Chapter 52 - This Feels Like Deja Vu

Lucas snorted. "This feels like déjà vu," he said, leaning forward.

"You councilmen always sit in your smug little circle. You needled me about the Luna, you called her weak— remember that? You said she wasn't fit to stand by an Alpha. And yet the same woman you call weak has more steel in her little finger than all you assholes have in your entire body combined."

"Alpha, please listen," he said reasonably. "We don't desire history to repeat itself. We are a collective — the pack is larger than any one man. That is why this council exists: to raise concerns when the stability of the pack could be compromised. If we do not speak now, who will?" He passed the question as if it were a ledger to be checked off.

"I expect concerns about security, about welfare, not questioning the choice of the Moon Goddess," Lucas shot back.

Malric leaned forward. "We would just like to know if the High Council has been informed."
