Master Gen clearly sensed Anya's emotional shift and said to Terumi Mei, "Girl, let's go. Let him rest properly."
Terumi Mei glanced at Anya a few more times, looking reluctant to leave, but finally nodded and said, "Alright."
After they left, Anya checked his physical condition. It was much better than expected—his broken bones had been wrapped and stabilized with bandages, while injured internal organs were nourished by a gentle medicinal force. So it seemed they really had saved him and even administered medicine. The effect of the medicine was obvious; otherwise, he estimated he might have needed several more days or even weeks before regaining consciousness.
He gathered chakra in his body and used the green medical ninjutsu to heal his wounds. Soon, Anya sat up, removed all the bandages, and began full-body treatment. At this moment, he couldn't help but feel grateful that Tsunade had forced him to learn medical ninjutsu back then. Otherwise, if he'd been bedridden for ten or fifteen days, who knew what kind of trouble his teacher would have faced in Konoha.
After some time treating himself, his strength gradually returned. The worst pains had finally eased up—he could stand and walk without much trouble, though exerting himself remained a struggle.
Anya summoned the Wooden Bull Puppet from his wrist and started searching through the intelligence scrolls stored inside. His teacher had marked the scroll with a unique method, so it would stand out. Unfortunately, after a thorough search, none of the scrolls matched. Clearly, that particular piece of intelligence wasn't among them.
Though he half-expected this, Anya still felt a wave of disappointment. Combined with his current injuries, his mood sank to its lowest point. He almost wanted to grab a blade and charge into Mist's Anbu headquarters again.
No, I must stay calm. The more anxious I become, the more likely I am to mess things up. Anya took a few deep breaths, trying to steady his racing thoughts.
Since I can't find the intelligence I need, I might as well look through these. Considering they're kept here under Anbu guard, they probably contain bits of information unknown to me.
Anya first opened the scroll sealed with a sealing technique. After reviewing several scrolls, his expression suddenly changed—Master Gen appeared in these documents, each one containing a detailed description of him.
Master Gen, an elder-level figure from Kiri's Elder Council, essentially controlled nearly all affairs in the Hidden Mist Village. Important village matters always required consulting Elder Fukasaku, and when the Mizukage was unavailable, he even had the authority to issue orders on her behalf. Considered the uncrowned king of the village, he held extreme prestige and power.
If that's true, then the woman who kicked me must be someone like Tsunade back in Konoha. Otherwise, there's no way she could act so freely in front of him. Anya's expression darkened, his mind racing, because this intelligence report presented a massive opportunity—one potentially capable of completely resolving his current predicament.
In the end, Anya sighed, having made a difficult decision.
After putting away the Wooden Bull Puppet, Anya stood up and walked toward the water cup on the table. Then, pretending to lose his footing momentarily, he heavily stumbled to the ground, producing a dull thud.
"Clang..."
The door swung open. Terumi Mei, who had been waiting outside, rushed in the moment she heard the noise from inside the room. Seeing Anya collapsed on the ground, she hurried over and helped her up, scolding gently, "Didn't I tell you it would take more than ten days before you could walk again? Why didn't you listen to me? You've even taken off the bandages already. Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Anya was drenched in cold sweat from the pain. Her pale complexion turned even paler, and her dark eyes revealed a stubborn determination.
"Thank you, but I figured I could handle it myself."
Being so close to him, Terumi Mei could feel the heat coming off Anya's body, which made her cheeks flush slightly. After helping him back onto the bed, she said, "You better stay lying down. Try not to move too much."
"I'm fine. I can sit up. I'm a Medical Ninja, and I took off the bandages just now to heal myself."
As he spoke, [Green Medical Ninjutsu] glowed softly on his hands.
"Oh, really? So you're a ninja too. What are the odds?" A gleam of excitement flashed in Terumi Mei's eyes as she happily asked, "Oh, by the way, I don't even know your name yet."
"My name is Oub."
Terumi Mei repeated the name softly a few times, curiously asking, "Oub? What an odd name. How did you end up falling into the Dark Current?"
Anya chuckled gently with a soft voice, "Well, as a Medical Ninja, I need to collect herbs. There was one herb that could only be harvested deep at the bottom of a lake. And then...unfortunately..."
"Oh, I see. You're so unlucky, hahaha." Although Terumi Mei laughed, a flicker of sympathy passed through her eyes. Just as she was about to say something else, her hand was suddenly grasped by Anya.
Slightly puzzled and now blushing, Terumi Mei stared wide-eyed at Anya, seemingly asking what he was doing.
Then Anya said with deep affection in his voice, "I like you. Let's get married."
"Mar...Marry?" Terumi Mei thought she must have misheard. Her face suddenly flushed red, and her voice became flustered as she responded, "You...You don't even know my name, and you want to marry me?"
"Does it matter?" Anya replied emotionally. "I like you, the person. Your name isn't important at all. Even if your name was Fido or Whiskers, I'd still like you the same."
"That's mean. I'm not called Fido or Whiskers." Terumi Mei pouted cutely. She felt her mind spinning. Never having experienced anything like this before, she tried to pull her hand free, though the effort seemed more like playful resistance than real. Her tone had begun to soften, "But we've only known each other for less than a day."
"When you meet the right person, one glance is more than enough. Don't you think this is fate?" Anya tightened his grip on her hand and pressed further, "It just so happened that I got injured and appeared before you, and you were the one who saved me. At that moment, you were absolutely gorgeous."
"You...You saw everything?" Terumi Mei blushed so hard her neck turned red, her head practically wanting to bury itself into her chest.
Anya let go of her hands and extended a finger to lift her chin. His other hand went around her shoulders, pulling her into an embrace. He found her lips and kissed her deeply, pouring every ounce of passion into the kiss.
Terumi Mei clearly had the strength to push him away, and deep inside her mind a voice kept reminding her that she shouldn't do this. Yet even though her mind was clear, her body moved entirely on its own. She stood there dumbfounded, lost in Anya's passionate kiss, the world spinning around her. Her lips grew warm and tender as she surrendered completely to the moment.
All thoughts of their brief acquaintance and the doubts surrounding his identity were cast aside with that single kiss. Holding his warm, breathing body close, Mei found herself falling for him.
Mei's eyes fluttered dazedly after they parted, her voice caught in her throat. A delicate allure shimmered in her gaze.
Anya gently took her hand again, placing it over his heart. He looked at her lovingly and whispered, "Can you feel how fast my heart is beating? I'm waiting for your answer."
Finally, Mei took a deep breath and gave her definite reply: "Then... let's get married."
