Kael knocked once and entered the sovereign's chamber.
The old man looked up from the scrolls spread before him.
Kael stopped in front of the desk, breath steady but eyes burning. "Grandfather, we need to talk."
The sovereign leaned back in his chair. "I can see that. What's happened? Where's the King?"
"Thornak's occupied," Kael said. "He's dealing with... something."
"Then what brings you here looking like you've marched through hell?"
Kael dropped the letters onto the desk. "This."
The sovereign frowned, reaching for it. "What is this."
"Read it," Kael said.
The old man's eyes moved over the words. The color drained from his face. His hands trembled slightly as he lowered the letter. "What is this, Kael?" he demanded, rising from the desk.
"I'm trying to figure that out myself," Kael said tightly.
