Chapter 494 - Chapter 494: Obito and Rin

Ever since Madara Uchiha was reincarnated through the Impure World Reincarnation technique, although Anya had no interest in participating directly in the battle, her clone had already arrived at the scene. Thus, she observed the entire confrontation between the Five Kages.

Overall, Madara's strength was remarkable — practically unmatched beneath the Six Paths level. Fighting against the Five Kages simultaneously, he remained completely composed; judging solely from combat experience, they weren't even on the same level.

Minato remained under medical treatment for an extended period, so it was normal that he was overwhelmed facing a formidable opponent like Madara before fully mastering his new powers. Upon discovering that the Rinnegan could absorb chakra, Minato adjusted his tactics accordingly, employing the Flying Thunder God Technique to locate weaknesses. For a time, the battle truly reached a stalemate.

Meanwhile, Sasori, preparing to re-enter the fray, was stopped by Anya.

"Big Brother Kurotsuchi," Sasori said, "in my heart I've always dreamed of creating an incredibly powerful titan-like creation. This so-called great villain seems far too weak to be your worthy opponent. Until now, I've struggled to find suitable materials. When he's no longer useful, leave his corpse to me."

Anya gave a slight smile and nodded in agreement. "Sure. It's only appropriate to entrust his body to you."

"I'm off, Big Brother Kurotsuchi. I need to go to the seaside."

Anya looked puzzled. "The seaside? What for?"

"Just a precautionary measure. If something unexpected happens, I'll flood the land with seawater and return everything to the dawn of time — the world as it once was, before civilization." Sasori's gaze was firm, clearly not joking. After Anya abandoned her trump card — the Kekkaijin: Pot of Poison Jutsu — Sasori chose to pursue an even more radical plan for world destruction.

Anya chuckled silently. "Alright then. If I fail after planning for so long against someone who's been dead for years, then losing would be well-deserved."

After Sasori left, Anya approached Terumi Mei to examine her injuries using chakra. Fortunately, she hadn't sustained serious wounds — after all, it was only a Susano'o from a shadow clone, which had limited destructive power. If she'd been struck by a Complete Form Susano'o, the situation might have been far worse.

"How are you?" Anya asked after reviving her.

Terumi Mei, recovering from critical condition, looked toward Madara with fear in her eyes — the gap between them was simply too vast.

"I'm okay," she replied hesitantly. "Anya, can we really win this?"

"Let me take you somewhere to recover first. You've done your part. Leave the rest to me."

Anya's calm tone carried such strong self-confidence that Terumi Mei felt significantly reassured, closing her eyes as she leaned into his embrace.

Another shadow clone moved to Samiu's side. Her injuries were far worse than Terumi Mei's — taking direct hits from Madara's Complete Form Susano'o in hand-to-hand combat. Without the protection of Infinite Armor, her body likely would have collapsed entirely from that last attack.

Injecting Medical Ninjutsu into Samiu's body quickly restored her consciousness. Just as Anya was about to lift her to safety, Samiu tightly gripped her Taiyang Blade, determination unwavering in her eyes: "No, I won't leave. This is my battlefield."

That girl's lost her mind. Her true strength had only barely reached the Kage-level threshold. In this battle, if two main forces hadn't absorbed most of Madara's attacks, she wouldn't have lasted this long.

After all, she had become his woman. Anya persuasively advised, "Your battle has already ended. Let me take you away from this battlefield."

"No, only by facing the ultimate life-and-death crisis can one truly unleash the full power of lightning. Now that I've become Raikage, I must stand my ground to the end. Ever since you gave me that name for my blade, I've believed in it—I am the sun, I will..."

Before Samiu could finish her passionate declaration, Anya had already severed her central nervous system. He scooped her up in his arms and left the scene.

"Guys like that always die young—but damn if they aren't attractive anyway," Anya muttered, with a glint of admiration in his eyes.

Soon, only Minato and Onoki remained on the battlefield, barely holding their ground.

Minato sensed something. With a quick Shunshin movement, he arrived beside Anya and asked, "Who are those two approaching?"

Anya replied casually, "Madara Uchiha's archenemy. Leave things here to them. You and Onoki are both seriously injured—Lady Tsunade is on her way. Go get healed by her."

Minato immediately understood. "So it's them?"

Seeing Anya nod affirmatively, Minato no longer hesitated. He took Onoki and departed together. Anya's shadow clone also dissolved into thin blue smoke.

Suddenly finding himself without an opponent, Madara Uchiha paused for a moment, then sensed something as well. His expression lit up with excitement—this chakra, yes, it belonged to that person.

As the immense chakra drew near, Madara stood at a cliffside high above and excitedly declared, "I've been waiting for you for a long time, Hashirama."

Transported here via Tobirama's Flying Thunder God Technique, Hashirama sensed it as well. "Madara, who would've thought we'd meet again after our deaths."

"Come on, Hashirama! I want to fight you properly!"

Hashirama sighed helplessly, scratched his head, then clasped his hands together. "Then let's begin, Madara."

"I'm coming, Hashirama."

Watching this scene from afar, Anya's Shadow Clone couldn't help feeling slightly awkward. There was something off about this fight—was it getting… a little too emotionally charged?

Was it okay for Tobirama, the ultimate third wheel, to just stand there?

Meanwhile, after finishing his conversation with Ko Shang, the real Anya rushed toward his destination. At the same time, Obito, now wearing a white mask, had learned the whereabouts of Naruto and Killer Bee. He headed straight toward the pair.

"Stop right there."

Anya arrived first, blocking Obito's path.

With just one glance, Anya frowned, unable to resist asking, "Where did you get that Rinnegan?"

Obito sneered, "Do you really think I'd tell you?"

In the Naruto world, only a handful of people were known to possess the Rinnegan. Anya pondered briefly and quickly formed a guess, his expression turning odd. "Don't tell me—you dug up Hagoromo's coffin?"

Obito countered, "Hagoromo? Who is he?"

"Just some old guy who's been dead for ages. And yet, ever since you obtained the Rinnegan, your confidence has grown significantly," Anya said, eyes gleaming with amusement.

Obito's gaze flickered. Six puppets appeared around him—one for each of the Six Paths (Rinnegan).

Anya glanced around and recognized a few. They were all transformed from Tailed Beast Jinchuriki—some were even former hosts. She couldn't tell whether Kabuto had provided them or if this person had dug them up himself.

"I have no interest in fighting you. I came here today just to ask one question." Anya remained calm, not even drawing her blade as Obito's killing intent gradually increased.

Obito's eyes flickered with conflicting emotions. Even with the Rinnegan, facing this person still offered slim odds of victory. After a brief hesitation, he responded, "What do you want to know?"

"During the Nine-Tails' rampage, when you killed my master and mistress, did you feel any regret?"

A single, casually spoken sentence sent a storm of emotions raging through Obito's heart.

"You..."

"Don't be surprised. I've met Madara Uchiha before. During that mission years ago, I was secretly protecting you all, so it wasn't difficult for me to figure out it was you."

Upon hearing this, Obito burst into maniacal laughter, his entire body trembling violently. He angrily demanded, "So then? You were powerful enough back then too, right? Those Iwa ninja would've been nothing to you. Master Minato entrusted us to your protection, yet from beginning to end, where were you? Why didn't you show up at all?"

This response indirectly confirmed his identity. Anya's eyes showed neither sorrow nor joy as she stated, "Once you're on the battlefield, you've got to be ready to die at any moment. I'm not your babysitter. In such chaotic times, how many people could guarantee their own safety and survival?"

"Yeah, this is a terrifying world, an utterly hopeless and worthless hell. That's why I don't regret anything," Obito said darkly. "You already know about the Moon's Eye Plan—you know that already. A genjutsu world isn't necessarily a bad thing. Reality is too cruel; it only deepens our inner emptiness. Ninja are cursed beings themselves. In the world I desire, everyone will only need to wish for what their hearts long for, and they'll obtain everything they want within this illusion. The void inside your heart will also gradually get filled."

After saying this, Obito's calmness flickered again. "You've awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan too. Surely you've experienced pain yourself. Your view on this world should match mine exactly."

Anya couldn't help but sigh, "It seems experiences truly make a person grow. My first profound impression of you was when you performed the [Fireball Jutsu] and almost choked on a candy."

The calmness in Obito's eyes flickered slightly once more. "Please don't remind me of those past memories. I absolutely don't regret the path I've taken so far. In the genjutsu world I created, everyone will be reborn, and all unattainable wishes will become reality."

"I'm not here to persuade you, Obito. Someone else will try to talk you out," Anya replied while activating a barrier that enveloped the space around both of them.

Rin Nohara, who had mastered the [Soul Body Technique], materialized beside Anya in physical form. She had heard every word of their conversation and now stood there, her voice trembling with tears as she asked, "Is it really you, Obito? What exactly have you done all these years?"

Obito froze, his eyes wide with disbelief at seeing Rin Nohara suddenly appear.

Tsunade rushed without stopping toward the battlefield. As the leading Medical Ninja in command of medical support, she had already learned the situation — an unprecedented great battle was underway. As the greatest Medical Ninja, she had to reach the battlefield as soon as possible to assist the Five Kages in defeating the one who had once been Tsunade's grandfather's greatest enemy.

After running just a short distance, she saw Anya approaching, carrying the Mizukage Terumi Mei in her arms.

"This is a clone. I'm low on chakra. She's badly injured — she's hurt bad, I'll leave her to you."

Without hesitation, Tsunade immediately activated a medical ninjutsu and began healing. "Good, there's no fatal wound. I can heal her quickly. Anya, how's the battle on the front lines going? Without the Mizukage, how do we counter his Fire Release?"

Before Anya could reply, another of her clones arrived, carrying an unconscious Samiu. "This one is more seriously injured — she needs emergency treatment."

Tsunade extended her left hand and pressed it against Samui's chest, beginning treatment on both patients simultaneously. Her face filled with worry as she spoke, "Both the Mizukage and the Raikage are critically injured. What about the remaining Three Kages? And you? Don't push yourself — Madara's power is unlike any enemy you've ever faced."

Hearing the deep concern in Tsunade's voice, Anya felt a warmth in her heart and cheerfully replied, "Don't worry, I'm fine. All Five Kages have withdrawn. Madara has found a new opponent. As for me, I'm off to deal with that fake Madara Uchiha. This Fourth Great Ninja War will be over soon."

"Opponent? I can't think of anyone who could possibly stand against him aside from my grandfather."

"Exactly — it's your grandfather."

Gazing at the silent, speechless Obito, Rin Nohara floated forward gracefully, disbelief filling her eyes as she shakily reached out to remove his mask.

The moment her hand touched the mask, Obito recoiled as if struck by lightning, stepping back frantically while screaming hysterically, "No! It can't be! You can't be Rin! I saw it with my own eyes — back then I was there, I saw Kakashi's Lightning Cutter pierce through your heart! I understand now — it's an illusion! Anya, you despicable coward, you're deceiving me with genjutsu!"

Rin wiped her tears and spoke slowly, deliberately, "Obito, you grew up living with your grandmother, so you often helped the elderly, which made you late. When we entered the Ninja Academy, I helped you prepare your enrollment documents. At the graduation ceremony, you were late again because you were helping others. I kept your graduation scroll and handed it to you personally. I told you — I would always watch over you. Obito, even now, do you still not have the courage to take off your mask and face me?"

Hearing those words, recalling memories only the two of them should have shared, Obito finally realized — this was real. Rin wasn't dead. She was alive and standing right before him. Then what had he done all this time? His heart began to crumble, his mind falling into chaos, a bottomless darkness swallowing him whole. It felt as if a vast, unbridgeable chasm had opened between himself and Rin — deep, unfathomable, and impossible to cross.

"Obito," Rin stepped forward again, coming to stand directly in front of him.

"No… don't…"

Obito slumped backward, his body weak and drained of strength, retreating with lifeless eyes: "This isn't me, Rin... I can't let you see me like this. I'm sorry... truly sorry. I never wanted this... I..."

Obito struggled to speak, his heart breaking with sorrow too deep for words. Facing Rin seemed impossible in this moment. He chose to escape. Kamui activated, space warped around him, absorbing his body into the void until he vanished completely.

Rin Nohara stared blankly at the spot where Obito had disappeared. After a long while, she softly asked Anya, "Big brother, what has Obito done all these years? How is Konoha now? Please tell me everything."

Anya hesitated, then softly replied, "It's better if you don't know."

Smiling gently, Rin shook her head, "No. Kakashi, Obito, and I were teammates. Master Minato once said, a team of three shares honor and disgrace as one. If he committed wrongs, I will redeem his sins."

"Fine then, let me tell you one by one."

Thanks to Rin's current Soul Body Technique, uncovering this information wouldn't be difficult. Anya proceeded to recount everything—starting from the Nine-Tails' rampage, the Uchiha Massacre, manipulating the Mizukage to enforce Kirigakure's brutal Blood Mist policy, then later orchestrating Akatsuki Organization's collection of Tailed Beasts, and instigating the Fourth Great Ninja War. Each of these acts was an unforgivable crime in the eyes of the entire Ninja World.

After listening, Rin remained silent for a long time.
