The IV Enhancers had already been used, and the extra experience had pushed him up to Level 2.
Next…
Kael thought for a moment and turned his attention to the system inventory.
"One thing at a time."
"Use Move Disc: Origin Pulse."
In an instant, a distant, ethereal resonance filled the underground cave. It sounded like the song of a whale rising from the depths of the ocean. The high, haunting hum echoed through the cavern.
A soft blue glow spread outward from Kael's skin, carrying the rich vitality unique to the sea. The once-dark cave was soon bathed in radiant ocean-blue light.
Kael felt an immense power that stirred something deep within his bloodline. In a form he could not fully comprehend, it seemed to cross time and space, descending upon him and merging with the faint energy of his newborn Pokémon body.
A familiar force surged to life under his control, as though he had known it since birth.
The move "Origin Pulse," a symbol of overwhelming destructive power, appeared in his system move list.
With the help of the system, Kael had now become one of only two Pokémon in the entire world capable of using the terrifying move Origin Pulse.
Of course, expecting a newborn Sobble to unleash the same world-shattering power as Kyogre would be pure fantasy.
With the tiny reserve of Water-type energy currently in his body, even firing the weakest possible beam of Origin Pulse would drain him dry in an instant.
Caution. Absolute caution.
Kael knew exactly what he was capable of. He would never attempt something so reckless.
With the experience he had accumulated across several lifetimes, he understood how to carefully control his energy output. Only when his energy reserves were sufficient would he consider truly using one of the strongest moves in the Pokémon world.
For now, Origin Pulse was little more than a decoration.
Unless he found himself in an extremely desperate situation, it would only serve as a suicidal last resort to take an opponent down with him.
"Alright…"
Kael exhaled slowly. The most important preparation he had planned was now complete.
"Next…"
His gaze shifted to the Ability Converter in his inventory, a hint of hesitation appearing in his eyes.
Changing a Pokémon's ability could sometimes transform it into its hidden "dream ability," but that was not always beneficial.
Abilities were an extremely complex concept. Even in his previous life, Kael had never fully understood all their intricacies.
Because of that, he wasn't entirely sure whether changing Sobble's ability was the right choice.
He didn't even have a clear understanding yet of Sobble's battle style or offensive tendencies. How could he judge whether Torrent was suitable or not?
After thinking for a long time, Kael finally made up his mind.
"I'll use it."
After experiencing more and more worlds through rebirth, Kael had developed a strong intuition about the system shop.
No matter how cheap or expensive an item was, anything sold there always ended up playing a significant role later in the journey. There were never useless items placed there for no reason.
He believed this time would be no different.
Even in the worst case scenario, if luck abandoned him and the conversion produced a poor ability, Kael trusted that his own strength would still allow him to overcome the disadvantage.
A typical person reborn into this world might choose to hold onto the Ability Converter for now.
They would probably wait until they fully understood Sobble's combat style before deciding whether Torrent truly needed replacing.
But Kael had a different philosophy.
In his view, a Pokémon's battle style must be established from the moment it is born, built around its core traits from the very beginning.
It was a gradual and tightly connected process. If his fighting style was interrupted midway because of an ability change, the consequences could ripple through his entire system of combat.
One misstep early on could slow everything down.
Kael would never allow something like that to undermine his foundation.
So his decision was simple.
Either he wouldn't use it at all—or if he did, he would commit from the start, no matter whether the outcome was good or bad.
"Ability Converter, activate."
Ding.
"Conversion complete."
"Torrent → Sniper."
The change happened in an instant.
Before Kael could even react, a mysterious sensation appeared in his mind.
Information about his new ability, Sniper, flowed into his awareness.
A smile slowly spread across his face.
"I guessed right."
His previous ability, Torrent, boosted the power of Water-type moves when his health dropped below a certain threshold. It was reliable and versatile, but fairly ordinary.
His new ability, Sniper, was far more distinctive.
Critical hits would deal 1.5 times the normal critical-hit damage meaning the total damage became three times greater than a regular strike.
The moment Kael saw the effect, he immediately thought of the badge he had obtained in his previous world: Dawn of the Cursed Dream.
That badge increased critical-hit damage as well, and combined with a twenty percent increase to critical-hit chance, the synergy between the two had been incredible.
Even now, just by looking at these two effects, Kael could already begin constructing a combat framework for this life.
A long-range assassin style.
A sniper build focused on stacking abilities that increased critical-hit chances, delivering devastating strikes in a single decisive moment.
It was only a rough concept, but it still filled him with excitement.
A completely new combat style and experience different from anything he had used before was exactly what he sought in the endless cycle of rebirth.
Still, he knew it was too early to finalize anything. Kael turned his attention to the last two items in his inventory.
The Dynamax Band.
And the Cosmic DNA of Deoxys (Speed Forme).
The first item was still slowly charging and couldn't be used yet, so he didn't focus on it.
But the second one…
Kael's eyes lit up as he stared at it in the system equipment panel.
"Cosmic DNA."
Compared to ordinary equipment, it sounded more like some microscopic substance something invisible to the human eye.
And in truth…
That was exactly what it was.
