Chapter 12 - C-12

" Markus! Thank God we found you!"

Came Clarke's voice, breaking him out of his thought processes as he looked behind him and finding Clarke, Octavia and Finn.

" Huh?"

" Where were you!" Clarke immediately bulldozed through his confusion, getting up to him, grabbing his biceps." I thought you disappeared and got yourself killed!"

" Don't you ever do that again!" Came Octavia's voice as she came up to him, looking him up and down as if looking for wounds.

" I just went for a walk?" Markus half asked and half said confused about their reaction and looking around he found that he had seemingly strayed away from camp in his musement of his system.

" After fighting off a monster deer? What were you thinking!?" Clarke came again, looking at him as if walking a couple dozen metres away from them was a crime.

" You could have atleast warned us, dude." Finn chimed in, not sharing the worried eyes that the other two girls shared.

Seeing this Markus mellowed, showing a carefree smile as his mind connected what was troubling them.

" It's no big deal, I was just captiveted by the flora around me— I think my power had more to do with my distraction though, I'm sorry." He told them, giving the two girls an ounce of sincerity.

" Just...please tell us before disappearing, okay?" Clarke asked, showing the most concern for him out of all three of them.

That alone seemed to bring a smile to him that he didn't consciously want to show.

His memories, their history and everything bleeding to make his body react in that certain way.

" I'll try." He unconsciously said, his alter, the one that had been there before he took over feeding him the right response to give her.

And like she expected it, Clarke giggled, giving him an unbelieving look before sighing to herself.

" Just...stick with me...us, we don't know what other creatures got mutated and survived, okay?" She told him, looking around her as if she expected another post-nuclear animal to show up.

" Of course I'ma stick with you, how else am I supposed to protect you Clere?" Markus asked, half himself and the other flowing through him, a nickname he had given her just before she got boxed.

"*Snort*" Octavia snorted, looking at him and Clarke with a varying shade of emotions.

Looking at her he saw amusement, worry, and a look as if she found competition for something.

And Markus being not dense at all saw this, and like anyone who had any sense in a world he only saw in fiction, didn't say anything—even if he saw Finn scrunch his eyes as he looked between the two woman that seemed entrenched in his life.

" It's already morning, we need to go to Mount Weather before the Camp falls apart." Clarke told them with a sigh.

" Oh I'm pretty sure they fell apart the minute all the moderately responsible teens left." Markus said with a chuckle, wondering what type of madness teens with newly manifested superpowers could create.

It definitely wouldn't be anything like Canon though, that much he realised.

One factor being Wells, in the original timeline he had been the factor that shared information to Bellamy about the contraptions on their wrists showing their vital signs to the Ark.

Speaking of which, Quinn wondered whether to collect and repurpose the things for his own uses.

[Science] and [Tek Domain] seemingly bubbling up at the thought.

And in his curious stupor he used [Tek Domain] to get a feel of the vital wristband on his persons.

Blinking as the entire things blueprint wormed itself into his brain, then he felt the signals being broadcasted from it to a far away place which was definitely space.

' I wonder if I could use these to communicate with the Ark.' He thought, musing to himself before focusing back on the group of people he was trekking with.

At this point they had already reached their impromptu campsite.

" Oh? You found him." Wells muttered, not looking too happy at the fact.

" Nice to see you too, chancellor, it's nice to see that you care." Markus couldn't help but jape.

Immediately the title seemed to set him off, but before he could retort a single glare from Clarke shut him off.

Then she threw a look that seemed to say 'Really?' to him for what felt like the hundredth time with how exasperated she was.

Seeing that he simply chuckled and shrugged, happy to get one over Wells any day.

They quickly got their things from the campsite, him with his bag already they then set out again.

It was moments after they did that Octavia slid besides him.

" Oh Uhmm, Markus....." Octavia sputtered besides him, looking a bit off than her usual peppy self.

" Yes, O?"

The use of her nickname seemed to have caught her off guard as she gave him a weird but accepting look before her expression shifted back to being worried and embarrassed.

" I was wondering..." She started, pausing as she looked at him by the corner of her eye.

" Yes?"

" Your sword...I was wondering whether you could lend it to me." She finally spoke up.

That had him pausing for a minute, blinking before realising that he had forgotten all about the thing he had been fashioning into a weapon.

" Why?" He asked, curious as to why she'd want that mess of a thing.

He would give it to her nonetheless though but he still wanted to know why the sudden interest in the thing as she wasn't supposed to get all that passionate about fighting nor weapons so soon.

Hearing his question, Octavia mulled over something for a moment before telling him.

" It's...my ability I think, when I held this after you fainted I felt more powerful and then somehow I found that I could use it like I'd trained with sword's for years if not a decade." Octavia muttered, staring at the sword she had on her hand.

Hearing that, Quinn was surprised before he found himself interested at her words.

' That can be an ability?' Then he remembered that Munroe also had a similar ability, but hers didn't include any empowering to the wielder.
