Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – Aurora Warning

Jiang Jiang woke to a stabbing chill that seemed to freeze straight into his bones. He found himself lying beside the ice coffin, the silver needles and bamboo scroll neatly arranged next to him.Beyond the dome's icy shell, the northern lights twisted like living creatures, painting the space in eerie, shifting colors.

"Not… a dream." Jiang Jiang touched his brow. There was a small, painless bump there, as if a tiny bead had been implanted beneath his skin.

When he picked up the bamboo scroll, a sudden change occurred—the ancient characters warped and twisted, transforming before his eyes into modern Chinese: Xuan Tian Medical Scripture – Volume One.Even more astonishing, the knowledge branded itself into his mind as if it had always been there.

"Xuan Tian Medical Sight—able to view meridians and internal organs; Nine Needles together—able to bring the dead back to life…"

Instinctively, Jiang Jiang looked at his left hand, focusing his attention. His skin turned transparent, revealing muscle fibers, capillaries, ulna and radius in perfect clarity. He sucked in a cold breath—his vision pierced through the ice layer, seeing the very structure of the entrance hall over ten meters away.

"Awake?" a voice suddenly sounded inside his mind.Jiang Jiang jumped, seeing Lin Nine-Needles' phantom floating above the ice coffin, more transparent than before.

"Old… sir?"

"No time. Listen carefully," the phantom said urgently. "The Dark Medical Gate has sensed the completion of the inheritance. Their people will be here soon."

"What Dark Medical Gate? What's going on?" Jiang Jiang grabbed the silver needles and scroll. "Why choose me?"

"The Xuan Tian Medical Scripture consists of nine volumes. This is the master scroll. The other eight are scattered across the world and must be gathered within eighty-one days—or else…"Lin Nine-Needles' phantom flickered violently. "Or else the spiritual meridians in your body will reverse, and you will die."

Before Jiang Jiang could question further, the entire structure shook violently.Ice crystals fell from the dome, and far away, the thrum of a helicopter reached his ears.

"They're here!" the phantom's glow pulsed rapidly. "Remember—there is a clue to the first volume at the Polar C-Station Museum in Yukon… The silver needles can heal and kill. Use them wisely…"

Before fading completely, a jade pendant shot out from the coffin, landing around Jiang Jiang's neck.

"Wear it. It will hide the aura of the Medical Sight. Now—run!"

Jiang Jiang bolted through the bronze door just as an explosion roared behind him.He stumbled through the courtyard, only to find the entrance buried in snow.In that desperate moment, his Medical Sight activated on its own, piercing the ice wall to reveal a scientific expedition team approaching.

"Help!" Jiang Jiang shouted, hammering the ice with his pickaxe. As the rescuers broke through the snow, the last thing he saw was three figures in black cold-weather gear standing behind the team, each with a silver scalpel badge pinned to their chest.

Three days later, at the Yukon Royal Hospital in Canada…

"A miracle! Surviving seventy-two hours in that environment!" the doctors marveled around Jiang Jiang's bed.

Feigning weakness, Jiang Jiang smiled faintly, but beneath the blanket, his right hand gripped the nine silver needles tightly. His Medical Sight quietly scanned everyone in the room—the attending physician's liver showed early-stage cancer; the head nurse's spine had a herniated disc; the security guard's coronary artery was blocked…

Outside, the aurora still shimmered brilliantly. But now, Jiang Jiang knew it was not just a natural phenomenon—whenever his Medical Sight fluctuated, the lights grew unnaturally active.

"Polar C-Station Museum in Yukon…" Jiang Jiang whispered the name, glancing at the discharge papers by his bed.Tomorrow, he would begin his journey to recover the lost volumes of the Medical Scripture.

And on the hospital rooftop, unseen by him, a man in a white coat watched through binoculars, a scalpel in hand gleaming coldly under the aurora's light.
