Link was in a bit of a bind.
The Hero of Time had prevented the fall of Hyrule. Only for him to get jumped by people he didn't see and then he was thrown up in a black bag. Link didn't know where he was headed, where he was being taken, but he fought and struggled the whole way back. As a young man in another future, the Hero of Time had braved caverns and citadels that would have broken most men stronger than him. Here unarmed in this idyllic present, he was no match for his kidnappers.
He only saw the light of day again back at Lake Hylia.
