Chapter 6 - New Recruit Camp

In the following days, the team had good luck, successively killing two Warlord-level monsters: one was an Elementary Warlord-level Black Horned Blade Sheep, and the other was a Bloodthirsty Tank, close to Intermediate Warlord-level.

Shen Ping's combat experience also accumulated rapidly. He fully integrated the blade techniques he had mastered into actual combat. The most obvious change was that some unnecessary evasive movements became fewer, and the efficiency of killing monsters improved.

In addition, Shen Ping was also looking for other ways to gain Comprehension Ability, but unfortunately, besides deep breathing and hitting targets with his blade, he hadn't discovered any others.

Of course, these two alone could still provide 6 points of Comprehension Ability daily.

On this day,

Shen Ping followed the Black Ice Squad back to the military supply base.

"Our harvest in the Wilderness Area this time was decent. That Bloodthirsty Tank is estimated to sell for a good amount of money. But the biggest gain is our new member, Shen Ping. Once he reaches the Warlord-level, our team can also venture into some big cities."

Bai Feng said with a smile.

Wang Zhan and Li Zi's eyes lit up slightly.

"I heard that there are countless Advanced Warlord-level monsters in big cities, and there's a high chance of finding lone ones. Many squads earn money like printing presses in big cities."

"Yeah, our Black Ice Squad's strength is actually enough, it's just that the Captain has always been cautious, which is why we haven't ventured into big cities."

As they spoke, anticipation showed on their faces.

Chen Ying pouted her red lips, "Big cities offer more opportunities, but also more dangers. Even God of War-level experts can fall. If it weren't for the Captain these past few years, with your reckless personalities, you two would have probably died long ago."

Speaking of this, she couldn't help but look at Shen Ping, a smile in her eyes, "Of course, it's different now. We have Xiao Shen in our team."

Shen Ping smiled and remained silent.

Chen Ying had praised him so much these past few days that he was almost immune to it.

"We'll rest at the base for three days this time, then continue. You all rest first, I'll go handle the Materials from this trip."

Bai Feng finished speaking and left.

Wang Zhan and Li Zi casually said a few words about splitting the money, then left one after another.

Shen Ping also returned to his room.

He had spent quite some time in the High Tower World this second time, even exiting a few times to eat. Now that he was back at the supply base, he could finally rest peacefully.

Lying on the bed,

he closed his eyes slightly, and with a thought, left the High Tower World.

In the real world,

it was noon.

The sun was blazing, baking the earth.

Shen Ping shook his head and took a deep breath, temporarily suppressing the information from the Devouring World in the High Tower.

Although he could go back and forth in a single thought, such convenience also made it extremely easy to confuse reality with the High Tower World.

Just like the Virtual Universe within the Devouring World, many people treated the Virtual Universe as reality, detaching themselves from real life.

"Xiao Ping, time to eat!"

At this moment, his mother's voice came from the living room.

"Coming."

Shen Ping flipped out of bed, walked out of his bedroom, and came to the dining table. Dishes full of color, aroma, and taste were laid out, which surprised him greatly.

His family wasn't wealthy. Usually, even for lunch, they only had two or three dishes.

"Xiao Ping, the New Recruit Enlistment Office called. You must report by 8 PM tonight. For the next three months, you will spend your time in the New Recruit Camp."

His father, Shen Yi, said in a low voice.

His mother, Zheng Rong, forced a smile, "Xiao Ping, hurry, eat quickly. You won't get such good food in the New Recruit Camp."

Shen Ping looked at his parents, sat down, and while eating, said, "Dad, Mom, don't worry. I'm a Martial Artist in the High Tower World. In the next three months in the New Recruit Camp, I will definitely be able to Breakthrough to Planetary Level in the High Tower!"

Shen Yi nodded, "Good, it's good to be confident. Your mother and I have also entered the High Tower, but our luck was relatively bad. With the continuous demise of our descended bodies, we can only honestly work hard in reality now."

"The High Tower World is an opportunity, and it's also the hope for us ordinary people to escape our fate, so you must seize it well!"

Shen Ping said emphatically, "I understand!"

After eating,

Shen Ping left under his mother's worried and reluctant gaze.

He took a bus, and in less than half an hour, arrived at the New Recruit Enlistment Office.

Today was the reporting day, so there were many people. Fortunately, with machine scanning, the process was quite fast.

After successfully reporting, he had a wristband similar to the one in the Devouring World. This wristband recorded his identity information and military merits, clearly modeled after the one in Devouring.

Of course, the wristband also had a positioning function to prevent some new recruits from escaping.

"Shen Ping!"

Just as Shen Ping stepped into the New Recruit Camp, preparing to follow the accommodation number displayed on his wristband to find his living quarters, a voice came from behind him.

"Li Wen?! I remember you weren't on the list?"

Shen Ping looked at Li Wen, his face showing surprise.

Li Wen's face was full of bitterness, "Don't even mention it. I didn't want to come at all, but my dad sent me directly after he found out they were recruiting. My dad said that the New Recruit Camp is pressure, but also a crucible, telling me to improve myself well during these three months."

Shen Ping's mouth twitched, and he gave a thumbs up, "Impressive, your dad has foresight."

Li Wen sighed repeatedly, "Oh right, where's Wang Can? He was on the list too, why haven't I seen him?"

"Wang Can? He entered the High Tower World yesterday, and as soon as he descended, he was at Planetary Level strength, so he's probably already gone to the special Training Camp!"

Shen Ping replied.

"No way, that kid's luck is that good?"

Li Wen immediately felt much better. He patted Shen Ping's shoulder, "Don't be discouraged, Martial Artist strength is already pretty good. Try to reach Planetary Level within these three months."

He said that, but his expression was one of not being optimistic, which left Shen Ping speechless.

"Come on, let's go to the dormitory building together."

"Let me tell you, the management in this New Recruit Camp is very relaxed. After all, most of us new recruits need to stay in the High Tower World, so we only need to spend an hour training each day."

"And speaking of training, it's actually no different from our training in the High Tower World..."

Li Wen seemed to be a chatterbox, even more talkative than Wang Can.

However, through Li Wen, Shen Ping learned a lot about the New Recruit Camp along the way. The latter's father was a military officer, so Li Wen knew more in this regard.

To put it simply, the three months in the New Recruit Camp were actually no different from attending school.

The only difference was the need to spend an hour each day familiarizing themselves with armor and firearms, as well as the types of monsters on the battlefield.

But as Li Wen said, these things were almost daily contact in the High Tower World, so for every new recruit, improvement and tempering in the High Tower World were key.

In fact, the reason the country chose schools as a source of soldiers was, firstly, that the battlefield indeed needed a large number of warriors, and secondly, to put pressure on these students who had just entered the High Tower World, allowing them to improve quickly within the High Tower World.

If they were lazy and only knew how to enjoy themselves in the High Tower World, then sorry, after three months, they would have to go to the battlefield to experience real combat.

Therefore!

From a certain perspective, the New Recruit Camp serves as a catalyst.

"303… This is my room."

He lowered his wristband, and the room door automatically opened.

Stepping inside, Shen Ping frowned. The room was pitifully narrow, even smaller than a single room in a hotel. Besides a bed and a nightstand, there was very little other space.

Sitting on the bed, his gaze quickly fell upon a notice posted on the wall.

The notice contained New Recruit Regulations, primarily reminding new recruits to reasonably plan their time between the High Tower World and reality.

"A group training in three days…"

Shen Ping memorized these regulations, then placed his spare clothes and daily necessities inside and on top of the nightstand. After that, he went to the restroom and, upon returning, immediately entered the High Tower World.
