Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Another Child of Fate? And two whole grades above Chen Hao?

Dao Xi nearly exclaimed aloud in shock.

At that moment, Chen Hao stood proudly on the trial platform, casting a disdainful glance at the dark-skinned youth. "That's right. I've been accepted as a disciple under Elder Bloodsword."

Elder Bloodsword? When the onlookers heard that, they immediately turned toward the blood-robed elder behind Chen Hao, eyes full of envy.

"That's wonderful! That means the two of us can go to the Blood Fiend Sect with you!" the dark-skinned boy said excitedly.

The three of them had made a pact beforehand—whichever one of them got accepted into the Blood Fiend Sect would bring the other two along as attendants to cultivate there.

Even if they were only attendants, it was still a chance to rise above their station.

But Chen Hao merely cast a cold glance at Chen Heitan and sneered. "Cultivate? You, a worthless failure with the lowest aptitude—someone who couldn't even pass a ninth-grade sect's entrance test? Just go back to Chen Family Village. Don't embarrass yourself here."

His words were like a thousand-year-old ice needle, stabbing straight into Chen Heitan's heart. His breath caught, and his expression instantly turned ashen.

"You, Chen Hao—now that you've had a bit of success, have you forgotten who once fed you a bowl of rice?"

Dao Xi watched the two brothers with great interest from the side.

This Chen Heitan possessed the Dominant Black Dragon Physique, a peerless innate talent. And yet it had not been awakened, and he'd even failed to pass a ninth-grade sect's examination.

Wasn't this the perfect opportunity?

"Chen Hao, we had an agreement! And I even lent you the money so you could come to the Land of Ascension!" Chen Heitan gritted his teeth and said.

"Did you?" Chen Hao sneered.

Seeing Chen Hao's dismissive attitude, Chen Heitan's face contorted with rising fury.

"Chen Hao, how could you be like this? Have you forgotten? On the road here, Heitan even saved your life!" At that moment, the girl beside him spoke up.

She was Chen Xiaohé, Chen Heitan's fiancée. The three of them had come to the Land of Ascension together in search of a chance to cultivate.

When Chen Hao laid eyes on Chen Xiaohé's delicate and beautiful face, his tone softened. He had long coveted her body.

"Xiaohé, don't blame me. It's just that Xiaohei isn't suited for cultivation. How about this—come with me to the Blood Fiend Sect. I'll speak to my master and have you accepted as a formal disciple instead of a servant," Chen Hao said lightly.

With his exceptional talent, such a minor request would surely be granted by the Blood Fiend Sect.

Sure enough, as soon as Chen Hao spoke, Elder Bloodsword behind him gave Chen Xiaohé a slight nod of approval.

Hiss—

A gasp spread through the crowd.

To become a formal disciple of a seventh-grade sect like the Blood Fiend Sect—that was a golden opportunity to ascend overnight!

"Xiaohé will never go with you! Chen Hao, you ungrateful beast!" Chen Heitan roared.

"What are you barking for? Careful, or I'll break your legs," Chen Hao replied coldly.

Behind him, several disciples of the Blood Fiend Sect instantly drew their blades, exuding a deadly killing intent.

"Xiaohé, I will soon become an immortal. Right now, I'm short a tea-serving maid. Would you be willing?" Chen Hao asked with a smile that didn't reach his eyes, looking at Chen Xiaohé.

Chen Xiaohé bit her lip and showed a conflicted expression as she glanced at Chen Heitan.

"Xiaohé, don't listen to him! Come back with me!" Chen Heitan tried to grab her hand—but she flung it off.

Her expression turned cold as she said, "Heitan, you're just a mortal. I could never go back to Chen Family Village and live a mortal's life. Leave."

With that, Chen Xiaohé walked over to Chen Hao and took his arm.

Faced with the two men, she chose the one with more promise.

"Hahaha!" Chen Hao laughed maniacally, running his fingers across her cheek. "Not bad. The little beauty knows how to make the right choice."

Chen Xiaohé lowered her head and gave a shy smile.

"You… you two—!" Chen Heitan let out a beast-like howl and charged at them in a frenzy.

Chen Hao frowned and stepped back. A disciple beside him from the Blood Fiend Sect waved his sleeve, and with a surge of spiritual power, a massive force slammed into Chen Heitan, knocking him to the ground.

Pfft!

Chen Heitan spat out a mouthful of blood, the sound of bones cracking echoing from his body.

"A mere ant dares to compete with the bright moon?" Chen Hao said, thoroughly pleased with himself, a mocking smile on his lips.

"I'll kill you!"

Lying prone on the ground, Chen Heitan suddenly exploded with bestial fury. With a feral glint in his eyes, he sprang up again, as if ready to tear Chen Hao to pieces.

"Not bad. Not bad," Dao Xi commented to himself.

Not only did this Chen Heitan possess Grade B fate, but he also had the right temperament—passionate, righteous, and unafraid of retribution. He was well worth cultivating.

"You dare court death?" Chen Hao's eyes turned icy as he respectfully bowed to a nearby Blood Fiend Sect disciple. "Senior brother, I ask you to kill this wretch."

"Very well."

The disciple gave a slight nod. With a casual wave of his hand, a terrifying sword aura shot forth, heading straight for Chen Heitan.

The sword aura howled as it descended. Chen Heitan felt that he would be cleaved in two by that single strike.

A hint of despair flickered in his eyes—he had no power to resist.

"System, activate Indestructible Golden Body Trial Card!"

At that critical moment, a white-robed figure stepped in front of him. With a gentle wave of his sleeve, he blocked the fatal sword strike.

Who is this?!

Chen Heitan stared wide-eyed at the sudden appearance of the young man before him.

He wore flowing white robes and carried himself with unmatched grace. Every movement he made seemed to exude the bearing of one who commanded the very Dao of Heaven and Earth.
