Chapter 48 - chapter:48

Megumi woke up with his eyes still dizzy.

"Am I in heaven?"

Still lying down, not even wanting to stand up from wherever he was, one thing was sure he was still alive, and he would have to give that evil woman an explanation of what he knew.

"You're still alive. You just fainted."

A female voice was heard a few steps from where Megumi was.

"I don't care if I die. I will never snitch." Megumi was not ready to share any information with Kushina, as she would tell Minato, who would tell Hiruzen, and then the old man would tell the all-righteous man himself, Shimura Danzo.

Who would want to have tea with that one-eyed ghoul?

"How about I tell you my secret, then you tell me yours?"

Kushina asked with a smile in a way that sent a shocking chill down Megumi's spine.

"What secret do you have that could be more valuable than mine?"

Megumi couldn't remember anything about her apart from her being an Uzumaki and having a large property.

Damn you, old man, he thought.

This was why he kept regretting accepting that stupid clause in his contract. Now he would have to pray his enemy used their signature move before he could remember who they were.

[You can still make a binding vow with yourself]

[But what you give must be equivalent to or not less than what you are getting]

"What!"

"You bastard, when are you releasing my power, and why are you still here?"

Megumi wasn't expecting that this evil system would still be lurking.

Now he thought about the deal he made with that damn system.

He discovered that he'd been robbed because the system didn't state when he would get his power unlocked. As he later learned, "for a while" had no date or time.

"Why are you still here?"

"Answer me!"

Megumi didn't even care about the pregnant Kushina in front of him.

He didn't want to let the sloppy system escape today.

[You will get your power released in a week, then I will be gone]

[So stop behaving like a baby and act your age]

"Huh."

It was as if Megumi had been fed shit, hearing how the system was scolding him.

"Are you okay, Megumi?" Kushina wasn't worried but was dumbfounded by Megumi screaming out as if he were talking to a ghost.

"I'm fine," he replied, his breathing growing heavier with each breath he took.

Kushina drew Megumi into her inner space where a cage stood.

Megumi wasn't sure where he was at first, but he quickly understood what he'd been missing about the secret Kushina wanted to share.

He was now facing the Nine-Tails beast, who kept baring its fangs at him or rather, at them.

"What do you think about this, Megumi?" Kushina asked after seeing his reaction.

Growl!

"You will regret this, brat!" the Nine-Tails roared, releasing its energy not toward Kushina, but toward Megumi, seeing him as easy prey.

The red energy quickly engulfed Megumi so fast that Kushina couldn't see it coming and had to jump back.

"Nine-Tails, stop this now!" Kushina couldn't fight the Nine-Tails in her condition and couldn't let it possess the innocent boy.

"Huh, you'll watch him die right in front of you," the Nine-Tails said in an arrogant tone while releasing a strong malevolent chakra.

"What's wrong with this overfed, extra-eight-tails fox?" Megumi said.

While the fox thought it had Megumi the whole time, Megumi was just trying to remember who the hell this oversized fox was and its name.

Now he remembered. He wasn't affected by the malevolent aura of the Nine-Tails because the Nine-Tails was the embodiment of hate, and his cursed energy was negative energy.

The Nine-Tails was just a curse spirit, and he, as a sorcerer, should exorcise it on the spot but he couldn't.

Why couldn't he? Simply because his power was still locked.

"What!" Both Kushina and the Nine-Tails were shocked that its chakra had no effect on him.

"How are you still okay?" the Nine-Tails asked in disbelief that a human with no chakra could withstand not only its presence but its chakra too.

I knew you were special, Kushina thought as her lips curled up at the corners.

"I think we're done here," Kushina said in a confident tone, though she was panicking inside. She couldn't let the Nine-Tails target her she needed to leave this place.

"Please wait," Megumi said as he stepped closer to face the Nine-Tails.

Kushina wasn't sure what he wanted to do, so she moved out of the way, standing behind him.

"I want to ask you do you bleed?" Megumi asked.

The Nine-Tails was still growling and was pissed that a human was asking such a stupid question. After all, it was made of chakra, so how would it bleed?

Megumi's face was as cold as a seasoned exorcist meeting his nemesis.

"Because the next time I come here, I will make you bleed, Kurama."

The Nine-Tails roared very loudly because it didn't know how this boy knew its true name not even its host knew its true name.

"Kurama?" Kushina was dumbfounded after Megumi called the Nine-Tails by that name.

Facing the beast, Kushina asked, "Is your true name Kurama?"

Kushina couldn't process what was happening. She had brought Megumi here to intimidate him, but now it was the boy intimidating the stubborn Nine-Tails.

Kushina immediately remembered that Megumi had said her name without her telling him on their first day.

Now she wanted to know everything about Megumi after all, he'd already encountered something that was a village secret
