Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: The CEO vs. The Wild Intern

Lu Zeyan had never regretted hiring someone before.

Until now.

He stared at the glass office window, watching Xu Yinyin in the marketing department. She was trying to balance a pen on her upper lip while typing with one hand.

And somehow… laughing at her own joke.

His phone buzzed. A text from his assistant:

"She's early for once."

He frowned. Early? Impossible.

But five minutes later, she walked into his office, plopped down in the chair across from his desk, and said, "Don't worry, I didn't break anything today. Yet."

He gave her a blank stare. "What do you want?"

She held up a folder, then slid it across the table.

"Campaign ideas. You said to bring them by noon. It's 11:57. I'm early. Please notify the authorities."

He opened the folder, expecting glitter or panda doodles. Instead, his brows furrowed.

It was… good.

Smart angles. Creative storytelling. Unique approach. And annoyingly, kind of brilliant.

He flipped a few more pages, silent.

"Don't look so shocked," she said, spinning in the guest chair. "I'm crazy, not incompetent."

He looked up sharply.

"You're not on the marketing team."

"I know." She grinned. "I overheard your plan in the elevator yesterday. So I stayed up all night redesigning it. You're welcome."

"You eavesdropped on a confidential strategy meeting?"

"Oh, don't be dramatic. I was eating crackers in the corner. If you didn't want people hearing, you shouldn't speak loudly in moving boxes."

He stared at her. "And you think this is normal behavior?"

"No," she said proudly. "I think it's effective behavior."

He closed the folder slowly.

"You're chaotic."

She tilted her head. "And you're boring."

"I could fire you."

"You could," she said, standing up with a stretch. "But then you'd be back to working with robots who worship you and dare not sneeze in your presence."

She started walking toward the door.

"I don't need to be worshipped," he muttered.

"Oh?" She paused. "Then why is your chair literally taller than everyone else's?"

She winked. "Bye, Boss Zeyan. Don't miss me too much."

The door closed behind her with a soft click.

Lu Zeyan sat there for a long moment.

Then looked at the folder again.

There, on the last page, written in the corner in pink ink:

"P.S. The world is too stiff. Someone has to stir the pot. Might as well be me. 😘 – Yinyin"

He rubbed his temples.

This woman was going to drive him insane.

And yet… he hadn't thrown the folder away.

Not yet.
