Chapter 34
Hazel's POV
The time had finally come. It was high time I visited the hospital. The oddities in my body had been increasing with alarming frequency—the heightened sense of smell, and the strange shifts in my internal temperature. Mr. Hugh, the Earnhardt family doctor, had given me explicit instructions for a full-body scan. I needed answers, and I needed them now.
Following his directions, I took a sharp turn down the next hall. The air in this private wing of the hospital was sterile and hushed, a stark contrast to the chaos of the outside world. I counted the units slowly as I walked: "Unit 6, 7, 8…". His office, was room 12, the head doctor's unit at the far end of the hall.
I noticed the colorful door—a vibrant splash of color against the sterile white walls—a small detail that showed he was the head of the department. As I neared it, a sudden, jarring grip on my arm yanked me backward. I stumbled, and a familiar voice snarled in my ear.
