One night, after a successful performance of your musical recital, you and your crew decided to have a little celebration to commemorate such an event. However, Y/n had better things planned tonight with a special freckled man beneath a sky scattered with stars and circus lights. As Y/n went to their usual spot, she found Mike sitting atop the high platform, legs dangling, eyes lost in the dark of the still nght.
"Surprise, surprise you aren't late today hm?" You chuckled at your remark of a sudden change in Mike's tardiness yet it seems like he was ignorning you—well more like the blonde boy hadn't heard you.
"My I sure would love to know what's on the mind of my gloomy faced friend" Y/n said sarcastically at Mike.
Mike waking up from his trance heard the remark and he replied carelessly as he scoffed playfully at you.
"Nothing much, just—unimportant things..."
"If it was so unimportant why the long face?" You asked curiously as you sat down beside him.
Mike just stared at you from his peripheral vision, refusing to reply.
"Fine, if that's how you want to play then fine." You replied exasperatedly as you glared at him from the side and he showed nothing but a small grin.
Minutes passed by as you and him let the comfortable silence envelope the both of you, no thoughts, no actions, no conversations. Just pure comfortable silence as you both stared at teh dark sky, that is, until you decided to break the silence.
"You've been awfully quiet and shy these past few weeks Mike, is there something wrong?"
"Is there supposed to be something wrong?" He retorted,
You couldn't help but sigh. Sigh.
"Do you have to act so difficult tonight?"
"Mhm." He let out but a small sound that you couldn't decipher if it was the sound of agreement or quite the opposite. Y/n couldn't help but be a tad bit annoyed.
"What? Still afraid to talk to me?" you teased gently, your voice carrying a hint of playfulness like fireflies gleaming in the dark of the night.
Mike smiled, then laughed. "Kinda—no actually—yeah....I'm still afraid you'll think I'm that crying kid from your childhood."
Y/n climbed up beside him and took his hand in hers, small and sure. "I never did and.... I never will."
For a long moment, they sat in silence, hearts beating like drums beneath the distant howl of the wind and the echo of the night.
Then Y/n suddenly spoke, "You know...I've been waiting for you to stop crying and start speaking."
Mike turned to her, eyes wide. "And what would I say?"
"You don't have to say anything," she said, leaning in closer as she leaned on his shoulder. "Just stay."
And he did.
Forever.
