Kael's eyes hardened. "Seize them," he ordered his men. "Give them twenty lashes each, then let them cool of in the dungeon for a while."
The two guards faces went pale as the soldiers stepped forward.
Lara looked at the princes with gratitude.
"Thank you," she said quietly.
"Don't worry," he replied. "No one will touch you while we're here."
She nodded and managed a small smile.
"Now, you need to come with us," Aedric said. We'll take you somewhere safe."
Behind him, Lara saw Mira and Liam appear. Liam quickly run to her looking confused.
They rode through the night. Soon, they reached the quiet village where Seralyn lived.
The place was heavily guarded as Thornak's men stood watch along every path leading in or out.
That night, as Lara sat on the edge of her bed, her hands clasped tightly together, her thoughts drifted to Thornak. She hoped her mate was safe.
He must be in danger if the guardian is taking this long to locate him.
