Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Crisis

Knox looked at the damaged locator beacon and, with a sigh, reported the situation to the other team members in the communication channel.

"Attention everyone, I encountered Chaos demons. The threat has been cleared, but the teleport beacon is damaged."

At this moment, Leonster, who was strolling leisurely, chasing the panicked Chaos Traitors, and the other Battle Brothers still engaged in combat, silently prepared themselves.

Leonster showed no reaction upon hearing this news; it was a common predicament for Astartes during missions.

But for the powerful them, this was nothing to fear.

At worst, they would inherit the glory of their souls returning to the Golden Throne.

"Loyalty."

Leonster had just arrived at an intersection, easily tracking the retreat route of the Chaos Traitors.

But... clearly, these Chaos Traitors would not simply flee.

At the other end of a broken bridge at the end of a long corridor, several Chaos Traitors pushed a Hellhammer-type laser cannon into a fixed position.

Several mortal traitors quickly connected additional battery packs.

On the magnified display, more and more retreating Chaos Traitors appeared.

They hid in the surrounding compartments.

Screech—

As Leonster's figure just emerged at the intersection, before he could even raise his bolter, a terrifying laser attack struck his ceramite armor.

As an Astartes, Leonster was also the captain of the boarding team.

His overall abilities were very strong.

For example, his reaction time.

This allowed Leonster to miraculously survive the attack.

However, some blood oozing from the damaged seams near the joints of his ceramite armor indicated his condition.

The laser cannon not only injured Leonster but also vaporized the Chaos Traitors who had not yet evacuated from the attack path.

The flashbang smoke grenade bounced back and forth on the hull, and thick smoke instantly covered the corridor, also obscuring the Hellhammer-type laser cannon's vision.

The moment the smoke appeared, the Astartes team with boarding shields and Leonster quickly blocked the passage.

The other team members were deployed not far from the corridor on either side of this intersection.

Bang bang bang bang bang bang—

Terrifying bolter firepower instantly poured out, directly pulverizing the enemies who had hidden in adjacent compartments after the attack and were attempting a smoke-screened ambush.

Leonster, however, raised his fully charged Plasma Pistol and pulled the trigger, relying on his recent memory of the approximate direction.

The plasma, like a comet trailing a tail, crashed into the Hellhammer-type laser cannon, eliminating this heavy weapon.

...

Knox aimed at a pre-placed grenade in the combat corridor outside the compartment.

The chaotic footsteps he perceived through his Leman's Ear became increasingly clear.

Even the sound of some Explosive Bullet Gun fire entered his ears.

He held his bolter in his right hand and used his combat blade as a brace in his left.

The makeshift cover, piled with debris and enemy corpses, effectively concealed the tall figure of the Astartes in the dim lighting characteristic of ship combat.

Panicked heretics, holding tattered weapons, instantly appeared around the corner, exposed to knox view.

But he did not rush to open fire.

Instead, he waited quietly, as the heavy breathing inside his helmet slowly faded.

The heretics, who were about to rush out of the corridor, clearly noticed something was wrong with this compartment. Before they could fully raise their weapons, a precise bolter round directly penetrated the body blocking the way, hitting the trap already set at the corner.

Boom.

In an instant, terrifying explosions successively erupted throughout the corridor, and flames spewed from every corridor exit.

In just a moment, more than half of the incoming heretic reinforcements were annihilated.

Knox slowly stood up, picked up the bolter from his waist, held a combat knife in his other hand, and his heavy magnetic boots stepped onto the somewhat viscous ship deck.

Bang bang bang.

The bolter fired rapidly, and the combat knife followed with swings in just a few seconds.

At the same time, the other Brothers also began to steadily advance towards this location, eliminating the remaining Chaos heretics.

...

The battle on the bridge happened very quickly. Although they lost a locator beacon, their experience facing Chaos enemies during countless combat careers meant it was impossible for them to carry only one of such important pieces of equipment.

However, the Chaos energy from the Warp caused the locator beacon's signal to be severely unstable.

But now, on The Blood Angels, Chapter master Afus could no longer worry about such things. On the planet below, the planetary governor had sent them no less than ten combat aid requests within a few Terra minutes.

This planet, being the most frequently traded with by this Rogue Trader family, was clearly heavily corrupted.

Fortunately, the people within its Hive Cities who held firm faith in the Emperor were still fighting desperately.

But for them, the outcome was highly likely to be death by their own people's guns, filled with their noble faith in the Emperor.

With the last message relayed by the Telepathica, Commander Afus knew he could no longer delay.

Because their subsequent support forces would not arrive for a full half a Terra month.

Who knew what they would become by then?

But it was also their misfortune, as they were the closest and only available rescue force in this sector.

: "Initiate boarding torpedoes."

Upon the command, the gates slowly opened, and one boarding torpedo after another began to charge straight towards the enemy Chaos battleship.

Even among the few remaining assault craft of the Blood Angels Chapter, veterans of the First Company wearing Indomitus Terminator Armor were fully geared and ready.

With more and more landing points, the Astartes of the Blood Angels Chapter began to move in groups to occupy various important positions within the ship.

The boarding shields led the way, serving as makeshift cover. The Indomitus Terminator Armor closely followed behind, providing fire support and a certain degree of cover for the Astartes behind them with their powerful firepower, armor, and deflection fields.

The entire Chaos ship was largely conquered within just half a Terra hour.

Apart from some xenos existing in the lower decks, basically every part of the entire ship was instantly purged.

Some teams even moved to support the bridge after completing their assigned tasks.

But when the teams arrived to support the bridge, they found that the situation had drastically changed.

Chaos marines had even appeared in the enemy ranks.

And not only on this ship, but even on the planet below, those corrupted Emperor's Children had also appeared.

The individual strength of these corrupted Emperor's Children was even greater than that of ordinary loyal Astartes.

Their appearance, combined with the corrupted, twisted, and fallen mortal cultists, delivered the most ferocious blows to the loyalist positions on the planet.

In an instant, the front line became precarious.
