The guy is rich rich, as I expected. He has my pearl. He has an expensive mansion. Though, I am sure selling my organs would bring more.

Humans always research in many ways. Mostly, inhumane. A mermaid like me? They would be over the moon to have me.

But! I didn't expect his friends to actually drop me at his house! They brought me here, mistaking me as someone who is in love with their friend.

They are enjoying this. Thinking that their "icy fiend of a friend" is getting chased and would soon yeild. I neither agreed with them not disagreed. Let them think what they want while I get whats mine and leave forever.

The staff here, wearing a white shirt with an apron on, grey hair tied back into a bun, let us in without question. I mean, why wouldn't she? They are friends of his.

But that was not the problem. The problem was this guy's identity. My pearl holder is an Evander! How bad can my luck get?!

Groaning I walk to the old lady, the one and only staff left at this time in the house and the only one who let us in. Well, at least, I think she is the only staff here.

I hope no one else is.

"Hello." I said. "Do you know where Mr Evander is?" I asked hopefully. She nodded and looked upstairs.

"Young master is in his bedroom. That door-" She points towards the third room on the right side of the stairs. "Is the one you are looking for."

She smiled at me gently and guilt washed me head to toe. I was taking advantage of her. And Evander's friends. But I don't have a choice. I will take what I can.

"Thank you." Nodding, I walk up the stairs and knock on his door.

No reply.

I try again and again but no luck.

Has he fallen asleep? Yes. It is quite late. Eleven p.m. Though, I doubt he would be. As far as I have seen, the Evanders don't sleep or can't sleep because of insomnia.

What's the case for this young cold one? I don't blame him for being cold. Being rude was my fault. And I am not entitled to his time. But I am entitled to my pearl. My powers. My hope to survive in the future.

I know again and again. And when the old lady gives me a strange look I just smile, try to, and then open the door and slip inside. Closing the door behind me, I sweep my eyes through the room.

A big bed with silk white covers. Two big curtains cover one side of the wall. Between the curtains and the bed is a nightstand on which is a lamp emitting soft amber glow.

In front of the footbaord is a small cushioned stool in red and golden brown. Then, there is a carpet and a table with a pc on it.

One the other side of the bed is a door. Probably of the bathroom. On the other side of the bathroom, right beside the door is a potted plant and beside it a dressing table.

The mirror covered. I wonder why. Doesn't matter, I frown. That's not what I am here for.

I walk to the bathroom door slowly and quietly. My footsteps muffled further by the red carpet. I may not be as strong as I should be, but in front of a mere human? I sure am.

All I would need to do is open the bathroom door, bind him, take my pearl, lay him and tuck him in bed and finally leave. My job here will be done.

As soon as I touched the door's handle, the door opened and I turned invisible. My insides burned hot. As if I would die. Shit.

Quickly, I dash soundlessly and hide behind the curtains and undo my invisibility spell. I shouldn't have done that! I suppress a groan of pain. Invisibility is close to intermediate magic, darn it.

I was caught off guard. If I had known he was coming, or if I hadn't been lost in my own thoughts, I would have stayed, binded him right there and taken what was mine.

Cursing myself in my mind, I hold still. Feeling him move around since I can't see him. He turns towards and walks close to the curtains as I press myself harder back against the glass panes.

I hear him drinking water, putting the glass down and finally tucking himself in bed. Slowly, I release my breath. No wonder I felt stuff. I hadn't known I had stopped myself from breathing.

Letting a few minutes pass, I walk out and, "Sleep well." Put a spell on him. He should sleep lest everything gets foiled. I cough of blood and double over, holding onto the edge of the bed.

I shouldn't have used the invisibility spell, I scolded myself while wiping the blood off of my mouth.

I touch his forehead, and then his chest feeling for my pearl. Good. Time to get you back. But then Evander turns, grunting, he holds my hand and pulls me onto the bed.
