It was raining, and two dark figures stood in a series of white lines on the floor. One was on the ground, tired and defeated, while the other was above them, victorious and standing tall.
Sunny waited for Nephis to finish him, finish him like the outskirt rat he was. He was out of energy and each breath he took only brought him closer to death. In front of him stood Nephis, bloodied and mauled from their fight. It was sad how they ended up like this, no better than monsters told in storybooks. All their friends were dead from the horrid games. Jet, Cassie, Effie, Kai, and even Mordret whom he wasn't particularly close with had died, and more.
Staring at Nephis cold silver eyes, Sunny closed his eyes in defeat and accepted his defeat.
*step.*
*step...*
*step...*
It sounded like the footsteps were getting further instead of closer. Opening his eyes he was greeted with the sight of Nephis... outside the allotted space.
"W-Why?" he breathed out raggidly.
Sunny was confused. He knew about Neph's goal, to kill the frontman and VIPs who killed her grandfather, father, and even her family bloodline. He knew she would kill anyone who stood in his way, even him and Cassie who were her closest friends... so why?
"Sometimes getting revenge doesn't mean killing the enemy. It could be a symbol, a symbol of change. When I came here, I came out of spite for the frontman and the VIPs, I was ready to kill everyone to achieve it and end the games. But... Meeting you... and Cassie... and everyone else, I realized that I would be no better than the people who run this if I kill you for my revenge."
Turning her head towards where the frontman and VIP's stood behind a glass wall. Smiling from their misery and fight before disappearing as she spoke.
"We are not like you.
We are not horses, we are humans.
And humans are..."
*BANG*
Echoed through the courtyard was a gunshot, a shot that pierced through Neph, through her heart.
Looking at him, she gave him a crooked grin before saying softly,
"I'm glad I met you Sunless, now go and find your sister."
Nephis fell to her knees as Sunny tried to get up and push through the pain of his injuries. Reaching her he laid her on her lap and held her hand as the light in her eyes slowly dimmed until they became cold... and lifeless.
Sunny cried, alone and broken, for everything and everyone. For everyone who died, for everyone who he cared about now being lifeless corpses who would never see their families again.
For Effie whose dreams as to live life free of worry and stress, eat and do as she pleases. Now her corpse lay in Dalgona, rippled with shots throughout her body.
For Kai who had tried to make it big but was crushed under the weight of being a celebrity. Someone who was full of life and able to light up the room was now mauled and face scratched to the point of no recognition from violence during lights out.
For Cassie who wanted the money to save her clothing business her parents owned. Who worked in the workshop where she designed clothing. Who died alone and afraid in the bathroom, no longer will people be able to wear clothes she designed out of love.
For Jet who closed off the world because she was the odd one everywhere. Who found solace with them and died in the solace of her friends as she bled to death. Someone who dreamt of leading people, possibly in the army or a business. Now the world had one less leader to lead it.
For Mordret who was never really understood but longed to fit in. Whose corpse was splattered across the ground on Glass Bridge, smiling as he welcomed death like the madman he was born to be.
For Nephis who was the last member of the Immortal flamed. Proud and prideful she was when she came into the games. Accepting and selfless she died on her feet, for she realized what she needed to do. To let go of her anger and vengeance to accomplish her seemingly impossible goal she made possible through her indomitable will. Accomplished she was as she bled out on the battlefield with her lover.
And for himself who was the sole survivor and witness to these atrocities that should've never happened. For he now had to carry the burden of everyone who died, died with their dreams, hopes, goals, and aspirations. All of their dreams, gone in an instant, never to be fulfilled, to be accomplished no longer. To never be accomplished for they all died for him to survive, to survive broken, saddened, but unwilling to forget them all.
"Player 456, you have won the games." The voice announced, shocked and saddened even as paramedics and police officers came in to inspect Neph's dead corpse and to arrest the higher-ups.
And as Sunny was dragged quickly out of the burning facility, with money bags slung and carried on him, and as they brought him to a bout which sailed away from the island. He looked back... back at everyone who he was leaving behind. Remembering who he was before, someone who had enough spite to cut the world, now left like a broken reflection of them... him.
And as he went to his hotel room and emptied all the cash into a container, enough to live life however he wanted. He was reminded of where the money was from, from whom it was from, and who died for the money to be here today. He took out a lighter from his pocket... and dropped it into the container. He watched the flames dance as the money burned, burnt to ashes for he had no use for blood money.
He wanted nothing to do with the money that was from his beloved star and his friends, for this was his thanks to them for giving up their lives for him. To hopefully reach them wherever they were and tell them, to tell her, "the games... have ended."
