Chapter 3 - 3. Two In One

Surveying the endless expanse of darkness before him, Adeon could only wonder.

He was frozen in place, unable to move, yet, paradoxically, it felt as if he could see everything… or rather, feel everything.

The space was infinite.

Boundless.

'Could the awakening have been a success?

If so... I don't recall any story where someone ends up trapped in an endless void.'

His last memory was fragmented. The heavy thumping of his heart.

Blinding pain.

A flash of light. And then… this.

"This place... I seem to remember—"

He was cut off by a sudden voice.

It rang out across the darkness, echoing through the void like the first breath of creation itself.

"Before the dawn of time… before the birth of expression… the CREATOR carved the Heavens and the Earth. And the world was without form… and void. Then He declared..."

Silence.

The voice stopped, hanging unfinished in the air like a question that shook the stars.

Before Adeon could begin to wonder what was happening.

Another voice spoke.

If the first voice had been a wolf's howl beneath a full moon,

the second was like the roar of a thousand thunders crashing all at once:

"LET THERE BE LIGHT."

Just four words.

But with them, Adeon witnessed a sight he knew would be etched into his soul for the rest of his life.

The boundless, endless expanse shattered, unable to withstand the weight of the voice that had spoken.

A voice that was at once gentle and terrifying, stern and loving, kind and absolute.

In the wake of that command, the void gave way.

Constellations took shape.

Stars were birthed.

Each one flaring into existence, glowing like the breath of creation itself.

And as if guided by some unseen hand, they moved into place, gracefully, silently, obediently.

Then.

A blinding brilliance ignited, gathering at a single point before blossoming outward into a gargantuan sphere of flame.

A sun.

A second heart to this newborn cosmos.

Adeon stood motionless, breathless, completely consumed by awe.

Is that... the Sun? Is this the cosmos?

Did I just witness the birth of the universe?

He stared, overwhelmed and mystified.

> What level of power... could create something like this? This can only be the— CREATOR.

Then the first voice returned, continuing with purpose—and this time, Adeon felt it directly address him.

> "This is called GENESIS...

And you... Have been gifted with the Gift of Beginnings."

At the sound of the voice, the scene around him began to fade, receding rapidly until.

GASP

Adeon jolted upright, gasping for breath. His chest rose and fell as he stood up from the floor, his forehead throbbing slightly. He glanced between the floor and the couch, confusion flickering in his eyes.

"I remember grabbing onto the couch... so how did I end up on the floor?"

He shook his head.

"Whatever. It's time to see what my grimoire looks like... and check if I awakened an innate talent."

He sat down and began to focus, going through the process they'd been taught countless times in school.

Eyes closed. Arms relaxed at his sides.

Steady, calm breathing.

Soon, he felt it.

A faint, almost threadlike energy stirred in his brain. It traveled down his spine, spread through his limbs, then circled back and settled at a single point, right between his brows.

A wide grin broke across his face.

"Haha… this must be Auron. I've finally shed the status of an ordinary person."

Excited, he tried to reach for the energy. But it slipped away, dodging him like a mischievous child.

He frowned slightly.

Mental projection was supposed to be an instinctive skill—something every grimoirer could use immediately after awakening.

Or at least, that's what all the textbooks had said.

He tried again, this time slower, more focused.

As his mental reach neared the energy, it pulled back once more like it was teasing him. He could almost feel its playful nature, like it was amused by the chase.

'Get over here,' he muttered in his mind, growing frustrated.

This time, whether it was because he was more serious or because the energy had finally had its fun, it stopped running. And let him catch it.

A sudden gust of wind swept through the room, rustling the curtains and sending a few papers tumbling to the ground.

Without thinking, Adeon's arms moved—right palm over left—as if by instinct.

He felt a weight settle into his hands.

Opening his eyes, he blinked at the object between his palms.

"Phew... finally managed to summon it."

The book floated steadily, even as he pulled his hands away. It was leather-bound, deep brown with a faint sheen. Strange, glowing runes moved across the cover, shifting gently like they were alive.

He studied it for a moment, then spoke quietly:

"Open."

The pages flipped rapidly, then stopped in the middle, signaling ownership.

Adeon leaned in, eyes scanning the page.

"Huh… it really does show everything," he said, surprised.

HOST: Adeon Taloba

Rank: Initiate (Leather)

Progress: 1%

Tamed Beasts: None

Innate Talent: Genesis Hollow ( A small world within the grimoire) only available after taming first beast

Guardian Beast: *****(tame a beast first)

Seeing the list of conditions required to unlock his full abilities, Adeon couldn't help but feel a little frustrated. But more than that, he was practically glowing with joy.

"Not only did I awaken an innate talent… I also have a guardian beast!"

He could hardly believe it.

Most people didn't awaken with any innate talent. Sure, it wasn't exactly rare, maybe 40 out of every 100 new Grimoirers had one. But guardian beasts? That was something else entirely.

Only about five out of every hundred awakened individuals had a guardian beast. And among those, none were known to have gotten one on their second awakening.

It was practically unheard of.

That meant… somehow, despite the odds, he had managed it.

I really was… favored by the Creator.

Guardian beasts were unique, beasts that were born with their grimoirer and would die with them. What made them truly special, however, was the fact that as long as the grimoirer lived, the guardian beast couldn't truly die. Even if it was torn apart, it would return, undying.

Adeon yawned deeply, the rush of adrenaline from the awakening finally starting to wear off. Fatigue settled over him like a blanket.

"I might as well go to bed."

It was already 2 a.m., though the city outside still buzzed with nightlife. He walked over to the window and unlocked it, having sealed it shut earlier to prepare for the awakening.

As he opened it, a cool breeze brushed past him. His gaze drifted across to his neighbor's house… and he froze.

He blinked. Then rubbed his eyes.

Surely he was imagining things?

But when he looked again, the image didn't change, still clear, still unmistakable.

A grin slowly spread across his face.

"Looks like my talent is two-in-one."
