, letting the memories of minutes ago replay in my head, the sudden confession, then the kiss. That kiss.
I bit my lower lip as if I was trying to feel him all over again, jingling my head, I murmured… "Fuck friendship."
I jumped up, threw my window open and jumped off, climbing Leo's window and jumping into his room.
Advantages of being neighbours.
He had just gotten out of the shower and was drying his hair using a towel. The shocked expression on his face told me he wasn't expecting me.
"What!" I growled. "It's not the first time I've jumped into your room, why do you look so surprised?"
He cleared his throat, "Do you have something to say to me? Before you say no again, can you just think about it? I really do love you… really really do love you."
"Since when did you start loving me?" I asked calmly.
He raised his head, trying to remember, "Since we were teenagers, since that night, you slept on me because I was warm and you were cold. I know you felt nothing that night, but I was struggling to keep breathing."
"Then I fell in love with you first," I blurted out, "I've loved you ever since you came into this community… it was love at first sight. So I think I love you more than you love me."
"Huh?" he gasped, "Now you are being creepy."
"You were the one who confessed to me first, and now you think I'm creepy?" I snapped back.
"You turned me down!" he retorted.
"But then you kissed me!" I roared. "And now… I want to do it again."
I launched at him, and he stumbled backwards, "Mira, W-what are you doing?"
I gently pushed him back onto the bed, my hands on his shoulders. He looked up at me, a hint of surprise in his eyes but also a spark of anticipation.
As he settled into the softness of the bed, I leaned in, my face inches away from his. I could feel the warmth of his breath on my skin, and my heart skipped a beat in excitement.
Slowly, I lowered my lips to his, feeling the softness of his mouth beneath mine. It was a gentle, exploratory kiss, but it sent shivers down my spine.
As our lips touched, the world around us melted away, leaving only the two of us lost in the moment. I deepened the kiss, my tongue brushing against his, and he responded, his arm wrapping around me, pulling me closer.
The bed creaked softly beneath us as we moved, our bodies swaying in time with the rhythm of our kiss. It was a moment of surrender to the passion and desire that had been building between us.
As we broke apart for air, I looked into his eyes and saw the same hunger, the same desire reflecting back at me.
"We are no longer friends, right?" I whispered.
He held my hair and pulled me in again, and whispered back, "Fuck friendship!"
Leo and I are no longer just friends, as for all I see, nothing can tear us apart except for a competition when we are both trying to win. But that wouldn't be happening… because we are on the same team.

The next morning walked in too quickly, a few more hours being added to nights wouldn't hurt, and I opened my eyes only to be met with Leo's stares.
Right! I slept in his room last night.
"Hey, boyfriend," I murmured.
"What would your parents do if they check your room and not find you there?" he murmured, "I'm sure they are on their way to your room as we speak."
"Fuck! Why didn't you wake me up?" I cried out.
"You seemed to be enjoying yourself while squeezing life out of me – I was not even able to sleep," he retorted.
I pouted, "Should I not do it again then?"
"No!" he snapped back. "You should do it every second of our life together, hurry to get to your room before your parents beat you to it… we shouldn't be late for training."
"Right," I nodded obediently, "See you, boyfriend."
That morning, I wasn't served breakfast, my two sisters and parents ate, and when I looked at the dining table, mine wasn't served, and neither was there any spare food.
I took a deep breath and walked out of the house, it was a normal routine, whenever my mother was mad at me, she wouldn't count me among the family therefore, my potion wouldn't be part of the meal she prepare.
I walked into the training hall, and I could hear whispers and blame that immediately died down when I walked into the hall.
Our coach walked towards me, "How could you show your face here after embarrassing our team and our country like that? Thanks to you… our team was kicked out of the national team," he yelled, "Playing drunk?"
"I wasn't drunk, I…"
"You were what?" he screamed, "You were joking around until you made us lose our spot? You weren't even attacked when you fell. You were defending without an attack, and you say you weren't drunk? As of now, you are no longer a part of our team – Get Out!"
"That wasn't her fault, Coach," Leo interrupted.
He looked at Leo, "Leo, you are our only hope, you won last year, please do it again. Renew our worth, which Mira made us lose."
Leo paused his lips, and then I knew… the battle line had been drawn.
I turned to leave, trying so hard not to collapse. Then I heard Leo's voice. "I can't do that, sir. I can't, and I won't! If Mira is kicked out of the team… I leave, too."
