Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Natasha's POV

Lizzy was alright, or so she claimed to be. I'd performed a locator spell the moment I'd heard she was missing and she indeed was in silverpine. I was glad she was safe but I knew that she was scared, she was in a world she thought only existed in fairytales.

The morning after we had gone to the movies I'd called her but she wasn't reachable which was weird since she was never unreachable.

Her phone must be off I told myself then I got a call from the local police asking me to come down to the station. They didn't tell me what it was about over the phone so I had no choice but to go to the station.

It's there I discovered that Lizzy had gone missing and her apartment trashed and the police said they had found blood.

"What do you mean by blood?" I asked "And what of Lizzy"

"Miss Hartwell wasn't in the apartment " Officer Radcliffe said "There was blood belonging to 3 different subjects. One belonged to your friend Miss Hartwell, the other to a dog which we later discovered to be her pet Bruce the neighbours said and the third is unconclusive. The cells died way too soon for the lab to get any results"

Bruce, I hoped he was okay. He was a loving and fiercely loyal dog.

After a couple of more questions and giving my statement I was allowed to leave.

At sundown I'd gone to Lizzy's apartment to find out what I could. There were no police but the entrance to her apartment was marked with yellow tape. A sign to keep people out.

 I went in nonetheless.

The inside was chaos. Broken furniture and glass lay everywhere. Blood stained the carpet and sofa. This wasn't good, if the police hadn't found them both I didn't let my mind stray there.

I scanned the room for any clues the police had missed. A couple of slashes here and there on the wall and on the sofa.

 Claw marks.

The police hadn't mentioned anything about them. Had they missed it or had intentionally not told me about it. Must have been the latter.

I closed the window and locked the door. It looked like it had been kicked off its hinges and been replaced. I lit a few candles I brought with me and began a spell.

 "Praeteritum Oculus"

It was a spell that allowed me to observe events that had taken place in a given setting. Depending on how powerful the caster was they could see as far back as they wanted but I only needed to see what had happened last night.

The room went blurry and then my vision changed. I was in the apartment still but everything was in its right place, nothing had been destroyed. Bruce was laying on the sofa then suddenly got up and went straight for the door and started scratching at it.

I heard keys turning and in came Lizzy all happy to see her friend. She patted and hugged the dog before removing her shoes, locking the door and heading straight for the kitchen.

 I followed.

She warmed Bruce's dinner up before serving him and then went for a shower. Nothing weird yet I noticed, then I felt a chill down my spine as if the temperature had plummeted a few degrees. No, it can't be.

I rushed back to the living room and sure enough standing in the corner was the thing I had feared.

 A vampire.

Sure I'd told Lizzy that I loved them and would always insist on watching movies and reading about them, but that was because they were different in the movies.

They were nicer, heroic albeit not all of them were but that wasn't the case in the real world. Vampires were cold blooded killers and cared naught for others other than their own. But what was this one doing here? They weren't supposed to be in this part of the world.

Their territories was in Eastern Europe, coming here was basically suicide. Witches, Werewolves or Werecats would kill one on sight for trespassing so why here of all places and why Lizzy?.

Bruce walked into the living room, ears perked up, teeth bared. He had sensed the intruder.

Slowly he moved his eyes focused on the spot where the vampire stood motionless like a statue. Bruce growled and then attacked.

The vampire seemed impressed that Bruce had noticed him and had dared to attack. No dog would attack a vampire, animals knew which battles they could win and which they could not. But Bruce wasn't doing this to protect his own life but rather that of his human.

Bruce jumped and bit into the vampire's arm but he stood there as if nothing happened then grabbed him by the neck and squeezed, breaking his neck. Bruce whimpered as the vampire drove his fangs into his neck draining him dry.

It was a horrible sight. I loved that dog and to see him meet his end like that was unbearable.

"Bruce!" I heard Lizzy call from her room. She kept calling and calling but no reply. Bruce was gone.

She walked into the room slowly, the only light coming from the kitchen and moonlight. I could see her sense that something was wrong the moment she noticed the blood on the carpet.

"Bruce!" She called again but no reply. A moment later she noticed him on the table and approached him slowly all the while calling his name.

The moment she was close enough to see him in the dim light I saw the panic on her face. Bruce was dead and she realised she was going to die as well.

"Hello again miss" I heard the vampire say.

"William" I heard Lizzy call him, so she knew how?

They continued to talk all the while Lizzy's mind was everywhere. She was scared and had every right to be. She was in the presence of a predator.

She tried to get away but William was too fast. He grabbed the towel around her falling to the ground. This caused William to admire her body with a predatory glaze.

"Don't mind if I take my time," he said. Ohh I was going to skin this guy alive.

He pinned her below him and started caressing her before biting into her neck and drinking her blood.

A moment later the front door to her apartment was kicked down. That would explain the different door.

In walked a towering male with broad shoulders and a very muscular body. He glanced at Lizzy then his eyes glowed blue but when he glanced at the vampire over her he went berserk.

"A lycan" I said surprised or werewolf whatever it is they called themselves. He had arrived at the right time. The New world was their territory with parts of Western Europe. Had he been tasked with eliminating this vampire?

He attacked William with enough force to fold a car in half but the vampire had just fed and was in this state stronger.

They clashed, throwing each other here and there, destroying furniture and breaking windows.

"You've finally caught up" William said "And only because I took my time with this one"

The werewolf's eyes glowed at the remark.

"Is that emotion I sense? Wait don't tell me" he said as he looked at her then back at me "She's your mate? Oh, this is just perfect. No wonder I couldn't resist her. I knew there was something pulling me towards her. Fate huh?"

"Yeah she's a bitch" He snarled and launched himself at William claws slashing the air with a metallic swoosh.

Mate! Of all the people I never would have guessed to be included in this world, Lizzy had to be the one dragged into it.

Mated to a werewolf, Lizzy was as good as a prisoner. He wouldn't let her go no matter what. But he would also let no harm ever get to her that I was sure of.

A minute later the vampire's head was rolling on the floor, the werewolf having decapitated him with his claws. It was bloody.

He then rushed to cradle Lizzy in his arms, muttering all sorts of apologies about why he wasn't there sooner and blaming himself for not protecting her.

A moment later two other werewolves came in. His pack mates I believe, a male and a female. The male looked awfully similar to him, perhaps his brother.

He gave them quick commands the woman dashing to grab Lizzy's stuff and the man consoling him. A couple of minutes later the ke

ft the room with the man remaining to take care of the scene.

My vision went blurry again and I was back in the apartment again. So Lizzy was alive and well but with werewolves.

And most of all she was mated to one.
