Ryūsei Household.

After seeing off Hinata, who had stayed to help clean up after their meal, Ryūsei summoned the virtual panel to inspect the red glowing orb in his spatial backpack.

Gazing at this long-awaited Kekkei Genkai, Ryūsei felt an overwhelming sense of satisfaction.

Although the Byakugan no longer provided any enhancement for him after obtaining the Red Eye, Ryūsei, as a transmigrator, knew this was only the case for now.

As the origin of all ocular techniques, the Byakugan not only had numerous evolutionary branches but also possessed astonishing growth potential—provided the bloodline was pure.

The reason the Hyuga clan's Byakugan seemed so weak was precisely because their bloodline was not pure enough.

In contrast, the Ōtsutsuki clan on the moon had a far superior bloodline. Even if they couldn't awaken the Tenseigan, they could synthesize a massive Tenseigan by gathering a large number of Byakugan.

Ōtsutsuki Toneri, with his pure bloodline, only needed to transplant a pair of high-purity Byakugan to awaken the Tenseigan within a few days.

Similarly, Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo's Byakugan could mutate precisely because of his pure bloodline.

In Boruto, Uzumaki Boruto awakened the Jōgan in one eye because his bloodline had undergone an upgrade.

Likewise, as long as Ryūsei upgraded his own bloodline, the potential of his Byakugan would also rise.

By the time he achieved the Six Paths level, even if his Byakugan didn't evolve or mutate, it might still reach the level of Ōtsutsuki Kaguya—capable of killing enemies with a single glance or reading minds.

Or, like Ōtsutsuki Momoshiki, he might even gain the ability to perceive fate.

In short, one thing was certain—

Ryūsei might not need to use the Byakugan, but he absolutely could not be without it!

Standing before the bathroom mirror, Ryūsei fused with the Kekkei Genkai: Byakugan and observed the changes in his reflection.

As the red light seeped into his body, he could distinctly feel his brain secreting chakra, which then converged entirely into his eyes.

Immediately afterward, Ryūsei's pupils underwent a visible transformation.

Originally, his pupils were red with small irises.

But now, they had turned completely white, devoid of any visible pupils.

If not for the fact that his pupils were still encased within the iris, Ryūsei might have thought he was left with only the sclera.

At the same time, Ryūsei could sense that these white pupils contained energy similar to that of the Sharingan and the Red Eye.

Moreover, he instinctively knew how to activate this latent power.

Forming the Tiger hand seal, Ryūsei softly commanded, "Byakugan—Open!"

In the next instant, the veins around his temples bulged violently.

On an ordinary person—or someone unattractive—this might have looked grotesque.

But on a handsome youth like Ryūsei, the protruding veins carried a strangely captivating beauty, much like Uchiha Sasuke's cursed seal transformation.

Once the Byakugan was activated, Ryūsei's perspective shifted from the first-person view to a god-like, omnidirectional vision—just like with the Red Eye. Everything within a one-kilometer radius appeared in his sight.

However, unlike the Red Eye, the world through the Byakugan was entirely monochrome.

The only exceptions were the chakra pathways inside human bodies and the blue chakra flowing through them.

This was precisely why the Byakugan was the natural counter to invisibility techniques and genjutsu.

In this black-and-white world, a Byakugan user only needed to locate that single streak of blue to pinpoint an enemy's location.

After briefly experiencing the Byakugan's vision, Ryūsei deactivated it.

As the bulging veins receded, his white pupils gradually returned to their original red hue.

Seeing this, Ryūsei felt an unparalleled sense of joy.

Unlike the Hyuga clan or the Ōtsutsuki clan's Byakugan, Ryūsei's Byakugan functioned similarly to Uzumaki Himawari's in Boruto—it only turned white when activated and reverted to its natural color when deactivated.

This meant he wouldn't have to wear colored contact lenses all the time.

However, the bulging veins were still too conspicuous. Until he could reveal all his cards, he would avoid using the Byakugan unless absolutely necessary.

Exiting the bathroom, Ryūsei retrieved Kiba (Lightning Blade: Fangs) from his spatial backpack and began a new phase of training.

Ryūsei had no real interest in swordsmanship.

Just as a ninja who couldn't trace their lineage back to the Ōtsutsuki clan would, at best, reach the pinnacle of the Five Kage even if they developed a Kekkei Tōta, swordsmanship for shinobi had a hard ceiling at the Kage level.

Of course, that wasn't the main issue.

The real point was that once Ryūsei awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan and could manifest the Perfect Susanoo, he could unleash sword slashes on par with the great swordsmen of the One Piece world—capable of splitting mountains and cleaving the earth with ease.

The massive Perfect Susanoo didn't need intricate techniques—raw power alone would crush all opposition!

Learning swordsmanship from scratch would be a waste of time.

The reason Ryūsei wanted Kiba was that, like Asuma's weapon, it could help him effortlessly master Lightning Release chakra nature transformation.

Training with this sword would make mastering Lightning Release twice as effective.

However, Ryūsei wasn't learning Lightning Release to enhance his offense—but to compensate for his weaknesses.

His current shortcomings were defense and speed.

Until his Sage Body gained the ability for Seal-less Healing, these weaknesses could be mitigated with Earth and Lightning Release.

In the original story, Kakuzu's defensive prowess came from Earth Release techniques.

Similarly, Sasuke managed to match Rock Lee's years of effort in just a month by using Lightning Release to stimulate his cells, drastically increasing his movement speed.

After multiple successful jutsu developments, Ryūsei had also come to understand the strengths and weaknesses of Sakura's chakra control.

The advantage was that this talent allowed him to perfectly manipulate chakra, making shape transformation effortless.

But this talent did nothing to improve his nature transformation.

This was why Ryūsei could easily create chakra whirlwinds or manipulate water into spiraling dragons but couldn't directly form a Suiton: Suiryūdan no Jutsu (Water Dragon Jutsu) with his bare hands.

The same applied to Suiton: Hōmatsu no Yaiba (Water Release: Water Severing Wave).

Thus, he had no choice but to rely on external aids.

———

Time flew by, and soon, it was late June.

During this period, Team 8 occasionally gathered for missions, but they were all D-rank. Kurenai no longer took Ryūsei and his teammates on C-rank assignments.

This wasn't unique to Kurenai—Kakashi, Asuma, and even the sensei of previous graduating classes had all stopped taking their students on missions outside the village.

Because they all knew that the period from late June to early July was special.

Screeeech—!

On this particular day, Team 8 was handling village garbage disposal as usual when a piercing eagle's cry suddenly echoed across the sky.

The sound was so sharp it seemed to reverberate throughout all of Konoha.

Hearing this, the jōnin across the village halted their tasks and vanished in flashes of movement, reappearing as afterimages racing toward the Hokage's office.

Kurenai turned to Ryūsei and the others.

"Finish the mission, then disband. Meet at the usual place tomorrow."

With that, she disappeared in a Shunshin.

Ryūsei gazed at the eagle circling above Konoha, deep in thought.

Given the timing, there was no doubt—

The Chunin Exams were about to begin!
