Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 – Leap into Chaos

The wind howled with the fury of a thousand collapsing worlds. From the TARDIS doorway, the Doctor barked orders while Endeavour and Shiryu carried the unconscious inside. Usagi, though terrified, scurried along, dragging Mineta by the ankles as he remained completely out cold.

"Come on, come on, move! We don't have all the time in the multiverse! Well… we do, but not right now!" the Doctor shouted, waving his arms frantically.

Then something fell through a nearby rift. Not an object this time. A creature. A towering beast, skin black and scaled, with four legs and jaws that looked like they could chew through starship hulls. Its eyes glowed crimson—pure, concentrated hatred.

Usagi shrieked and stumbled back.

"What the hell is that?!" roared Endeavour, dropping Komatsu to square up against the beast.

The Doctor recognized it instantly, his mind rifling through centuries of data.

"Oh, brilliant!" he said with biting sarcasm. "Of course! A Void-Eater! Because the party just wouldn't be complete without an interdimensional guard dog! Fantastic!"

The Void-Eater roared, charging straight for the weakest. Endeavour lit up in a flash, flames blazing around his body, the air rippling from the heat.

"Back off, monster!" the hero bellowed.

The Doctor leaned against the TARDIS frame, pointing like a mad conductor.

"Endeavour! Listen! That thing feeds on residual energy! Normal fire won't stop it, it'll just make it hungrier! You need to overload it until it collapses! Blue fire—everything you've got! Maximum blast or whatever you call it!"

Endeavour growled, the heat rising until blue flames crackled at his hands. The beast recoiled for the first time, roaring in fury.

Meanwhile, the Doctor dashed back to the console, eyes darting over the readings. Then his face lit up with manic realization.

"Oh, of course it is!" he slammed his palm against the wood. "Primary anomaly's a hundred meters out—just behind that storm! Because why wouldn't it be?! My life is one long, flaming disaster in a trench coat!"

He spun back to the door, fastening his coat as he ran.

"Doctor!" Usagi cried, panic in her voice. "Where are you going?!"

"To save the day, as usual!" he called with a grin. "Don't start without me!"

The TARDIS rattled as another rift tore open. Pieces of buildings, trees—even cars—floated through the air, swept up in interdimensional currents. The Doctor spotted a chunk of metallic wreckage drifting past and leapt onto it.

"All right, Newton—don't let me down now!" he yelled, springing from debris to debris like an acrobat at the end of the universe.

The Void-Eater's roar shook the void. The Doctor glanced back just as the beast launched itself at him. He had time for one word:

"Oh no no no no—!" before a massive burst of blue flame swallowed the monster mid-air.

The creature hit the void screaming, burning in azure fire. Endeavour landed beside the Doctor, smoke curling off his chest, eyes blazing.

"You're welcome," the hero growled.

The Doctor grinned, panting. "Wow. Do you always make entrances like that, or is this just for me?"

Endeavour didn't smile. "Where's that anomaly?"

The Doctor jabbed a finger toward the swirling maelstrom at the heart of the white expanse.

"Right there. And if we don't stabilize it soon, it's going to swallow not just this place—oh no—it's going to swallow everything. Fancy saving the multiverse with me?"

Endeavour didn't answer. He just ignited his flames, hotter than before, and nodded once. The Doctor beamed.

"Knew you'd say yes. Let's go dance with chaos."

Together, they launched toward the storm's core.
