Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Rules

Ken closed his bedroom door with a soft click and leaned against it, exhaling a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. The notebook sat on his desk now, black and innocent, a grim promise etched in white:

DEATH NOTE

Even though he'd seen it countless times on a screen, holding it in reality… felt different. Dangerous. Addictive.

"Alright," Ken muttered under his breath, pulling the chair out and sitting down. "Time to see what I'm working with."

The moment he willed it, the translucent icon in the corner of his vision flared to life. A clean, minimalist interface unfolded in the air like a hologram.

Special Notice: No missions assigned. System functions as support only. Freedom granted.

Ken grinned. "No forced quests. Just freedom and incentives. I can work with that."

He tapped Manual. The screen shifted, scrolling text in neat lines:

– Points can be spent in Shop for items, skills, intel, or travel tickets.

Ken skimmed quickly, then flicked to Shop out of curiosity. Rows of shimmering icons materialized, each with tiny descriptions and absurd prices:

Shop Highlights:

Information Pack: World Timeline – 500 Points

Disposable Smartphone (Untraceable) – 200 Points

Skill Fragment: Observation Boost (LV1) – 1,000 Points

Ken whistled softly. "Two million for a revival token? Yeah, not anytime soon." He scrolled back to the top. The info pack caught his eye.

Information Pack: World Timeline – Cost: 500 PointsReveals critical plot triggers and events for the current timeline.

He didn't hesitate. "Buy."

The screen shimmered, then condensed into a glowing text block. Ken's pupils narrowed as lines of data scrolled through his vision:

Shinigami Ryuk will appear before Light Yagami within 3 days. L's investigation begins after a global broadcast. Light's first victim was scheduled for tonight—now delayed. Timeline divergence confirmed. (this is how things ware suposed to go)

Ken chuckled low, the sound curling in his throat. "Since, I've already changed things just by taking the notebook. Light's perfect world is about to fall apart."

His eyes drifted to the Death Note resting on his desk. His fingers itched to open it, to write a name, to start. But then his reflection in the dark window caught his eye.

The question hit him like a silent bullet:Am I really going to kill someone?

His jaw tightened. "In my old life, I had a family. I wasn't a saint, but I wasn't a murderer either. And now…" He stared at the notebook, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Now, I'm sitting here debating whether to end a life for… points."

He closed his eyes. Points mean power. power means freedom. And in this world, i want to be free, i want to explore the multiverse.

Ken exhaled slowly, decision settling like a blade in water."I won't be a hero. But I'm not playing Kira's game either. Neutral… leaning good, right?" A bitter smile curved his lips. "Guess that's what I'll call it."

The system chimed softly in response to his thoughts, almost mocking:

[Reminder: Significant actions shape destiny. Choose wisely.]

Outside, the city lights flickered against the darkness, oblivious to the two predators now sharing a classroom.

Ken cracked his knuckles, pulling up the System again, eyes glinting.
