Chapter 64 - Chapter 62: Captain Marvel Offline

In the black void, Carol shone like a star, cosmic energy blazing. She crossed her arms, forming a radiant energy sphere. "You killed Nick! You'll pay!"

James floated, expressionless, raising a hand in a "come on" gesture.

Boom! Carol unleashed a planet-shattering energy wave, a blinding pillar tearing through the dark. The Avengers shielded their eyes, Tony's armor blaring, "Sir, energy exceeds limits! Evacuate!"

As the light dimmed, jaws dropped. James caught the blast with one hand, a golden bio-field absorbing it effortlessly.

"Impossible…" Carol whispered.

"Your power," James's voice echoed in her mind via telepathy, "comes from the Space Stone. Mine…" He vanished, reappearing before her, "…comes from the sun itself!"

His punch was simple but cataclysmic. Carol's cosmic shield shattered like glass, the blow sending her streaking through space in a golden arc.

She stabilized, golden blood at her lips, cosmic energy healing her. "What are you?" she gasped.

James didn't answer, his eyes flaring with unprecedented gold. Solar flare energy surged, distorting cosmic radiation around him.

The Avengers felt dread. Banner trembled. "His energy's growing exponentially!"

Carol drew more cosmic power, her body turning translucent, merging with the universe. "Ultimate Photon Blast! Die!"

A hair-thin, hyper-condensed beam shot out, cracking space itself. It struck James's chest—and did nothing.

"What?!" Carol gaped.

Golden light flowed under James's skin, liquid sunlight. He raised his hands, a miniature sun forming. "Carol Danvers," his voice boomed like an oracle, "you claim to police the stars yet allow aliens to infiltrate Earth. Today, you learn true power."

The sun drifted forward, slow but instantaneous. Carol tried to dodge but was locked by an unseen force. "No!"

White light consumed all. When it cleared, Carol floated, her suit shredded, her glow flickering like a dying candle, consciousness fading.

"I could've ignored you," James's voice echoed in her mind, "but you wanted me dead."

He touched her forehead, a golden flash. "Sleep. Be better next life."

Carol's body went limp, floating lifelessly. James's heat vision vaporized her, leaving nothing.

The Avengers were silent. Tony's helmet hid his shock. "He just crushed Captain Marvel? One-sided?"

Adam's eyes flickered. "What are we fighting?"

Wanda flew to James, watching Carol's ashes scatter. "Now what?"

James scanned the broken station. "We find the remaining Skrulls and end this invasion."

He opened a portal to Tony's villa lab, turning to Adam. "Guard this station. Prevent Skrull rebellion."

Adam opened his mouth but nodded. "Understood."

James stepped through, boots ringing on the lab floor. He waved, activating holograms, data streaming. "Jarvis, pull Skrull bio-data."

Tony whistled, tossing off a damaged gauntlet. "This is my lab, right?"

Banner approached a console, eyes sharp. "Their cells are highly plastic. Gamma scans could—"

"Too slow," James cut in, eyes glowing. "We need global real-time detection."

His super brain raced, fingers blurring on the holographic keyboard. Tony and Banner joined, syncing perfectly.

"Polarization refraction variance…" Tony snapped his fingers.

"Quantum resonance!" Banner added.

James injected golden energy into the model. "And this."

Twenty minutes later, silver-gray wristband detectors lined the table. Natasha twirled one. "Incredible."

Clint fitted one to his bow. "These can really spot green-skins?"

"Two-kilometer radius," Banner confirmed. "Jarvis is mass-producing."

James tapped his watch. "Turing, leak the Skrull invasion to all media and dark web."

"Executed, sir," Turing replied. "Wall Street Journal and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s intranet are reporting."

James closed his eyes, super vision sweeping Earth. "Found them."

He opened his eyes. "North Africa, Sahara, 300 meters underground. Fury's refuge is their base."

Tony suited up. "Rhodes and I will sweep New York and D.C. Banner, agents—"

"I'm hitting their nest," James interrupted, nano-armor forming, golden veins glowing. "Wanda's with me."

Tony raised an eyebrow. "Just you two?"

James smirked. "Not enough?"

He opened a portal to a scorching desert, sand dunes stretching endlessly. Wanda followed, red hair dancing in the heat.

Tony tossed a wristband through. "Take this!"

James caught it. Heat waves shimmered, sand twisting. Wanda's chaos magic formed a barrier, blocking the heat.

"There," James pointed at a dune, eyes glowing. Heat vision blasted, vaporizing sand, revealing a metal door.
