Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: The Sudden Appearance of a Tailed Beast

When the four arrived at the battlefield, the conflict had already reached its boiling point.

Seeing this, excitement surged through them. Minato immediately took the lead, preparing to charge in.

Anya stopped him with a shake of her head, signaling the group to quickly submerge underground and stealthily approach the fighting zone. However, after moving for a while, they were forced to stop. This time, Konoha was facing off against ninja from Iwagakure, and their Earth Release techniques were by far the most devastating among the Five Great Nations. Their jutsu had already reshaped the underground terrain beyond recognition. If the group continued forward recklessly using Earth Release, they risked being buried alive.

Seeing that infiltration was no longer possible, Anya leapt out from the earth, quickly finding a hiding place before turning to the other three and saying, "The battlefield is a mess right now. Both sides are hell-bent on killing each other. Rushing in recklessly would mean certain death. Let me first find my teacher and clarify the situation before deciding where to strike."

With that, Anya transformed into a black shadow and slipped toward the battlefield's perimeter.

One glance revealed an utterly chaotic scene—everywhere was filled with battling ninja. Both sides had each deployed approximately 500 fighters. Picture over a thousand ninja unleashing their jutsu at the same time—the spectacle was incredible.

The battlefield swarmed with movement—nobody dared to stand still for more than three seconds. The ground was strewn with corpses and scattered body parts.

Among the chaos were clearly some Genin used merely as cannon fodder. Their faces had turned pale, their entire bodies trembling. Many stared blankly, unable to react, while others vomited where they stood. These inexperienced rookies were quickly swallowed by the chaos of war.

Anya spotted White Fang's figure right away. Right now, he was completely surrounded by eight burly men. Not a single gap existed in their formation. It was clear these eight ninja were expertly skilled in their jutsu, working together in perfect sync. They carried sealing tools, forming a sealing formation around White Fang. Thick layers of rock covered their bodies. While White Fang managed to suppress them, he couldn't finish them off quickly.

Anya was shocked when he saw this—he knew just how powerful White Fang was. How could these eight ordinary men manage to trap him like this? And yet, the opposing Tsuchikage hadn't even moved yet.

As Anya pondered this, the battlefield situation suddenly changed. The Iwagakure ninja, who had previously held the advantage, suddenly seemed to receive an order and collectively began retreating. Some even rushed to pick up one or two severely injured allies before fleeing rapidly, constantly looking back with contemptuous glances at the Konoha ninja—an obvious act of provocation.

The Konoha ninja, however, were already consumed by bloodlust. Their minds were driven by rage, focused only on wiping out the enemies before them. Many of their comrades had already fallen in this conflict. Though uncertain about why the Iwa ninja had suddenly retreated, their deep-seated hatred instinctively drove them to chase after their foes.

"Don't pursue," White Fang, still trapped within the encirclement, still had the presence of mind to see the battlefield clearly. His immediate reaction was that something was wrong. There was no way he'd allow these rage-blinded ninja to recklessly charge ahead. He shouted at the top of his lungs.

Unfortunately, the battlefield was in complete chaos. The clashing of weapons, the impacts of ninjutsu, and the screams of Ninja drowned out White Fang's voice. Occasionally, a few Ninja heard his warning and hesitated briefly, but seeing their teammates charging ahead, they continued forward with the tide.

At this critical moment, White Fang no longer held back. His tanto emitted a faint jade glow as he positioned it at his waist, his body slightly crouched. He scanned the battlefield coldly and shouted, "Die!"

A lightning-fast arc slashed through the endless void. Limbs flew and blood rained down silently. The formation that had trapped White Fang shattered instantly beneath this single blade strike. The eight Ninja, once known for their incredible defense, could no longer withstand the attack and fell lifelessly to the ground.

White Fang's momentum did not stop. He leaped into the air and slashed downward once again.

At this moment, the entire battlefield focused on White Fang's blade. A deep fissure stretched across the ground in front of the Leaf Ninja's advance. Everyone stared with stunned eyes at this god of death.

The Iwagakure Ninja finally understood why the Tsuchikage had told them to immediately abandon their mission if they encountered the Leaf's White Fang. He was even more powerful and terrifying than the legends described.

"Leaf Ninja, halt immediately! Anyone who dares to take another step forward will die!" White Fang's cold voice echoed out, spreading across the entire battlefield.

The Leaf Ninja heard White Fang's voice and suddenly felt clearheaded. They looked at the deep trench before them and felt a chill run down their spines, instinctively stopping in their tracks.

From a distance, Anya watched White Fang's devastating strike in awe. It seemed White Fang had finally unleashed his true power. Until now, he hadn't used his full strength, probably holding back in case the Tsuchikage appeared. However, current circumstances no longer allowed him to hold anything back.

On the Iwa Ninja's side, those who had previously fought against White Fang recovered first. But under White Fang's full-power strike, five of the original eight had already died. One remained severely wounded, his leg broken, effectively ending his career as a ninja forever.

A hot-tempered man immediately lifted the ninja who had lost a leg and shouted, "Dan, you must hold on! Our comrades are dead. They're counting on you to take revenge!"

After shouting, he glared at White Fang with icy hatred and said, "Leaf's White Fang, our Iwagakure and your Leaf will never make peace!"

White Fang glanced at him coldly, saying nothing. He angled his tanto sideways, its edge pointed directly at the remaining three, issuing a silent challenge.

"Damn it."

As the other two prepared to charge forward, the injured man with the broken leg stirred awake and firmly grabbed them, saying, "Don't be reckless. Don't forget the Tsuchikage's orders. If this mission fails, I'll never forgive you — even from beyond the grave."

"Dan…" The remaining two had red eyes, and even these iron-hard men were shedding tears.

"Don't speak anymore. We're leaving." The two nodded simultaneously. Without hesitation, they picked up their severely injured leader and prepared to depart.

"Hmph. Thinking you can just walk away."

White Fang snorted coldly and darted forward. These eight opponents fought in perfect coordination, acting decisively with skilled ninjutsu. Facing such foes, White Fang had no reason to hold back.

Considering the possible traps ahead, he decided to chase alone. Even if there were traps, who in this world could stop him from leaving if he wanted to go?

This wasn't arrogance, but confidence forged in endless battles, seas of bloodshed, and mountains of fallen foes.

"Clang!" A blade aura surged forth. White Fang's sword aura pulled the remaining enemies into its sweeping range, attempting to cut them all down at once. Just then, a loud roar interrupted his attack. Following it came an enormous shadow cloaked in dense mist. The trembling earth proved this was no Genjutsu, but a monstrous beast with a massive body.

No, not just one.

"Roar! Roar! Aaaaaaarrgh..." Two different shockwaves formed a tangible wall of pressure, surging toward White Fang like an unstoppable tide. Two immense, inhuman chakra presences quickly condensed their power into a highly concentrated chakra sphere, firing directly along White Fang's pursuit path, even engulfing the three escaping Iwa ninja caught within its range.

Anya's pupils contracted violently—this was a Tailed Beast Ball, and not just one, but two.

Iwagakure actually possessed two tailed beasts, both targeting him now. White Fang found himself cornered.

Remaining calm under the Tailed Beast Balls' lock-on, White Fang sheathed his tanto. His tanto flared brilliantly, carving a graceful arc. His entire being merged perfectly with the blade, heaven and earth—standing between heaven and earth, he seemed to embody all existence itself. His tanto transformed into a massive, tangible blade aura, clashing head-on with the two incoming Tailed Beast Balls.

Anya stared in shock. Blocking a Tailed Beast Ball with a sword? Are you serious?!

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The violent collision shook the entire earth. The already ravaged ground endured another powerful impact. Flat terrain reshaped by forces beyond human limits, forming chaotic ruins and jagged cliffs.
