Both mother and son dragged themselves out of the Hokage building. They headed to the Ichiraku Ramen shop to apologize. When they arrived, people were already gathered, calling Megumi a monster and saying he should be punished.
Danzo… you will regret playing this game with me. Just wait, Megumi thought.
He stood in front of the crowd and said, "I am sorry for all my actions that affected your business."
They did not come to eat at the ramen shop as usual. They came only to apologize, and Megumi would soon resume his sentence as a prisoner.
He still could not understand it. Why sentence a kid to prison? I thought I would just be asked to clean the community for a week. But those two bastards are using me to play the good cop and the bad cop.
Kaede could not tell if Megumi was angry or simply being himself.
"Megumi, let us go visit the officer you injured," Kaede said, breaking the silence.
On their way to the hospital, they crossed paths with a woman in police uniform.
"Hi Kaede. I was just coming from your house. I was told you were seen going into the Hokage building," she said, speaking as if she were an old friend of Kaede.
Megumi looked at the woman. She was so beautiful that he could not resist admiring her.
"Wow, you are so beautiful," he said out loud without realizing it.
"Huh?" The Uchiha woman was taken aback, then giggled and replied, "Thank you."
Bang!
Kaede dropped her fist on his head. "Will you shut up? I don't want to see this scene again, understood?" she scolded.
"Yes, I promise," Megumi replied, tears welling in his eyes.
"Sorry. Hi Rika, I was just about to go to the hospital," Kaede said.
"Who are you visiting, Kaede? Or… are you pregnant?" Rika asked playfully.
"Stop spitting out nonsense, Rika. I am going to the hospital to visit your clan member—the one Megumi injured," Kaede replied with a straight face.
"Huh… you're joking, right?" Rika looked at the small boy standing beside her friend. She could not believe the same boy who had just complimented her could injure someone like that.
"Wow, your son is a prodigy, Kaede," Rika said with a smile as she held Kaede's hand.
"He will be competing with our clan head's son one day."
"Huh… I don't compete with psychos," Megumi muttered.
"For your son, who has not even started at the academy, to beat a two-tomoe Sharingan like that…" Rika shook her head. "I am sure he will be a great shinobi. What is your dream, Megumi?"
"I want to be the greatest sorcerer ever," he replied.
"Sorcerer? Why not Hokage?" she asked, surprised. She knew ninjas were considered far more powerful than sorcerers.
Megumi did not want to get pulled into another endless conversation like with Ayame.
"Mom, I think we are being watched again," he said, trying to leave. He could not cope with Rika's chatter.
"Alright," Kaede said, realizing he had enough. "We are leaving." She greeted Rika goodbye.
"How did you become friends with a Uchiha?" Megumi asked. He knew Uchihas rarely mixed with outsiders.
"Well, part of my heritage comes from the Uchiha clan," Kaede answered.
