Back in Vargorath...
Thornak was in a meeting with his elders.
"...and if the western front falls," one of the generals from the northern kingdom was saying, "...we'll have to reroute the supply chain through...."
But Thornak couldn't hear the rest.
A soft, unnatural light began to appear at the doorway.
Thornak rose so suddenly his chair scraped hard against the stone floor. Every head in the chamber turned toward him, startled.
The council followed his gaze, but saw nothing.
Uneasy murmurs filled the air.
"My King… what is it?" one of the generals asked, glancing toward the doorway.
Thornak didn't answer. His golden eyes were fixed on the spot where the light was. Although no one else could see her, the Guardian stood there.
"Your Majesty…" someone began.
Thornak lifted a hand, silencing him without a word, his golden eyes locked on the figure who had appeared.
