Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: 1x04 - Preggers- Part 5

CUT TO: INT. HUMMEL BASEMENT.

Kurt sat at his vanity mirror, misting his face with a skincare spray before working the product in with a pink sponge.

"Nighttime skin care is a big part of my post-game ritual," he said lightly.

Burt came down the stairs, hands shoved in his pockets, and nodded.

"Well, I don't know what to say about that," Burt admitted, "but... I was really proud of you tonight, Kurt. I wish your mom could have been there. I mean... alive."

"Thanks," Kurt said softly.

Burt turned to head back upstairs, but Kurt's voice stopped him.

"Dad?"

Burt turned back, giving Kurt his full attention as the boy stood up.

"I... have something I want to say. I'm glad you're proud of me, but I don't want to lie anymore. Being part of Glee Club and football... it showed me I can be anything. And what I am... is... I'm gay."

"I know," Burt replied simply.

Kurt blinked. "Really?"

"I've known since you were three," Burt said with a small smile. "All you wanted for your birthday was a pair of sensible heels. I guess I'm not totally in love with the idea, but if that's who you are, there's nothing I can do about it. And I love you just as much. Okay?"

Kurt's lips curved into a relieved smile as Burt pulled him into a hug.

"Thanks for telling me, Kurt."

Kurt nodded and sat back at his mirror.

"You're sure, right?" Burt asked.

"Yeah, Dad. I'm sure."

"I'm just checking," Burt said before heading upstairs.

CUT TO: INT. ELENA'S LOCKER / WMHS HALLWAY.

Elena was spinning her locker combination, pulling out a couple of textbooks. She shut the door and turned to find Finn standing there.

"Hey," Finn greeted, looking nervous but sincere.

"Hey," Elena said, forcing a smile.

Finn reached into his pocket and pulled out a frayed, faded baby blanket.

"Here. It's my gee-ge. My dad gave it to me the day I was born. It's the only thing I had to remember him by. I used to cry without it, took it everywhere, so... yeah, it's a little dirty. But I want our baby to have it."

Elena's breath caught. The gesture was so heartfelt it made her chest ache, guilt twisting in her stomach. The baby wasn't his, and he didn't know.

"Finn... thank you," she said quietly.

"I'm gonna do everything I can to be a good father," he promised.

Before Elena could answer, Quinn and Puck strolled up. Elena's smile faltered and she shifted uncomfortably.

"Hey, guys," Puck greeted, smirking. "How you doing? You know, lately I've been getting really sick in the morning."

"Must be a virus," Quinn said with a forced tone.

Puck's eyes flicked to Elena. "Hey, are you putting on a little weight? You should watch your carbs. They're not gonna be able to hoist you to the top of that cheerleading pyramid much longer."

Finn stepped in sharply. "Hey. Don't talk to my friend like that."

"Puck, shut the hell up," Quinn snapped, glaring at him.

Puck raised his hands in mock surrender. "You know what? You're right. I was out of line. See you guys around." He walked off without another word.

Quinn reached toward Elena, maybe to offer comfort, but Elena instinctively leaned toward Finn instead. Quinn's expression faltered, a flash of hurt crossing her face as she looked away.

CUT TO: INT. WMHS HALLWAY.

[Elena is still at her locker, her hands lingering on the books inside as if she's stalling. Her face is tense, eyes distant—she's replaying every messy conversation of the past week. The sound of approaching footsteps snaps her out of it. Brittany slips in on her right, looping her arm through Elena's, while Santana steps in on her left, leaning casually but effectively blocking her from walking away.]

Santana's tone is steady but serious. "We need to talk. Just us. No Quinn."

Elena narrows her eyes. "If this is about convincing me she was right—"

"No," Santana cuts in, shaking her head. "We had nothing to do with Quinn telling Finn the baby's his. That was all her."

Brittany nods. "Yeah. We'd never do that to you. We just want to be here for you."

Elena's guarded look falters. "You don't have to get dragged into this mess."

"Too late," Santana says, folding her arms. "I'm still scared to let people know about me, or that I'm gay. But if this baby's mine—then screw it, I'll come out. I'm not going to hide it."

Brittany's smile is warm and sure. "I don't care who knows. Even if the baby isn't mine, it's still one of ours. I'd be proud."

Elena's throat tightens. "You guys have no idea what that means to me. I've felt so alone in this, and now... someone's finally willing to stand up for me."

She exhales slowly. "Sue knows I'm pregnant. She took me to get a test—turns out she's friends with my guardian. She's not kicking me off the Cheerios, but she's moving me into an assistant role so I'm safe."

Santana raises an eyebrow. "Sue actually looking out for someone? Didn't think I'd live to see that."

Brittany nods. "I'm glad she's not making you quit. Even if you're not out there flipping and flying, you'll still be part of us."

Elena adds, "When Sue asked who the father was, I didn't answer. Our secret's safe for now. But soon, we'll need to go to the hospital for bloodwork to find out who the biological parent is."

Santana hesitates. "What about Quinn?"

Elena's voice cools. "I'm not acknowledging her right now."

Without another word, she shuts her locker, and the three of them head down the hall. Santana and Brittany exchange a quick look, then fall into step beside her as they make their way toward the hospital—Quinn nowhere in sight.

Alright — here's the Sue's Corner portion rewritten so it matches the same third-person, natural spoken-word style, and flows directly into the choir room scene you just approved.

CUT TO: INT. WOHN NEWS ROOM.

Sue sat at her desk in the WOHN news room, staring directly into the camera as an instrumental version of "Taking Chances" played in the background.

"You know," she began confidently, "there's a question I get asked a lot. Whether I'm accepting an honorary doctorate or performing a citizen's arrest, people ask me, 'Sue, what's your secret?' Well, I'll tell you my secret, western Ohio."

CUT TO: INT. WMHS CHOIR ROOM.

Will walked in with Puck, Mike Chang, and Matt Rutherford at his side. The rest of the Glee Club was already seated.

"Hey guys!" Will said warmly. "Let's give a big Glee welcome to our three new members fresh off their big win on Friday night – Noah Puckerman, Matt Rutherford, and Mike Chang. Regionals, here we come."

Elena made her way over to Mike Chang. She smiled warmly, wrapping her arms around him in a hug. "Mike. You showed up."

Mike smiled back. "Elena, yeah I am excited to be here."

Across the room, Quinn, Santana, and Brittany exchanged tense glances. Jealousy and unease flickered in their eyes as they watched Elena in someone else's arms.

CUT TO: INT. WOHN NEWS ROOM. CONT

Back in the WOHN news room, Sue continued her broadcast.

"Sue Sylvester's not afraid to shake things up."

CUT TO: INT. WMHS CHOIR ROOM. CONT.

In the choir room, Will clapped his hands. "Let's start today with 'Tonight' from West Side Story."

Rachel's eyes lit up. She nodded eagerly, already picturing herself on stage.

"Tina, show us what you've got," Will said.

Rachel's smile vanished in an instant. This was not the solo she had been waiting for.

CUT TO: INT. WOHN NEWS ROOM. CONT

On the news, Sue's voice was steady and sharp. "You know, I'm tired of hearing people complain, 'I'm riddled with this disease!' or 'I was in that tsunami.' To them, I say, 'Shake it up a bit! Get out of your box! Even if that box happens to be where you're living.'"

CUT TO: INT. BACKSTAGE.

Sandy painted a set piece for the musical. He looked up as Rachel entered. "I thought you had Glee practice, my little multi-tasking star."

"I quit," Rachel said without hesitation. "I'm yours exclusively."

CUT TO: INT. WOHN NEWS ROOM. CONT.

Sue's voice came back over the WOHN broadcast. "I'll often yell at homeless people, 'Hey! How's that homelessness working out for you? Give not being homeless a try, huh?'"

CUT TO: INT. BACKSTAGE. CONT.

"'Maybe This Time' in B flat?" Rachel asked Sandy.

CUT TO: INT. WOHN NEWS ROOM. CONT

Sue went on, "You know something, Ohio? It's not easy to break out of your comfort zone. People will tear you down, tell you you shouldn't have bothered in the first place."

CUT TO: INT. HUMMEL BASEMENT.

Kurt sat at his mirror, sighing as he worked a pink sponge over his skin.\

CUT TO: INT. WOHN NEWS ROOM. CONT

On TV, Sue's voice was unwavering. "But let me tell you something. There's not much of a difference between a stadium full of cheering fans and an angry crowd screaming abuse at you. They're both just making a lot of noise. How you take it is up to you."

CUT TO: INT. SCHUESTER APARTMENT.

Will lay awake in bed, watching Sue's Corner while Terri slept beside him.

"Convince yourself they're cheering for you," Sue said, raising her hand to form the letter C. "You do that, and one day... they will. And that's how Sue sees it."

Here's the added ending scene you requested:

CUT TO: INT. ELENA'S APARTMENT – NIGHT

The apartment was quiet except for the faint hum of the refrigerator. Elena sat at her small kitchen table, a single envelope lying in front of her. Her fingers hesitated over it for a moment before she tore it open, pulling out the folded pages inside.

Her eyes scanned the paternity results, reading the clinical lines over and over until the words sank in.

One set of DNA matched Santana Lopez.

The other set of DNA wasn't a match to either of the samples given.

Elena's brow furrowed, confusion swirling in her mind. She flipped to the second page, reading the explanation.

Case of Heteropaternal Superfecundation: twins with different fathers.

Her mouth fell open. "Twins...?" she whispered, stunned. The reality hit her—one baby was Santana's, the other... was Quinn's.

She leaned back in her chair, the papers trembling slightly in her hands. "How the hell do I tell them this?" she murmured to herself, the shock settling deep in her chest.

She set the letter down, staring at it like it might change if she blinked. But the truth was there in black and white, and there was no taking it back. Slowly, she reached for her phone, dialing a familiar number. When the line picked up, she took a breath. "Hi, Val... we need to talk."

On the other end, Valentina's voice carried a hint of curiosity. "What's wrong? You looking for another job?"

Elena shook her head even though Val couldn't see her. "No. I, uh... I took your advice and did the most common teenage thing to do in high school."

There was a pause before Val replied, half-guessing, "You joined the Cheerios?"

Elena gave a small, dry laugh. "Well, yeah, but that's not it. Oh, and I also found out why you sent me to this crap town. You know a Sue Sylvester, don't you?"

Valentina let out a short breath of amusement. "Maybe I've heard the name. Why?"

"I even asked Sue about it, and she told me she knows you," Elena said flatly.

Val gave a knowing chuckle, her tone edged with familiarity. "Let's just say she has her own ways of keeping an eye on you."

"Yeah, well, that's not all," Elena added, her voice dipping into something more serious. "Val... when you pulled my medical records, did it say if I ever actually went through the graduation ceremony?"

Val's tone softened, a rare edge of sadness slipping through. "Yes. After you escaped and I found you at ten years old, I made you get a full physical. And... it showed you did go through the graduation ceremony."

Elena's eyes widened. "Then how am I pregnant now?"

There was a sharp pause before Val swore. "What the fuck?"

Elena leaned back, voice dry but laced with disbelief. "Yeah... I had a foursome with three intersex girls, and now I'm pregnant with twins. Different baby daddies, Val. Or maybe baby mamas? And before you say anything—yes, I know how insane that sounds."

Val groaned on the other end, muttering about how only Elena could end up in a situation that sounded like the plot of a soap opera before asking if she was absolutely sure about the results.

Elena confirmed she had the report right in front of her, no doubts about it. She added in a wavering voice that she'd already told the girls one of them was the other parent, which was why they'd had the tests done in the first place. Elena admitted she had no idea she was having twins at the time, and the realization broke her composure. Her voice cracked as she began to cry softly over the phone.

Val swore again under her breath and told Elena they needed to work out a plan for breaking the news to Santana and Quinn before anyone else heard about it, especially given how sensitive the situation was.
