Mei's eyes fluttered open, her head pounding like someone had smashed it with a hammer. A sharp cough tore through her chest, and warm blood splattered onto the cold stone floor. She groaned, lifting a shaky hand to her forehead. As her blurry vision cleared, long strands of crimson hair fell across her face.
Red hair.
Her real hair.
Panic exploded in her chest. "No...no, no, no!" she whispered, slapping both hands over her face to hide it.
Her heart hammered so hard she thought it might burst. The disguise was gone. The power that had kept her looking like someone else, someone she is not was shattered.
But then she heard a low grunt from across the dim room. Her stomach dropped.
Ren was sitting up on the in front of her, squinting his eyes. He froze the moment he saw her waking up. His gaze locked on the red hair spilling between her fingers, then travelled down to her pale, familiar face.
That face didn't last long, quickly it turned into confusion then anger.
