Chapter 7 - The beginning of the curse

Swooosh…

The sound of leaves carried by the wind fell against the roof of Alvaro's house. On a bright morning, Alvaro slowly opened his eyes and felt his body a little lighter.

He pushed himself up into a sitting position while yawning.

Hoam…

When he looked at himself, Alvaro was completely shocked.

"Whaaaaaaa! GRANDMA!!!" His panicked voice immediately called his grandmother over.

"Oh, it's already done? Hurry and get ready, wear something casual," his grandmother answered calmly from the living room.

Alvaro hurriedly stood in front of the mirror, staring at himself. His body had shrunk to around 5'5, his hair had grown longer and softer.

"Eh…"

He raised his hand, touching his cheek.

"I actually look… pretty as a girl…"

"B-but… HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET USED TO THIS?!" His mood quickly shifted, realizing this wouldn't be that easy.

Huft… calm down… it's only one year… h-haha…

He grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom to take a shower as usual.

His grandmother sat waiting in the living room, breakfast already prepared neatly on the table.

Time passed, and Alvaro came out of the bathroom, his face flushed red. Of course, who wouldn't be embarrassed, seeing their body turned into the opposite gender?

He wore a white hoodie and long pants, walking toward his grandmother. She looked at him with dissatisfaction.

You're a girl now, yet you're still dressed like a boy.

"Um… Grandma?…"

"No, you can't dress like that. Come here, I'll pick something for you."

"GRANDMA—NO! THERE'S NO WAY I'M WEARING—"

And yet, his grandmother chose a white skirt and an oversized t-shirt for him. Alvaro couldn't refuse.

"Grandma… seriously, you expect me to wear this… o-outside?" His cheeks were red.

"Yes. Don't be embarrassed. You're a girl now."

"Huft—fine…"

"Alvaro, since you are a girl now, I'll change your name to Valerie Celeste. Remember that name," his grandmother declared.

"Eeh… okay, Grandma."

Then she pointed toward the food on the table.

"Eat first before we go, Alvaro."

"Yes, Grandma," he replied, walking to the table and eating at a steady pace, careful not to choke.

After finishing, Alvaro carried his plate to the sink and washed it thoroughly until it was spotless.

"Let's go, Grandma," he said with a smile, walking at her side.

Since Alvaro was still sixteen and didn't have an ID card yet, his grandmother was the one driving.

Brmmm…

The car engine roared as she drove toward their destination.

Ciiit!

The car parked neatly, and both of them stepped out, heading toward the school for the entrance exam.

When they entered, a staff member greeted them politely.

"Welcome, please allow me to guide you to the testing room," she said with a smile, leading them inside.

Her name was Molenia. She looked at Alvaro.

"Your name is Valerie Celeste, right? Please enter the testing room," she said softly.

Alvaro smiled awkwardly and stepped inside.

"Please sit down and write today's date and your full name," Molenia instructed.

Alvaro nodded slightly, picked up a pen, and began working on the questions. There were thirty in total.

Wow… this isn't as easy as I thought.

Yehon-go School was prestigious and expensive. Many students failed the entrance test, which was why the student body wasn't that large. Still, Alvaro calmly worked on the problems, even if he wasn't sure whether his answers were correct.

Since childhood, Alvaro had always been known for his strong knowledge, often considered smart.

After completing the thirty questions, he handed the paper to Molenia.

"Finished already? That was quick," she said, taking the sheet.

"Alright, the results will be announced soon," she added.

"Thank you, ma'am," Alvaro replied shortly and walked out with his grandmother.

His grandmother turned to him.

"So? How was the test? Was it difficult?"

"Well… it was kind of tough, but I have a feeling I'll pass."

"That's good then," she answered calmly.

After that, they returned to the car, sat down, and his grandmother started driving again.

"Ah, let's stop by the supermarket first, there's something I want to buy."

"Okay, Grandma," Alvaro replied.

They headed to the supermarket. Entering inside, Alvaro carried the basket for his grandmother.

Suddenly, someone shouted:

"KIDNAPPER!!!"

Alvaro instinctively looked around and spotted a man in a black hat running while snatching a wallet. Quickly, Alvaro rushed forward, grabbing the man to stop him.

"Hand that wallet over to me." Even though he was now a girl, his voice sounded intimidating.

The man returned the wallet and quickly ran away. Alvaro walked to the wallet's owner and handed it back.

"Thank you, young one," the man said with a grateful smile.

"I'm glad I could help, sir," Alvaro replied politely, smiling before returning to his grandmother.

"Come, Alvaro" she smile proudly

"Okay Grandma"
