*Chapter 12: The Unexpected Invitation*
As the days went by, Sophia found herself getting more and more comfortable in her role as Alexander's girlfriend. She had started to enjoy the luxury and attention that came with it, but deep down, she knew it was all just a facade.
One day, Alexander surprised her with an invitation to his family's estate for the weekend. "My parents are having a dinner party, and I'd love for you to come," he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
Sophia's heart skipped a beat. Meeting Alexander's family was a big deal, and she wasn't sure if she was ready. "Are you sure it's a good idea?" she asked, her voice laced with doubt.
Alexander nodded. "Yes, I'm positive. My parents will love you, and it'll be a great opportunity for us to spend some quality time together."
Sophia hesitated, unsure of what to do. But Alexander's enthusiasm was infectious, and she eventually agreed to go.
As they arrived at the estate, Sophia felt a sense of awe wash over her. The mansion was stunning, with beautifully manicured lawns and a grand entrance.
Alexander's parents, Edward and Catherine, greeted them warmly. They were charming and polite, but Sophia could sense a hint of curiosity behind their smiles.
As they sat down for dinner, Sophia felt a sense of nervousness. She knew she had to make a good impression, not just for Alexander's sake but also for her own.
The conversation flowed easily, and Sophia found herself laughing and joking with Alexander's family. But as the night wore on, she began to feel a sense of unease. There was something about Alexander's parents that didn't quite add up.
As they were leaving, Edward turned to Alexander and said, "We're glad you're doing well, son. But we need to talk about the future. Your future."

As they drove away from the estate, Sophia turned to Alexander and asked, "What's going on with your parents? They seem... intense."
