As the ring gradually fills with officials, Declan finally manages to get back to his feet.
His balance is still unsteady as his team guides him back to the corner. They help him onto the stool before allowing the ring doctor to examine him.
The crowd, however, shows little concern for his condition. Some even take the opportunity to taunt Declan in heavily Japanese-accented English.
"Where's all that big talk now, Byrne?!"
"Some tough guy you are! Kenta knocked you down twice!"
"Two-time world champion, my ass!"
"You came here to put Japan in its place, didn't you?! Look at you now!"
"All that bragging, and you couldn't even beat one Japanese fighter!"
"Who's the one getting taught a lesson now, Byrne?!"
Despite their terrible accents, Declan can still make out some of their insults. But with his head still pounding and his legs weak, he can do little more than endure them.
