Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1 -THE WORLD BEGINS

The moon hung like a bloodshot eye over Johannesburg. On the skeletal frame of the Telkom Tower, three boys walk down the streets of Jozi going home

in their school uniform wearing a white t-shirt with a blue crest of double Lions holding up a badge with a logo inside stated GB, wearing Gray pants and black school shoes

One of them, called John, was carrying a laptop bag on his right shoulder; the other, called Meiko, was holding his suitcase-type backpack; and the other, called Ben, was carrying his normal backpack on his back.

As they laugh make jokes, not knowing shadow figures are watching over them from the telkom tower shadow figures that you can only see nine eyes that is built light a pyramid on top of the telkom tower

His crimson eyes glinted—a predator's gaze.

"Johannesburg," he rasped, voice like rusted chains. "Your ignorance is… delicious."

Behind him, an small 8 army of powerhouse beings. Their weapons gleamed: serrated blades, poison-tipped arrows, and guns carved with runes. A lieutenant stepped forward from that they were imiting, his face scarred by Rankorge fire.

"Let's burn this hive," the lieutenant hissed.

The leader raised a hand. "Patience. Let them feast on false peace first."

Below, two boys stumbled through the streets. Meiko, sharp-eyed and restless, froze. His gaze locked onto the tower. For a heartbeat, he saw him—the crimson-eyed wraith. The man smiled, then dissolved into smoke.

"You okay, bra?" John nudged Meiko, oblivious.

"…Just a shadow," Meiko lied.

But shadows don't smile.

"See what", replied John (looking at Meiko like he is crazy).

"Never mind, are you still coming over?"

Meiko said as he took another look at the tower.

"Yea bra"

"Then let's go John, but don't look at my sister."

Meiko said as he looked over to John

"Have you seen your sister?

Lately?"

John said as he looked at Meiko in he's perverted eyes.

"You asked for it."

Meiko said as clutched his right hand as he turns slowly to upper cut john

"Wait, Meiko, I was just joking."

John said in a scared voice.

Then Meiko punches john with his right uppercut and leaves John unconscious, lying on the floor.

As Meiko walked home he says to john while walking away "see you tomorrow; never mind on coming." While john was on the road's floor, he pulls up his right hand with a thumbs up and shouts out

"What a friend you are."

Then Meiko smiles and leaves as John was about to stand up, a young, good-looking man

Confronted him and said

"Hi, kid."

As John removed the dust all over him and replied, "Hi, old man."

As the old men laughs softly and replies,

"I'm actually looking for a liquor store. Do you know any?"

As he stands up straight to look at the handsome male with a fade cut and a short silky back hair and says

"Yeah, you go straight, and your first right you will see a red house."

As the men walks away, he says, "See you around, kid, and thanks for the directions."

"You're welcome, I guess."

John said as he walked away.

"I'm so late my dad is going to kill me."

As the moon was at its highest pick a strange wave moved across the whole of Johannesburg.

That night, John dreamed of war. Winged beasts clashed with soldiers in golden armor. A voice boomed: "THE RANKORGE AWAKEN. YOU WILL BE THEIR VESSELS." He woke drenched in sweat, his body humming like a live wire.

As time passed morning hits, they alarm rings then Joseph half asleep in the upper bunk of the double bed in his blue blanket and in his green boxes and says to john

"Can you please stop that bell? It's so annoying."

John didn't reply, and then Joseph says it again with a louder voice.

"Yoh, Melusi, wake up."

As John answers with a half-asleep voice on the bottom bunker bed in his green blanket and his blue pillow

"What name did you use?"

Then Joseph respond and say "Neh I meant to say john wake up and go write your test.'"

Then John lies in bed and thinks, "Why do I feel so weird? My body feels lighter, but I haven't exercised in months." He said so as he got ready for school.

"Yoh, you look like a zombie," Kelvin laughed, tossing a soccer ball at John's head.

"Says the guy who sees monsters," John shot back.

Kelvin's smile faltered. "…I saw one inside the exam hall. It had… Mom's face."

A chill swept the courtyard.
