Chapter 41 - Chapter 40: Liehuo, Yin-Yang Ancestor's Corpse

[You headed toward the Yang Side.]

[After an hour of walking, you encountered a monster covered in flames. Yet strangely, it didn't seem affected by the fire—as if it had been born with it.]

[Without hesitation, you killed the beast and took the treasure it guarded.]

[A month passed in much the same way, deep inside the lush green cave. The constant sound of sword clashes rang through the air, blending with a faint wisp of flame.]

[The current duel was between you and the Holy Son of Fengyun Holy Land—Liehuo.]

[Liehuo possessed a Pure Yang Holy Body, making him naturally drawn to the Yin-Yang Secret Realm.]

[You and he fought over a coveted treasure. Because of your newly developed sword style, it took considerable effort to gain the upper hand, but after many rounds of fierce combat, you eventually defeated him.]

[From the strength he displayed, you could tell he had condensed the Supreme Foundation as well.]

[Liehuo may not have a Foundation Guide like you, but luck had led him to this place at the peak of the Golden Elixir realm, enabling him to condense the Supreme Foundation of Nascent-Soul.]

[It seemed the Heavens truly favored the lucky.]

[After his defeat, you claimed the Elixir you had your eyes on and retreated to a secluded cave.]

[The Elixir was a Pure Yang Flower, a 6th-grade Saint-Grade Elixir—extremely rare, found only in places saturated with dense Yang energy.]

[It was known to strengthen blood flow and invigorate cultivation, potentially doubling your strength upon consumption.]

[Yet because your foundation was already extraordinarily strong, as you expected, it only increased your combat power by a quarter.]

[By the 60th year, five months had passed since your entry into the secret realm, but the main Trial had not yet begun. You continued to loot and wait.]

[In the sixth month, a brilliant light shot into the sky, drawing everyone's attention.]

[A week later, you arrived at the source of the light and saw a crowd gathered around a platform with a stele inscribed—the Combat Testing Stele.]

[Through inquiries, you learned that only the top three scorers in the test would be eligible to enter the core of the Yin-Yang Secret Realm and claim the treasury of the Yin-Yang Ancestor.]

[The test lasted one month, after which the stele would announce the final rankings.]

[Legends said many who entered before perished in the secret realm, and only those who possessed life-saving treasures survived. None had yet successfully taken the Yin-Yang Ancestor's treasure.]

[You decided to wait for the test's final day.]

[When the test ended, you ranked second, with Yu Rong taking first and Liehuo third.]

[There was a significant gap in the scores between you three, clearly demonstrating the difference in strength, especially highlighting Liehuo's weakness.]

[After the test concluded, a Tai-Chi diagram mark appeared on the wrists of all three of you. Simultaneously, a secret passage resonating with the mark appeared before you, signaling your eligibility to proceed.]

[You three entered together.]

[Behind you, countless emotions stirred in the hearts of the bystanders: envy, jealousy, pity… some perhaps silently wishing this would be your final journey.]

[Very few from first-rate forces knew your true identities. The present crowd obviously wasn't among them and had misjudged you.]

Inside the Secret Passage:

[Upon entering, a surreal scene unfolded before your eyes.]

[A path divided into Fire and Ice. On the icy side lay countless frozen corpses—remnants of past explorers whose minds were lost to the intense cold. On the flame side, ashes darker than charcoal were scattered everywhere—evidence of prior explorers who had perished in pursuit of treasure.]

[A virtual screen appeared, instructing you to choose one of the two paths.]

[You and Liehuo chose the path of Fire, while Yu Rong opted for the Ice path.]

[With your Great Burning Heaven Technique, even the low-grade spiritual Yang fire posed no threat to you. Unless the controller possessed a profound mastery of flames or a technique of equal level, the fire was easily overcome.]

[Likewise, the fire caused no harm to Liehuo, whose Pure Yang Holy Body gave him a strong affinity with Yang flames.]

[Yu Rong crossed the challenge with ease as well.]

[All three of you met at the end of the trial. Another virtual screen appeared, stating that the number of successful participants exceeded the examiner's expectations and that only one could claim the Yin-Yang Ancestor's treasury.]

["Talk it out?" you thought. Only strength reigned supreme in this world. Whose fist was bigger, that person would win.]

[You decided to resolve it by force.]

[Both you and Yu Rong bore determined looks, while Liehuo's face showed utter despair.]

[He knew he was the weakest, but instead of backing down, he challenged you once again. Predictably, he lost and left the secret passage willingly.]

[Now that he was gone, you and Yu Rong began your own competition.]

[After a brief skirmish, you deliberately lost and collapsed into unconsciousness.]

["Ugh, after hearing my master say you're a genius of the millennium, I expected you to be powerful. I didn't expect you to be so weak and easy to defeat. You're definitely not him. What a waste of time," she scoffed, before walking through the huge door that had appeared.]

[You followed her silently.]

[Upon entering, the chamber was empty except for a coffin placed on a platform. Inside lay the preserved corpse of the Yin-Yang Ancestor.]

[Yu Rong stepped forward and opened the coffin. As she did, a white-purple light surged into her mind—the remaining consciousness of the Yin-Yang Ancestor attempting to eradicate her soul and possess her body.]

[What the Ancestor didn't know was that it had chosen the worst possible vessel.]

[Under the assault of the Yin-Yang Ancestor's consciousness, Yu Rong used her life-saving artifact and escaped from the secret realm, leaving the corpse behind.]

[You had already anticipated this. After all, the Yin-Yang Ancestor was lustful and obsessed with life—he wouldn't die easily. This was precisely why you concealed your strength, forcing her to take the risk. Otherwise, you would have used your full power and every trump card to capture the treasure.]

[Thinking it might still be fatal to approach the coffin directly, you casually stored it in your storage space, planning to ask your master to help examine and suppress the Ancestor's consciousness.]

[You left the secret realm and soon met Yu Rong, whose master had successfully suppressed the Yin-Yang Ancestor's consciousness.]

[Your master, knowing what had happened, accompanied you on the journey back.]

[During the return, your master remarked, "Your competition with her is far from over. I'm eager to see if either of you will be able to condense the Supreme Foundation for the God-Transformation realm."]

[Perplexed by his words, you listened as he explained: "The Yin-Yang Ancestor's consciousness is suppressed within her body. It functions as a Yin-Yang Law Source, and refining it will yield the same result as refining the corpse."]

[Now everything made sense.]

[You couldn't hide your excitement for the inevitable competition to determine who would condense the Supreme Foundation for the God-Transformation realm first.]

[This expedition into the Yin-Yang Secret Realm produced two Supreme Foundations of the Nascent-Soul realm and yielded significant resources.]

[What you didn't yet know was that from this journey, not two—but three people would eventually succeeded in condensing the Supreme Foundation of Nascent-Soul.]
