Chapter 5 – The Forgotten King
In another dimension, I was almost done healing the wounded souls...
But then—another disaster struck.
The war machine, created to eliminate those who defy the rules, had claimed yet another life.
But this time... I couldn't save them.
Their soul had been completely shattered.
The good news? I could create a new version.
The bad news?
I'm too exhausted.
I looked at the control panel.
Only one button remained functional — the portal generator.
All the other options were now greyed out, my body too weak to use them.
I stepped out of the dimension.
I had to track down my dark soul...
Before it does something unforgivable.
---
The Greatest Prison Ever Built
A place guarded by two beings — war machines with remnants of humanity.
They didn't allow anything in or out.
Why?
Because those who tried to escape were killed — devoured as fuel.
They still held human feelings…
But they were puppets, controlled.
Silent. Voiceless.
Until today.
---
> "Haha... This is all your war machine can do?"
He threw one aside.
A sword pierced through his chest — but guilt could not be measured here.
The second guardian died instantly.
Their bodies dissolved into the void.
---
> "Stop right there! You're—"
I had arrived.
And there it was — my own dark reflection, corrupted, blackened.
He glanced at me.
A chill wind swept through the prison.
All the cell doors burst open.
But that wasn't the most dangerous thing here.
A hand touched the head of my dark self.
Crack.
He was killed instantly.
---
> "Damn it... How many times have I warned you?"
I summoned all of my souls.
The battle with the King had begun.
---
The Forgotten King
Once a noble protector of humanity.
Now — a mad, corrupted monarch, betrayed by the very people he swore to defend.
I heard prisoners scream as they were dragged back into their cells.
But the King had lost his mind.
He charged at me.
His hands gripped my head.
I resisted — summoned my souls —
But he simply swatted them aside.
His voice…
It was terrifying.
Not from this world.
A sound from the deepest pits of hell.
I didn't trap him because I wanted to defeat him.
I did it because of a promise.
Because I knew I couldn't win.
He released me.
Then vanished.
Maybe he just wanted to grab some tea?
Maybe... he was back in the game.
To face the fools who dared challenge him.
---
> "Screw it... Whatever."
I began reabsorbing my scattered souls.
As for the prisoners...
One explosion should do.
And the corpse?
I dragged it into a hidden space and absorbed the stolen powers back into myself.
That dark shell held more than any other.
---
Elsewhere...
On a remote island,
He was still eating.
All the rabbits were gone — but it was the ocean, after all.
He froze the sea and fished.
Each bite brought back fragments of memory...
But only the betrayal of his brother remained.
He had chosen to join the opposing side.
Because the one he trusted most...
Had killed him.
