Chapter 27 - [LOM] 27: The Master of Self-Revelation

As for why other transmigrators hadn't left their mark on history... that wasn't surprising. Much of the Fourth Epoch and earlier records were fragmented, so it was possible earlier transmigrators had achieved great things that simply didn't survive in records.

Besides, people's personalities varied. While someone like Roselle was flamboyant, it was perfectly normal for other transmigrators to be low-key and avoid the spotlight.

Klein was more concerned with two other matters. First, the fate of this fellow transmigrator... the diary only covered up to the point where the Zoroast was captured by Amon, kept as a "snack" for future harvesting while secretly plotting escape. Though the diary's tone suggested they'd succeeded, the abrupt end left Klein uneasy.

Second was the description of the Zoroast family: an ancient Beyonder lineage, steeped in knowledge but fallen from grace, with a nemesis named Amon and family members choosing between Marauder, Seer, or Apprentice pathways.

"..."

This sounded awfully familiar.

He thought of his newly minted teacher, and an absurd notion crossed his mind. Could this diary be Alaric's?

But he quickly dismissed it. Alaric had no reason to let his diary circulate, and he was a Seer, not a Marauder.

"Unless Jack wrote it for fun, but why would he?" Klein mused, finding the idea unlikely. Alaric lacked a clear motive.

"Still, he might not need a motive. Maybe he just did it for amusement…" Klein reconsidered, recalling Alaric's playful demeanor during their interactions. Suddenly, it didn't seem so far-fetched.

After all, a quirky university student could do anything.

Unable to reach a conclusion, Klein didn't dwell on it. He continued presiding over the Tarot Club, sharing his newly crafted honorific name with Audrey and Alger, instructing them to try praying after the meeting.

Once the Tarot Club ended and he'd sent Audrey and Alger back, Klein frowned at the diary in his hands.

After a moment's thought, he manifested his pendulum and began a divination: "Jack Jones wrote this diary page."

The result came quickly... a negation. The diary wasn't from Jack Jones.

Klein trusted divinations conducted above the gray fog. He adopted a thoughtful expression. "So, there really is a fourth transmigrator…"

Recalling Alaric's wary yet not overly fearful attitude toward Amon, Klein had another guess. "Could Jack's attitude stem from reading this Zoroast transmigrator's diary?"

"Hmm, but even if that's true, it doesn't rule out Jack being a Zoroast himself. The two aren't mutually exclusive."

While Klein brainstormed above the gray fog, Alaric was in a faculty office at Tingen University, discussing Fourth Epoch history with Azik.

"…Mr. Azik, your knowledge is truly vast. You even know about this." Alaric said sincerely. Their discussion had yielded fascinating insights, though he wasn't sure if Azik's knowledge came from his role as a history professor or his memories as a Death Consul.

Either way, Alaric was reaping the benefits.

"Your perspectives are quite intriguing as well. They've given me new ideas." Azik said with a gentle smile. He sipped his coffee, then, as if recalling something, asked, "Are you still helping Klein investigate the Antigonus family and the Fool?"

Compared to Klein, Azik had only a mild interest in these matters. His busy schedule kept him from following the investigation closely.

Alaric nodded, smiling. "Klein's a good friend, and I'm quite curious about these things myself. By the way, I've been looking into the Abraham family recently... another prominent Fourth Epoch noble lineage. Have you heard of them, Mr. Azik?"

"Abraham…" Azik paused mid-stir, his expression turning thoughtful. After several seconds, he said, "I only recall that their ancestor was known as Mr. Door."

"Mr. Door…" Alaric put on a suitably stunned expression, then nodded as if enlightened. "So that's what 'Door' means."

"Thank you, Mr. Azik. You've cleared up some of my questions." Alaric added quickly.

"No need to thank me. I didn't help much." Azik replied with a gentle shake of his head.

Alaric glanced at him thoughtfully, then looked around to ensure the office was empty. Lowering his voice, he asked, "Mr. Azik, do you… know about mystical powers?"

Azik fell silent for a few seconds, clearly caught off guard by Alaric's bold directness. Still, he didn't deny it. "I do know a bit about the mystical world." He said calmly.

"I knew it…" Alaric's face lit up with an "I had a feeling" Expression, followed by excitement and anticipation. "I'm a Seer. What pathway are you, Mr. Azik?"

This time, Azik was truly speechless. Over the past few days, he'd noticed Alaric's naive and unworldly nature, but he hadn't expected such a reckless self-revelation.

Chuckling softly, Azik cautioned, "Don't casually reveal your sequence to others. It's dangerous."

Though his memories were fragmented, Azik knew that in Beyonder battles, information was critical. Even the strongest Beyonder could be targeted if their sequence was known.

"I'm not telling just anyone. You're not a bad person, Mr. Azik." Alaric muttered softly. "I wouldn't tell others... I'm not foolish."

"I suspect you've already told Klein." Azik said with a calm, gentle smile.

Alaric's eyes widened, and he looked at Azik as if struck by a realization. "Oh, right! You and Klein have known each other for so long... you must know about each other." His acting was so convincing it deserved an award for theatrics.
