Chapter 61: Judgment, Expulsion!
Shrek was in the open, while the Ten Thousand Demon King worked from the shadows.
After Shrek publicly revealed Zhou Yi's crimes, the Ten Thousand Demon King began fanning the flames from behind the scenes. According to Lin Yun's plan, he spread this evidence across the entire Douluo Continent at the fastest speed possible.
In an instant, the continent was shaken!
For tens of thousands of years, Shrek had existed as the number one academy on the continent, enjoying the same honor and status as the Spirit Hall of old—a sacred land for soul masters. The reverence and admiration for Shrek were beyond count, yet within Shrek itself such a scandal had erupted?
Those soul masters who had once been forced to drop out under Zhou Yi's oppression could no longer remain silent. They came forward with corroborating evidence against Shrek, revealing the hidden injuries they still bore from Zhou Yi's harsh training.
Parents, already furious to the extreme, erupted like oil thrown into fire.
And under the hidden instigation of certain hands, the parents suddenly grasped a traditional skill once seen among the people of America—
Protest!
"Punish the Teacher of Sin!"
"Drive her out of Shrek!"
"Return justice to the soul master world!"
"Tie up this Teacher of Sin and burn her! Let her turn to ashes in the flames and fall into eternal hell!"
"Burn her!"
Scarlet banners were raised high by enraged parents as large mobs gathered together, surrounding Shrek Academy with loud, furious shouts.
Take this, Shrek—this is the wrath of the people!
Yan Shaozhe had never imagined that revealing the truth would spark such an uproar. Even the new students, who had initially come to watch the spectacle, found themselves wavering.
They had enrolled at Shrek less than a month ago, their impression still rooted in the longing for the continent's number one academy. They had not yet been subjected to deep manipulation by Shrek's teachers, and with bloody evidence before their eyes, doubts began to take root.
Many of those around them had only joined their class after leaving Class One!
If Zhou Yi had truly been blameless, why would they have left Class One? Why would they rather transfer and start anew than remain?
Moreover, was Zhou Yi merely an exception?
Were their own teachers truly as kind and gentle as they appeared? Did they really harbor no darkness in their hearts?
In an instant, suspicion spread like wildfire. A shadow of fear loomed over this entire year of Shrek students, as the chain of distrust firmly took hold.
They no longer looked at their teachers with respect and admiration, only with wariness and guarded hearts, unwilling even to speak a word more with them.
Zhou Yi: Dimensional Foil, fire!
Those who had been in Class One turned green with fury. Especially those who appeared in the exposé illustrations, shown trembling at Zhou Yi's feet—their blood pressure soared uncontrollably.
Slander, this was slander!
And with Lin Yun's extra embellishments, even Bei Bei and Xu Sanshi were dragged in. Their classmates, who had already kept their distance, now avoided them like plague.
Zhou Yi's Dimensional Foil had struck indiscriminately, nearly attacking the entire outer court!
Already under restraint, Zhou Yi's face turned ashen, filled with despair.
"Zhou Yi, you are no longer fit to remain a part of Shrek. I, Yan Shaozhe, as the two-hundred-and-sixty-first Dean of Shrek Academy, strip you of all titles and positions within Shrek, and expel you from the academy!"
Before the eyes of the entire school, Yan Shaozhe's gaze was cold as he announced this verdict to Zhou Yi, her soul power sealed, her expression hopeless.
The thousands of watching students erupted in thunderous cheers, mixed with venomous curses against her.
"Wonderful, we have defeated the Teacher of Sin!"
"This cancer within Shrek has finally been cut out!"
"Die, Zhou Yi! You are unworthy of being a Shrek teacher!"
"You pest, you blight upon Shrek—you deserve nothing less than death!"
Those students who had once been persecuted by Zhou Yi did not bother hiding their malice. Many even pulled out rotten vegetables and foul eggs they had long prepared from their soul tools and hurled them at Zhou Yi's face without pause.
Standing amidst the crowd, Lin Yun watched the filthy objects rain down on her. A faint, inexplicable smile appeared on his heroic features.
Looking at Zhou Yi's miserable appearance—like a drowned stray dog—she no longer had a trace of the arrogance she once displayed.
The old crone's mask she had always worn had already been stripped away. Yet even so, no one felt anything for her delicate face. The only thought was to drive her out of Shrek.
Facing Yan Shaozhe's judgment, she had still wanted to struggle for her life, but Yan Shaozhe had no intention of listening to her nonsense. He turned away and waved his hand.
The two teachers restraining Zhou Yi lifted her coldly. When the stench on her body reached them, their brows twitched ever so slightly, and they used soul power to isolate themselves from the foul odor.
With her in tow, the two soared into the air and carried her out of Shrek Academy.
Before all eyes, Zhou Yi was judged and expelled, like a dead dog.
Thunderous cheers rose once again, interspersed with shouts praising the dean's wisdom.
This eased Yan Shaozhe's near-exploding mood somewhat.
"It seems the effect is not bad. Judging Zhou Yi before everyone really did restore Shrek's image. Only Fan Yu might need some appeasement." Yan Shaozhe thought to himself, then vanished from sight.
After the judgment ended, the gathered students gradually dispersed.
For them, they had come only because their own interests had been threatened. They did not want to encounter such a teacher again, and mixed with a little youthful sense of justice, they gathered here.
Now that it was over, and Zhou Yi had been expelled, they naturally would not linger further.
Humans are forgetful. Perhaps long after this day, they would recall it only as a passing anecdote, laughing it off.
But for Zhou Yi, the true judgment had only just begun.
Once outside Shrek City, the two teachers retracted their flying soul tools and casually tossed Zhou Yi onto the grass, turning to leave.
The teacher on the left paused slightly and asked, "Is it fine to just leave her here?"
The teacher on the right also sensed the many hidden presences nearby. His scalp prickled, and he curled his lips. "She is no longer of Shrek. Whatever happens next is none of our concern."
In fact, he even wished Zhou Yi would die quickly.
He knew better than anyone how painful it had been these past days, facing the suspicious and wary gazes of students who had once looked at him with such trust.
"Then let's go." The teacher on the left nodded silently. The two once again unfolded their flying soul tools and headed back toward Shrek.
