"The first question: you're facing an intelligence report and a group of enemy ninjas. What should you choose?"
"Prioritize obtaining the intelligence report."
Not a bad answer. Seems like Guy actually used his brain for once.
"The second question: after successfully obtaining the intelligence report, if the enemy ninjas ask about your origins, how should you respond?"
Not exactly the textbook answer, but it works.
Anya continued asking, "The final question: if the enemy ninjas won't let you leave with the intelligence report and keep pressing you, what should you do?"
Excitedly, Guy struck a pose and said, "That's simple! Taste my Leaf Strong Whirlwind!"
As he spoke, Guy delivered a spinning kick, confidently waiting for a response, only to find that Anya had already vanished without a trace.
Guy muttered in confusion, "Did I pass or not?!"
Unknown to him, Anya was filled with regret. She couldn't believe what had gotten into her to even think about recruiting Guy into Anbu. It was a terrible idea.
After several Shunshin movements, Anya arrived at her new residence. Sighing, she realized this place was where she had spent the longest time with Tsunade—the so-called Luxury Mansion, which was in fact a Regular Prison Cell.
Now Anya fully understood the truth about this mansion. Regarding their relationship, after all, it would always be her who owed more.
Walking down the familiar path to her old room, everything inside was neatly arranged, exactly as she had left it. But of course, years of abandonment meant a thick layer of dust had settled.
Anya approached the bed and fell flat onto it. As memories of their past together surfaced, weariness filled her mind, and she closed her eyes.
She awoke the next afternoon. After freshening up, Anya grabbed the Blade of Indifference and headed to the training ground to practice basic sword techniques. Her body had become quite stiff after being confined in the Laboratory for so long.
The fastest way to strengthen one's power is through combat. Locked up for three years, Anya hadn't advanced much. The first time she fought against the Kazekage, if it hadn't been for the Kazekage's body being weakened by poison techniques, it would have been hard to tell who would win.
Ever since participating in the Third Battle, Anya's strength had skyrocketed, reducing her combat weaknesses to a minimum. Her strength had reached its peak. However, reaching a peak often meant hitting a bottleneck; without some extraordinary opportunities, she might remain at this level for a long time.
Anya wasn't in a hurry. With the storyline remaining largely unchanged, she still had plenty of time left. Madara Uchiha's pawns and plans had already been exposed, and whether he could even resurrect himself was questionable. As for other Kage-level opponents, she truly feared none.
With the Blade of Indifference dancing in her hands, [The Supreme Blade] simultaneously slid from its sheath behind her back. Sword Lights surrounded her body, flickering randomly. The Sword Intent and sharp edges moved in disarray through her hands, even showing glimpses of the flow and vitality of the wind. After infusing Lightning Release chakra, it produced a sound like roaring wind and thunder, raising a cloud of dust across the sky.
Konoha Style Sword Art indeed had its unique strengths. While training in the Basic Sword Techniques, Anya had a sudden inspiration to incorporate the sword style used by Tobirama. The power was impressive, and even within her own Eight-Blade Sword Techniques, some of its essence could be found.
Training completed, Anya returned her sword to its sheath and exhaled a breath of impurity. Her body relaxed into a warm, pleasant state.
"Knock knock knock..."
Someone was at the door.
Anya's eyebrows lifted slightly. She had only just arrived two days ago—how could anyone possibly know this place was taken? Was it Red?
Putting on her mask, she opened the door. A common villager, unfamiliar to her, held out a kunai and smiled, saying, "Anbu member, hello. Our weapon shop is running a promotion offering free kunai—please take this one."
Such good fortune? This shop must be quite wealthy, Anya thought briefly before casually accepting the kunai and closing the door.
A while later, the knocking came again. Anya glanced at the kunai lying nearby, her eyes sharpening. Naturally, there was no such thing as a free meal in this world. So who had come knocking?
Out of curiosity, she opened the door once more.
"It's you, Nian Nian," Anya said in surprise. "I can't believe you found me here."
Standing at the doorway was indeed Nian Nian, the same man once threatened by Sasori. Calmly meeting her gaze, he replied, "I run a ninja tool shop. I know most of the shinobi in the village. Besides, Anbu members are few in number. Hiring some villagers to deliver tools is enough to gather details on each Anbu member. So it wasn't hard for me to find you."
Hearing this, Anya gave him a new look. "I underestimated you. Please come in."
Although this shop owner was just an ordinary man, his mind was far sharper than average. No wonder he had managed to run the ninja tool shop. After all, being a ninja supply merchant was never something an average person could pull off—anywhere.
As soon as he entered, Nian Nian dropped to his knees, attempting to bow deeply.
Anya was quick to stop him. "No need for that. Speak plainly. Considering your intelligence, I'll help you if it's within my ability."
Encouraged by her words, Nian Nian spoke with excitement. "Then could you ask your friend to release my daughter?"
"Your daughter? Taken by Sasori?" Anya asked in shock again.
"Yes," Nian Nian replied firmly. "None other than him."
"That doesn't seem right," Anya frowned slightly. Sasori had already left some time ago, and left alone at that. There was no way he had kidnapped a child.
Nian Nian's face twisted slightly with bitterness before he decided to speak frankly. "Ever since you last left my shop, in fear that you or others might use my daughter against me again, I secretly sent her to another safe location. I made contact every few days, and everything was normal at first. But now, over ten days have passed without a single word from her."
Anya understood immediately. Nian Nian had overcomplicated things—leaving his daughter in Konoha would have actually been safest. By moving her, he'd inadvertently drawn Sasori's attention, and her capture wasn't surprising.
Anya reassured him, "Don't worry. I've already made it clear to my friend not to harm the child."
Nian Nian relaxed slightly and quickly said, "May I ask your friend to return my daughter? Don't worry, I will comply with all your demands."
"Fine. Just wait here for my message."
Anya acted without hesitation but had her line—she would never involve innocents like wives and children, believing no one should drag a family into this.
Sasori's method was understandable, though ultimately unnecessary.
Without a word, Anya stepped out and made her way straight outside the village to their rendezvous stronghold. Important intelligence would be passed through this location via undercover agents embedded there. Unfortunately, all undercover agents Sasori had planted in Konoha had already been captured by Red.
As a former Head of Anbu, Genzo was currently the only one who had successfully deceived Red and escaped from Konoha.
Luckily, all these undercover agents had cursed seals implanted within their bodies. If captured and faced with interrogation, they would instantly self-destruct, just like the Anbu of Kiri, leaving no risk of causing further trouble.
