The Espada fell silent, their arrogance crushed.

"No way… Kenpachi can use Shikai?!" Gin's fox-like smile froze.
The notion that Kenpachi, the "King of Flat Slashes," relied solely on reiatsu and brute force was a Gotei 13 consensus. Yet here he was, calling out a Shikai release.
"It's surprising, but a good sign," Aizen said, his eyes burning. "If even Kenpachi can break through, the future holds infinite possibilities—like the Hōgyoku."
His confidence surged. If Kenpachi could evolve, so could he, surpassing the limits of Shinigami and Hollow with the Hōgyoku.

"Woo-hoo!" Yachiru pounced on Kenpachi, giggling. "Kenny, huge news! You awaken your Shikai in the future!"
"Congrats, Captain! No more plain slashes!" Ikkaku grinned.
"I can't wait to see your Shikai's power!" Yumichika buzzed with excitement.
"Ha, a surprise indeed! I didn't expect my Zanpakuto to awaken!" Kenpachi laughed, thrilled at the prospect of enhancing his combat joy.
"But… Nozarashi? Sounds weird. What kind of power is it?" Ikkaku mused.
"It's tied to the wielder's nature," Yachiru said, wagging a finger. "Nozarashi's gotta be a direct-attack type!"
As the golden reiatsu faded, Kenpachi's notched Zanpakuto transformed: a massive blade, a polygonal guard, a white-wrapped hilt, ten times larger than Ichigo's Zangetsu. It was a colossal butcher's cleaver.
"Ha…" Kenpachi roared, warlust blazing. "Visionary kid, this is my first Shikai. Hope your meteor's tough enough!"
With a casual swing, he slashed. The massive strike pierced the heavens, slicing the meteor in half like tofu.
The King of Flat Slashes, one swing, one kill.
