Chapter 2 - Laws that Bind

School wasn't exactly my favorite place.

But even with all my powers, I still had to show up.

Ren and I walked together through the bustling streets, the usual noise of morning traffic blending with distant conversations about the latest space-time quake. Everyone was used to them now — at least, they tried to be.

The ground trembled faintly beneath our feet, just a reminder that the planet was still fragile.

We reached the school gates just as the bell rang. Kids flooded inside like waves, chatting and laughing, some casting casual glances at me and Ren, either in awe or fear. Neither of us cared much.

Class started quickly. I took my usual seat by the window, watching the clouds shimmer oddly, bending around some unseen force. It was the aftermath of the quake — the space-time ripple still lingering.

Mr. Hashimoto, our math teacher, began explaining vectors and transformations, but I couldn't focus. The numbers and formulas felt trivial compared to what I knew.

Before long, my eyelids grew heavy. I rested my head on the desk, and sleep claimed me quietly.

---

Even when I'm asleep, my mind never truly stops.

Because everything — everything in this world — follows laws. Real, fundamental laws.

Gravity pulling us down. Fire burning upward. Time flowing forward.

Logic itself — the rules that say what's true or false, possible or impossible.

Even dimensionality — the very space we live in, and the hidden layers beyond — all governed by their own laws.

Most people live without realizing these laws exist. They take them for granted, like breathing or blinking.

But I see them. I feel them. Like invisible threads connecting everything, shaping what can or cannot happen.

And with my ability — Lawbreaker — I can transend these laws,Any kind of law can be transcended.

It's not just a power. It's a way of seeing the world that no one else has.

Sometimes, that makes simple things like math class feel... pointless.

---

A sudden noise jolted me awake — Mr. Hashimoto's voice calling my name.

"Amamiya! Care to share your answer?"

I blinked and sat up. The class watched. Ren smirked.

"I'm... ready," I said, walking to the board. "The transformation matrix for a 90-degree rotation counterclockwise is..."

I wrote the matrix from memory, my mind sharp despite my nap.

Mr. Hashimoto nodded slowly. "Correct."

Returning to my seat, I caught Ren's amused glance.

"Show-off," he whispered.

I just smiled.

---

Even as the sky cleared and the world seemed to settle back into its usual rhythm, I couldn't shake the feeling that the rules beneath everything were more fragile than they appeared. Laws that seemed absolute might still have cracks—hidden places where reality wasn't quite as fixed as everyone believed. And with my ability, I was always aware of those cracks, even if no one else was.
