Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Half of the Night

"What?" For a moment, Shu Yuewu thought she'd misheard. This boy actually dared to refuse her.

Everyone was vying for her, and she hadn't just taken the initiative to ask him to take her, she'd even offered him money. This was the first time in her life. Such a good offer, and he actually... refused.

"I'll give you another chance. Just say it again."

Xia Xin was obedient and really said it again.

Shu Yuewu was immediately furious. "Okay, remember this. I was thinking I'd tell you a big secret after you agreed. Now, hmph, you're so sorry. Bye, goodbye. No, never see you again."

Shu Yuewu stomped off angrily, practically stomping the concrete pavement.

Xia Xin, of course, had his reasons. He'd always felt it was wrong to ask his classmates for money, but he needed the money and was afraid the relationship would become increasingly complicated and beyond his control, so he simply refused.

After watching Shu Yuewu leave, Xia Xin sighed deeply, almost wanting to slap himself. "Oh, why should I act so noble? I don't have any orders. We're classmates, but we haven't spoken in three years. Why not just treat us as strangers and take orders? Who cares about the rest?"

He returned to his rented building and walked up the hallway to the second floor. The dark, old hallway was dimly lit, but he could barely see anything.

Opening the door, he saw a girl in a lovely egg-yellow lace dress sitting at the round dining table in the dim light, her feet gently dangling from her tiny sandals.

Seeing Xia Xin enter, her bright, clear eyes sparkled with joy.

The corners of her rosy lips curled slightly.

"Kukuku, my half, do you know what time it is? It's long past the time for the sacrifice. Now, my thirst for blood is uncontrollable, even myself. Hehehe, if you don't offer a sacrifice, I will bring you the judgment of the devil."

Xia Xin smiled gently. "Yes, yes, dinner will be ready soon. Wait a minute. I made some extra money today, so I'm back late, but it'll help me with my meals for the next few days."

Xia Ye glanced and immediately saw chicken wings and Coke in the bag Xia Xin was carrying. Her face lit up with a smile, and she said, "Kukuku, it's worth it that I've been waiting for you here for an hour without going out to find food. Tonight's sacrifice is the angel wings of my favorite enemy. It seems like it will just fill my empty magic power. Half, you really didn't disappoint me."

This slightly immature fifth-grade girl was Xia Xin's younger sister, Xia Ye.

Ever since watching a certain vampire anime, she's been imagining herself as a vampire princess, playing role-playing games with Xia Xin. Since there's nothing much to do at home, Xia Xin often plays with her. Today, it seems, she's playing as her half, while yesterday, she was clearly the first companion.

Sacrificial offerings refer to food, and angel wings are like cola chicken wings, which she likens to an angelic delicacy.

And foraging for food means finding Xia Xin.

Xia Ye is actually quite famous in this area.

When Xia Xin came home late, Xia Ye would go out looking for him.

Her delicate, doll-like appearance, jade-like skin, and delicate features were all incredibly adorable, making her incredibly popular with the neighbors, from the convenience store lady to the butcher.

When they saw her passing by, they'd give her lollipops, eggs, cakes, and any leftover rice cakes at home.

Later, she compared going out to look for Xia Xin to foraging, because she always came back with a mountain of food.

However, Xia Xin felt it was wrong to take advantage of her neighbors and asked them not to take any. But they were so welcoming, forcing them into her hands, and she couldn't refuse. In return, Xia Ye would occasionally visit their shop as a mascot. Some customers, seeing such a cute little girl, would also come in to take a look. With Xia Ye around, their customer base would increase significantly.

The rental apartment was not large, only about 30 square meters, with a spacious living room with a few scattered pieces of furniture and a dining table. To the right was a bedroom, to the left was a small, sparsely furnished kitchen, and a small bathroom.

"Tell us about what happened today and why such an expensive angel's wing was included in the offering."

Xia Xin briefly explained the situation, but omitted the part where Shu Yuewu asked him to train for her.

Xia Ye burst into laughter. "Kukukuk, you're worthy of being my half. You don't even need to exert your full strength to deal with that slime."

"Slime..." Xia Xin silently mourned for Lu Ming. He was the class flower of Class 2, after all.

Soon, the dishes arrived: a plate of tomato and egg soup, a plate of minced meat and eggplant, and Xia Ye's favorite, cola chicken wings.

At the sight of the cola chicken wings, Xia Ye eagerly reached for his chopsticks, but Xia Xin slapped them away.

"Have you washed your hands?"

"Half, it seems you don't understand. My body has long been bathed in holy light, free from the slightest speck of dust."

Xia Xin pointed to the bathroom and said expressionlessly, "Wash your hands."

"Brother Ge, you're so annoying! It won't hurt to skip a wash."

Xia Ye puffed up her cheeks, jumped off the chair in anger, and, tapping her legs, quickly ran to the bathroom, her less than 1.5 meters tall.

"Xiaoye, remember to put hand sanitizer on me and wash it clean. If you're lazy, I'll make you wash it again."

Xia Ye's response came from the bathroom. "I know, you're so long-winded. Also, I'm not Xiaoye. My real name is Li Luoluo Huang Huanxiang Leiluota, the Queen of the Night, the Vampire Princess."

Xia Xin thought for a moment and asked an insignificant question, "Why both Queen and Princess? Can't you only have one?"

Immediately, Xia Ye replied in a panic, "Soon, so long-winded. Queen of the Night is an honor bestowed upon me by others, and Vampire Princess is my identity. Of course, you won't understand."

"...Okay."

"..."

Even elsewhere, in the dreamy pink-themed boudoir, Shu Yuewu was furious.

With a bang, she slammed the door shut and flung herself onto the soft bedding.

She stared at her legs.

"I'm so pissed off, so pissed off! That Xia Xin, what's so great about him? I only asked him to teach me because I respect him, and he's so arrogant. No one has ever dared to refuse me. Humph, what a self-righteous guy! If you don't want to take me, then don't take me. I don't care."

"Yuewu, eat!" her mother called from outside the door.

"No, I'm so angry."

Shu Yuewu took out her MacBook, lay down on the bed, angrily took a bite of the apple, and fluently logged into QQ, of course, incognito.

A row of messages from boys popped up.

Perhaps they were about trivial matters, perhaps asking her out, or making some risqué jokes.

I found a relatively sunny and handsome guy, and he texted, "Where are we going tomorrow?"

Shu Yuewu thought to herself, "Hmph, that ungrateful guy has plenty of requests for me. I'm so proud of you, and you're even the captain of the school basketball team."

I typed it, deleted it, typed it again, and deleted it again.

Feeling a bit annoyed, I simply ignored it.

Out of boredom, I scrolled through my QQ friends list again, and inexplicably opened the class group. I found Xia Xin's name and clicked on his profile. His avatar was a corny penguin, and his signature read, "Kukuku, I'm the half of the night. If you have something to say, just say it. Don't bother me with nonsense."

"Is this guy an idiot?"

Just as I was bored, I received a message from my good friend Zhu Xiaoxuan.

Xiaoxuan: "What are you doing?"

Shu Yuewu: "So annoying?"

"What are you doing? Stealing someone else's boyfriend again?"

"How can you call him a boyfriend if you steal him? I don't know what's so rare about guys like that? Besides, do you think there's a guy I can't win over?"

"Yeah, so what's bothering you then?"

"Nothing, just boring."

"Stop being boring. Let me show you a video."

"No, I know your brother is amazing. He's the captain of the Jiangnan University team. I've seen his videos a thousand times. Please don't make me watch them again."

"It's not my brother's. It's a super cool new video online. It's on the League of Legends front page. It's really, really exciting. You'll pee."

"Go ahead. See if you get wet."

Xiaoxuan sent a video link.

Shu Yuewu was bored anyway. She lay on the bed, chin propped up with one hand, biting an apple with the other, watching with boredom.

The video started with Wayne being verbally abused by his friends, but he said nothing.

"Boring! What's so interesting about this? It's so ordinary. Hmm, a thousand years at a glance? I feel like I've heard that name somewhere before."

Later, as the five opposing players sped off to chase Vayne, Shu Yuewu said disdainfully, "Another low-health escape! I've seen that before."

Then Card's ultimate, landing, yellow card, golden body, Titan's flash, ultimate, hook, and skills followed one after another.

Shu Yuewu paused halfway through her apple, her nervousness oblivious to everything else. Skills came one after another, and the lone Vayne calmly faced the entire enemy team, counter-killing them one after another amidst the vast enemy force.

This video wasn't a desperate escape, it was a solo pentace.

Seeing it was almost time, Xiaoxuan sent a question mark.

"Have you finished reading it?"

"Well, I'm just asking if you peed yourself yet. This AD is so cool! He didn't say a word in reply and just took out five opponents. His strength made all his teammates shut up."

"Isn't he handsome? I thought he was dead several times, but he just kept walking around and rolling like that, doing what they call the spiral dance, and he managed to stay alive. My brother says his positioning is so slutty and flirty. The whole team is talking about this AD. That walk-on attack is so cool, and that micro-flash, dodging Gragas's E and then attacking Graves, is so cool."

"My brother even contacted the owner of this account. Didn't their school only make the semifinals in the college league last time? If the other team is a college student, they're trying to recruit him to our school. We're short of ADs, so we have a chance to win the next league."

"But the owner of the account said he's a power leveler, someone he found online and doesn't even know who he is. What a shame."

"Xiao Wu, say something! Why aren't you talking?"

After a long pause, Shu Yuewu typed, her hands trembling.

"…Xiaoxuan, I know who this Weien is."
