Kai swallowed. His throat felt dry and his entire body is shaking like he about to pass out
"Damn it… what do we do now…?"
In front of them stood something terrifying. The orc looked like a wall of flesh. It was so tall that it covered the trees behind it. Its gray skin was rough, and its muscles were huge. Every breath it took made white smoke in the cold air. Each step shook the ground, like the whole forest was afraid.
Mike shake his head
"I… don't know…"
Mike held his knife tightly. His hand was shaking.
"What do we do…? How can we run from that thing…?"
The orc growled. Its red eyes locked on them. It was not in a hurry. It walked slowly, like a hunter who knew its prey could not escape.
"No more time to think… we have to do something… anything…" kai look like he trying to find a solution
Duke looked around quickly, breathing fast. His mind tried to find even a small chance to survive.
Then suddenly…
"Follow me!" Duke shouting at kai and mike
Before anyone could react, Duke ran straight toward the orc.
Kai panic
"What the hell are you doing!? Do you want to die!?"
Duke did not look back, he just keep rushing toward that monster
" Just do it!"
They had no choice. Kai and Mike forced their injured bodies to follow him.
"Aim for its legs!" Duke pointed
All three attacked the orc's legs. They cut again and again. The wounds were small, but dark blood started to flow.
"AHHHHHHH!"
The orc roared in anger. It lifted its foot and slammed it down.
BOOM!
The ground cracked. Dirt and rocks flew everywhere.
"Watch out!" Mike screaming while trying to dodge away from the death stomp
They rolled away just in time. The force of the attack made their ears ring.
"It's angry now…" kai worry
Mike breathing heavily
"So… it's working?"
Duke use his hand to wipe away all the sweat mixed with blood on his face
"It's too big…so attacking the leg is our best option… but…"
"But what!?" Mike asked
Duke look at kai and mike
"But that all we could do"
Duke clenched his teeth.
"We can't beat it…we have to find a way to distract it… then escape when it loses focus…"
Kai looked at his bleeding arms and legs.
"But… can we even run like this…?"
"If we don't try, we die." Duke said
The orc turned and charged at them.
Kai forced himself forward. Duke and Mike followed. They attacked, dodged, and rolled again and again. Every step from the orc almost killed them.
Kai: This is bad… my wounds…
The more I move… the weaker I get…
Finally, they moved away and stopped, breathing heavily.
"This won't work…we're just making it angrier" kai said
Duke suddenly froze. He stared at the orc, then looked at the goblins nearby.
"That… strange…"
"What now!?" Mike said with the exhaustive tongue
Duke took a deep breath.
"I see… you're not stupid, are you?"
The orc roared and looking straight to them.
"Duke! It's looking at us! I think it about to coming!" Mike shouted
Kai sweat running through his face like he getting shower
What now!?
Duke eye lock on to the bushes behind the orc
"We need to get through it"
Kai and mike face turn into confusion when they heard those words
"Are you crazy!?"
"Why are we going there!?"
Duke looking back at them with an eye filled with determination
"Trust me!"
Kai and mike stay silent for few second and then nodded forcefully, They moved to the side, avoided the orc
Duke pointing at some goblins hiding in the bushes
"Grab one of them!"
They rushed into the goblins and grabbed one. The orc turned and raised its fist…
Then it stopped.
Duke held an arrow at the goblin's neck.
"You're different from normal goblins….I knew something was strange when they bowed to you."
The orc growled.
Duke: Even when we attacked you, they didn't move. They're afraid of you…and you afraid to something…something…
Duke narrowed his eyes.
"You're some kind of….commander right?"
Duke smile tiredly
"I realized that…you've always tried not to hit these little devilish friends of your when you were attacking us…..caring about your tropes? Heh…no… how can a monster like you having that kind of feelings"
Then Duke stabbed the goblin and threw its body at the orc, he turn around.
"Mike, Kai! Now!"
Kai threw the last bottle of oil at the orc.
Mike pull out a scroll then he aiming it at the giant monster
"Light up!"
A small spark appeared.
Then…
A huge fire start out of nowhere
Flames covered the orc's body. It screamed in pain and moved wildly, trying to put out the fire.
"AHHHHHHHHH!"
Without stopping, the three turned and ran. They used all their remaining strength.
Only when they could no longer hear the roar did they stop. Pain hit them hard.
Kai fell to his knees under a tree, breathing uncontrollably.
"We…we make it…?"
Mike collapse on the ground then let out a heavy sigh
"Are we… alive…?"
Duke leaned against a tree and smiled tiredly.
"Your…..welcome"
