On the night that Kushina was supposed to give birth, Megumi was about to follow them inside when an elderly hand blocked his way.
"Sorry, young man, you can't come in," said the woman, who was the oldest among the midwives.
Megumi wondered why he wasn't allowed in. It wasn't that he wanted to be there, but it was what Kushina wanted.
"Why, ma'am?" he replied with a respectful tone.
"Because you are male, and you're too young to be there," she replied while teasing him.
Megumi couldn't pinpoint who this woman was, but he was certain she was a good person, given how both the Fourth Hokage and his teacher Kushina were addressing her.
*I'll wait until Master is done, then I'll ask about her,* Megumi thought.
"Sorry about that, elder. I'll be going now."
Megumi was about to leave the area. Since he knew he would unlock his power by tomorrow morning, he needed to check if he had forgotten anything.
"If I don't see you outside, I promise it will be hell for you!" Kushina shouted. Even while in pain, she didn't want Megumi to leave her side, as she had come to see him as a little brother.
Megumi's face fell. Nevertheless, he could attend to his power later.
"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere," he replied.

A few minutes after Kushina had entered with the women, Megumi found himself a chair. He wasn't a bodyguard who should be standing, and there were five ANBU here, so there should be no danger.
He couldn't remember what happened in the series at this point, but his instincts were telling him to be prepared.
Just as he rested his back against the wall and closed his eyes, he heard a sound. Opening his eyes, he noticed that the lights in the corridor were off. There were supposed to be two ANBU there, and the one staying with him was gone.
*What the hell is going on?* he thought.
"Hey, ANBU, why are the lights off?" Megumi called out to the two ANBU resting on the wall.
Megumi noticed that the ANBU just turned his head.
*These bastards aren't answering me. I'll teach them a lesson,* Megumi thought, cracking his knuckles as he prepared to move forward.
But the moment he got a little closer, he looked down and noticed a liquid on his feet.
He stepped back immediately before throwing a flare to where the ANBU were standing.
Then it hit him straight away there was an intruder in the base.
As he was about to turn and call for help, his instincts saved him once again.
A man wearing an orange spiraling mask appeared out of nowhere with a blade in his hand.
"Who are you? And what do you want?" Megumi asked as he shifted into his battle stance. But something was missing between them.
A weapon.
"Who I am is not your business, and what I want is to destroy this village with what the woman in labor has inside her," the man said in a deep, manly tone.
Megumi narrowed his eyes after hearing how this masked man so bluntly stated that he was going to destroy the village.
"Then you'll have to go through me first before you touch my teacher."
Megumi could see openings in this masked man's stance, but he knew it was a bait.
He remembered that every ANBU carried a tantō with them, which meant that those men would have one.
Megumi charged forward, clenching his fist toward the man's face, but the man made no attempt to block.
Megumi's attack passed through the man's body as if he were just a projection.
"Huh, what kind of crazy ability is that?"
Megumi stepped back and grabbed the short blade from one of the fallen ANBU.
He looked at the man's face, trying to remember who this person was, because he still couldn't get a flashback of who he might be.
He looked at the single hole in the mask and saw the eye turn red with three tomoe spinning in it.
"What? An Uchiha with three tomoe?" Megumi was shocked, but that slight moment of distraction cost him.
The man moved faster than Megumi could parry the attack.
His instincts saved him again, but at the cost of his left arm being cut off.
"Ahhhhh!"
Megumi cried out, unable to withstand the pain.
He was losing blood at a rapid rate.
"You bastard! Why are you attacking your own village?!"
Megumi asked because he couldn't remember an Uchiha with three tomoe being this strong. He needed to buy time because he knew his scream would draw the attention of the ANBU at the front door.
"I don't remember having any feelings for this village, and your attempt to buy time is useless. The main body has already taken your master and is facing the Fourth Hokage."
"And I have released the Nine-Tails. But I was informed that a strong kid was still alive, so I came back to finish you. Don't blame me—blame your elders who want you dead."
"Who was it? Tell me who betrayed the village and wants me dead!" Megumi couldn't believe and yet will believe this man. He remembered that his mother and him was attacked by Root back then, and the Nara clan elders wanted him dead.
"It's useless knowing because you will die," the masked man said, attacking again. This time, it was a one-sided beating.
Megumi was receiving the beating of his life, but he wasn't focused on struggling. with one arm what can can he do when even with two hands he wasn't sure he stood a chance.
He remembered immediately that this man was part of the main villains in the series.
But it was useless now.
*Boom!*
Megumi was smashed against the wall, creating a spider-web crack.
Megumi was sure he would die. He managed to look up and see the man's clone in front of him.
*THUD!*
The masked man pierced Megumi's chest with his blade.
The masked man's clone drew his weapon from Megumi's chest, cleaning the bloodstain from the blade.
*Pfft.* Megumi coughed up a mouthful of blood, struggling to look at the masked man's face.
"You're still alive? You've done well, and for that, I will tell you my name and who wants you dead." The masked man tilted his head.
He then turned away, knowing full well that this kid was dead. "I am Mada—"
"You are not Madara Uchiha," Megumi interrupted, cutting off his speech.
"And how do you know that name?" the man asked, killing intent radiating from his body.
"Hahaha... why are you so worked up, man? I just know that you're fake." Then the light went out of Megumi's eyes.
