Chapter 10 - The unexpected couple

Luna smiled softly, and Alex immediately blushed before starting the car. The silence in the car grew deeper… and deeper… until it was almost unbearable.

Then came the funniest moment. Alex, desperate to kill the silence, decided to turn on the radio. The speakers suddenly blasted:

🎵 "I'm a Barbie girl, in the Barbie world…" 🎵

Luna burst into laughter—real laughter, not the polite fake one she usually gave. It was the kind of laugh that made her eyes sparkle. For the first time, Alex saw her laughing so freely, and his heart skipped a beat.

She smiled. She laughed. I made her laugh, he thought, butterflies swirling in his stomach.

Soon they reached the apartment where they had stayed the night before. They had to prepare some things for the project, so they headed to the supermarket. Luna took charge, filling the basket with sketch pens, colors, and sheets. Their colleagues tagged along, sneaking in chips and chocolates when Luna wasn't looking.

After two hours of chaos (and some hilarity when Alex dropped an entire box of markers all over the floor, making everyone stare), they finally returned home.

During the project-making, Luna leaned close to show Alex how to shade properly. Their hands brushed, and both froze for a second. Alex pretended to cough to hide his blush, while Luna quickly flipped her hair like nothing happened—but inside, her heart was racing.

By the time the project was completed, both felt proud… and oddly closer. Later, Alex dropped Luna home. That night, Luna lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, replaying every little moment with Alex—the laugh in the car, the brush of hands, his smile. She could feel something… love. But she denied it. After Max had betrayed her, she was terrified of opening her heart again.

The next day, Luna submitted her project and to her delight, she won a trophy. Alex, seeing her triumph, was overjoyed. Later, in his office, Luna thanked him sincerely across the table. For a moment, their eyes locked, and both felt the unsaid words between them.

Days passed. Both wanted to meet again, but neither could find a reason. They were in love—yet in denial.

Then fate gave them one.

Alex's secretary organized a grand royal party to celebrate his recent legal victory in a harassment case. But there was a twist—the party was couples-only. Alex panicked. Who will I take?

Then the answer came to him: Luna.

The next day, Alex drove his sleek black BMW to Luna's university. Dressed in a sharp black outfit, he leaned against the car, looking effortlessly handsome.

Luna walked out, wearing her crisp uniform—a black mini-skirt, white shirt, tie, and ID card dangling. She had a book in one hand, her hair in a messy bun, and an accidental elegance that made Alex's heart skip.

When their eyes met, Alex couldn't help but blush. She's… beautiful.

"Hi, Luna," he greeted warmly.

She smiled back.

That evening, Alex took Luna out for a simple dinner—not exactly a date, but it felt special. Midway through, Alex asked nervously, "Would you… come with me to the party?"

Luna hesitated only for a moment before agreeing. Alex's grin said it all—he was thrilled.

Just then, the waitress serving them giggled. "You two look like such a cute couple! The owner said you get a discount."

Both froze, then blushed furiously.

"We're not… a couple," Alex stammered.

"Ohhh, just friends, huh?" the waitress teased, winking before walking off. Moments later, the restaurant owner came by, smiling. "Couple or not, you two fit perfectly together. Discount granted."

Luna and Alex exchanged shy smiles, cheeks turning pink. Somewhere deep down, they both knew… the world already saw what they were still trying to deny.
