Chapter 18 - CHAPTER 18

Xu Ciye's face was full of black lines.

How could this father and daughter be so unreliable, one after the other?

Compared to his choking expression, Lu Junhan's face remained completely impassive. Without so much as a flicker of emotion, he turned his head toward Xu Ciye and said, in a flat tone,

"She is three years old."

"No, not three years old!"

Little Loli thought her father hadn't heard clearly. Anxious, she tugged at his pants with her tiny hand, her soft, milky voice correcting him earnestly,

"Dad, it's three hundred, not three! You heard it wrong!"

When she was three years old, she was still just a fat little fish ball!

Lu Junhan ignored her, tilting his chin up slightly as he told Xu Ciye with cold indifference,

"Write it down—three years old."

Lu Li: "..."

Fine. Three years old it is.

After all, her father was only twenty-five years old.

Once the basic information was filled in, they moved into the testing phase.

The psychological evaluation went smoothly. The little girl was optimistic, kind, well-behaved, and mentally healthy.

As for her tendency toward fighting and killing—Xu Ciye didn't directly test that. He tried showing her several violent war videos, scenes far beyond what an ordinary child could stomach.

But the little Loli wasn't interested at all.

Then, based on Lu Junhan's earlier description, he found a film with a scene similar to the one in the study that day. The little girl still didn't react much.

Her courage, however, was undeniable. She wasn't frightened in the slightest while watching, though she also didn't act like she had in the study—yelling and demanding to cut off someone's hands.

Instead, she showed a marked preference for pretty dolls and cute animals.

When Xu Ciye displayed pictures of various animals, the little girl lit up like she'd just spotted a long-lost relative.

If Lu Junhan hadn't restrained her, she might have leapt right into the screen.

Especially when she saw the photo of the red koi—the official mascot of Haicheng—her eyes curved into happy crescents. Tugging at her father's hand, she pointed eagerly and chirped in her sweet little voice,

"Papa! This is Lili!"

Xu Ciye: "?"

Lu Junhan's lips curved faintly. "She was silly from watching cartoons. She's convinced she's a carp spirit."

Xu Ciye only gave a knowing "Heh," not at all surprised.

"That's actually quite normal. Kids have vivid imaginations. They pretend to be princesses, fairies… all kinds of things. Though, carp spirits are rare. She'll grow out of it once she's—"

"Father!"

Before he could finish, the little girl jumped up again, pointing excitedly at another image on the large screen.

"Dad, I saw you too!"

It was a picture of a snow wolf—pure white fur, walking alone through an endless snowy expanse. Its dark, icy eyes gleamed with a predator's sharpness, as if it might leap out of the photo at any second to sink its fangs into someone's throat.

Lu Junhan said nothing.

Xu Ciye glanced at him, then back at the proud, indifferent wolf. Stroking his chin thoughtfully, he said, "To be honest, Xiao Lili's eyesight is spot on. At first glance, it does resemble you."

He chuckled, turning to the little girl. "Sweetheart, come here. Tell uncle—what animal do you think I look like?"

They were still talking when Lu Junhan's phone rang.

He intended to hang up, but when he saw the caller ID—Assistant Chen—he simply raised a hand to signal Xu Ciye, then stepped outside to answer.

Lu Li hadn't yet decided what animal her uncle resembled. She was just about to shake her head when something caught her eye.

A small, snow-white figure padded slowly into view.

"Cat!"

Her eyes lit up instantly, and her smile bloomed.

It was a white cat with soft, pristine fur and clear blue eyes like the purest sky. A small, elegant bundle of fluff—utterly adorable.

Xu Ciye recognized the cat immediately. Its presence meant one thing: the "little ancestor" must also be here!

His peach blossom eyes narrowed sharply. He opened his mouth to warn Lu Li not to touch it—

Too late.

The little girl crouched down and scooped the fluffy kitten right into her arms.

The next moment, she was hugging it tightly, giggling with delight.

---

PS:

Three hundred years old in the heavens equals three years old on earth. So although the heroine is technically three hundred, her IQ and body match that of an earth child of three. In the heavens, immortals can live for thousands of years, so "old" is relative.

By that math, her father's real age would be… a few thousand years—a truly ancient man.

Lu Junhan: "???"

---

The little girl pressed her cheek against the cat's soft head. Her pink princess dress spread around her like a blooming flower.

Outside the open French windows, the golden rays of the setting sun spilled in, mingling with the cool summer breeze, bathing both girl and cat in a warm halo.

Lu Li looked like a tiny dream—two ponytails resting gently against her back, pale little hands cradling the white cat, her smile so pure it seemed to sweeten the air.

It was an almost surreal scene.

But Xu Ciye had no time for admiration—his scalp tingled in dread.

This was bad. Really bad.

If that volatile young master saw someone not only touching but kissing his cat, the little Loli would be in serious trouble!

And Lu Junhan wasn't even here to intervene!

Why, of all times, did he have to step out for a call now?

The young master might only be seven, but he was terrifyingly precocious—sharp as a blade, with a ruthless nature to rival Lu Junhan's. His powerful family background only made him more untouchable.

A year ago, a car accident had left him unable to walk. Since then, his temperament had grown even colder and more violent.

In the capital, no one dared provoke him.

If not for repaying his mother's favor, Xu Ciye would never have agreed to be his psychologist. He valued his life far too much.

After a year of counseling, the boy's dark, cruel personality had barely shifted—while Xu Ciye's own professional image had nearly collapsed.

And without fail, the young master always brought this cat along. He never let anyone else touch it.

Now here it was, being hugged and rubbed against by Lu Li.

Xu Ciye's heart plummeted.

Scanning the room and seeing no sign of Pei Xiubai, he exhaled in relief. There was still a chance to avert disaster.

"Lili, let go! Let go of that cat," he urged quickly.

As long as the young master didn't witness this scene, they'd be fine.

He wanted to grab the cat himself but worried it might scratch Lu Li if startled. And if she got hurt, he'd have Lu Junhan to answer to long before Pei Xiubai.

The little girl blinked at him curiously.

Squatting down, his peach blossom features twisted in anxious urgency, he coaxed, "You can't touch this cat, sweetheart. Let it go, quickly."

"But cats are so cute," she tilted her head, blinking those big, innocent eyes. "Why can't I touch it?"

"Because this cat is fierce. If you don't let it go, it might bite you!"

He wasn't lying. The white cat, aloof and arrogant like its owner, tolerated petting only in a rare good mood. In a bad one, it would swipe claws across a face without hesitation.

It looked refined and harmless, but underneath—just like its master—it was anything but.

Seeing the girl hesitate, Xu Ciye's anxiety spiked. The longer this went on, the more likely disaster would strike.
