Chapter 84 - Chapter 84. Instinct Over Intellect

(BONUS CHAPTER)

"Oh my god, how are you not bursting out laughing right now?"

Inside the Spirit Pearl, Kushina felt like she was losing her mind from suppressed laughter. Yet, Yuto across from Danzo remained stone-faced, as if genuinely agreeing with the old man's delusions.

"Lord Danzo, we still have a chance."

"Exactly!" Danzo's pained expression shifted into solemn resolve as he nodded. "The future of Konoha rests in my hands. Only I can lead this village to true prosperity!"

"How much has this guy been drinking to get this delusional?" Kushina couldn't help but snark.

"The Hollowification's influence on him must be severe," Mikoto sighed, shaking her head. "He's completely lost his grip on reality—arrogant beyond belief."

"Even without hollowification, this guy's elevator doesn't go all the way up," Kushina scoffed. "His most loyal subordinates keep dropping like flies, and in the original story, he tried stabbing a Susanoo with a kunai."

"Pfft—oh god, that one still kills me!" Mikoto burst out laughing.

"And then he sacrificed his life to seal… a bridge. Truly, Danzo-sama's legacy is unmatched!" Kushina sneered.

Meanwhile, oblivious to the two women roasting him, Danzo stroked his chin thoughtfully.

"For this meeting with Orochimaru, I've decided to change tactics."

"Change tactics?" Yuto feigned confusion.

"That fool Orochimaru has no idea there's a spy loyal to me right under his nose!" Danzo smirked, oozing smugness. "He's been hiding in the Land of Rice, even founded a village called Otogakure."

"So you mean…"

"No need for negotiations. Kill Orochimaru on sight. His research must be stored in that pathetic little village—we'll take it for ourselves!"

"Brilliant as always, Lord Danzo!"

Meanwhile, deep in Otogakure's underground lab…

Orochimaru stood before a containment unit, observing the snarling creature inside.

Covered in white bone-like plating, its eyes burned with pure bloodlust. Even restrained, its violent thrashing rattled the chamber.

"Fascinating… it's still alive?" Kabuto mused behind him.

"Hmm," Orochimaru chuckled darkly. "Tell me, Kabuto—is this thing still Kurashi, or just a monster now?"

"Is there a difference, Lord Orochimaru?" Kabuto adjusted his glasses.

"Kurashi had a mind. This thing? Only has instinct." Orochimaru's tongue flicked out. "Such is the price of the Super Shinobi Serum. One day, you and I might end up the same."

He raised his newly regenerated arm—now a grotesque claw with blade-like nails.

"Let's hope that day comes later rather than sooner," Kabuto sighed.

"Hope is for the weak,".Orochimaru sneered before slamming the release button.

The monster lunged—only for Orochimaru's claw to impale its chest like wet paper.

"Disappointing. Even with increased dosage, it barely scratches chunin-level." He shook his head as the creature collapsed.

"Talent matters," Kabuto handed him a towel. "Danzo wouldn't send real prospects as spies."

"Speaking of… do you think Danzo actually wants cooperation?" Orochimaru smirked.

"Unlikely. His mind's too far gone," Kabuto said flatly. "At this stage, he'll crave only destruction."

"My thoughts exactly."

"Yet you agreed to meet him Lord Orochimaru?"

"To see how far the old fool has fallen. You don't seriously think he's a threat to me?"

"Ah. My oversight."

"You've much to learn, Kabuto."

Orochimaru paused at another containment unit—where a purple-haired woman in tattered robes floated, her body crackled like dried earth.

"Edo Tensei no justi"

White bone fragments swirled around her but refused to merge.

"Still no progress?" Orochimaru's voice sharpened. "The serum won't bind to the dead. Was I wrong?"

He'd been certain the bone plating would amplify spiritual energy. Yet something was missing…

Back in Konoha's underground hideout:

"Pfft—Orochimaru's still failing!" Kushina cackled, watching the screen. "You're missing the Hogyoku, snake-face!"

"He can't hear you,"Mikoto deadpanned.

"So? I'm having fun!" Kushina turned to Yuto, who was furiously poking at a strange device. "Kid, still struggling with your new toy?"

Yuto ignored her, determined to crack the "Mysterious Communicator's" secret.

No power button? No way he'd gotten scammed after completing that shameless quest!

Ten minutes later, he snapped.

"Piece of junk—SCREW YOU!"*

He slammed his fist onto the screen.

*Beep.*

All three froze.

"Password?!"

"What kind of demonic design is this?!"

"Who the hell would guess 'screw you' as the Password?!"
