The Grimoire Tower Ritual
Age of Awakening: At age 7, every child in the Solmaria Kingdom is taken to the sacred Grimoire Tower, a towering ancient structure located at the heart of the capital.
The Ceremony: Under the watch of Grimoire Sages, the grimoire tower is opened once in a year. The grimoire would choose its wielder, it may select any body from the age group of seven years or more. But many a times, many adults don't get chance of getting selected though applying for ceremony many times.
The grimoire that appears is always of Faded Grey, symbolizing untapped potential.
It floats before the chosen child and bonds with them, becoming their lifelong magical partner.
How Grimoires Work
A grimoire holds spells, incantations, and mana diagrams, but many of these remain locked until the wielder grows in strength, wisdom, and emotion.
Through training, emotional growth, and experience, the grimoire begins to awaken.
After a long period of consistent practice, it undergoes a Color Revelation – a one-time transformation that reveals the individual's true magical potential and future limits.
The Nine-Tier Color Ranking System
This color tier reflects both mana purity, mental focus, and innate magical affinity. It only changes once — no one can surpass their grimoire's color tier once it's revealed.

⚪ Faded Grey
Pre-Rank Unawakened – all Grimoires begin here. Universal
🟤 Earthen Brown [Tier 1 ]
Simple combat mages. It is the most common among the people of a nation.
🔵 Sky Blue [Tier 2]
Wind, water, and travel-related magic. Agile and fast users. It is basic Grimoires.
🟢 Verdant Green [Tier 3]
Nature, healing, and plant-based magic. Connected with spirits. The user can get small jobs in cities.
🔴 Crimson Red [Tier 4]
Fire-based, combat-heavy magic. Passion-driven mages. The user gets respect from others and have chance of getting accepted to serve noble families.
🟣 Amethyst Purple [Tier 5]
Illusions, curses, and spiritual magic. Requires mental strength. It is a rare grimoire. Its user can easily get accepted for senior officer in royal guards. They get the opportunity to serve royal family.
⚫ Obsidian Black [Tier 6] Shadow, forbidden, and ancient arts. High mental and emotional toll. It is very rare grimoire. Its user are good for assassination jobs.
🟡 Radiant Gold [Tier 7] Light magic, divine spells, aura reinforcement. Few ever reach this. It is the most rare grimoire. Usually there are only one or two users in a whole country. They are given utmost respect.
🌈 Prismatic (Rainbow) [Tier 8 (Mythic)]
Universal affinity. Control over all elements. Born once in centuries. It is legendary grimoire. But it is believed to be a legend.
Once the Grimoire reveals its true color, it also unlocks the core path the user is meant to pursue.
🔥 Growth Mechanics
The Faded Grey Grimoire will absorb energy, emotions, mana exposure, and battle experience.
When enough progress is made, the wielder will face a "Resonance Event", a magical surge where the Grimoire's true color is revealed.
This event often occurs during life-threatening experiences, moments of emotional breakthrough, or deep meditation.
It is said the Grimoire sings during this event — a sound only the wielder can hear.
🛡️ Combat and Utility
Each grimoire is unique to its user. The spells within depend on:
Their affinity (element, type)
Their emotional state
Their training and environment
Grimoires grow with the user, revealing new spells over time. User can develop their grimoire with practice and hard work, like Crimson Red (Fire) users may develop into "Lava," "Explosive," or "Blue Flame" categories based on their training.
🏆 Cultural Significance
The Color Reveal is a national celebration in Solmaria. Citizens gather each year to witness young prodigies awaken.
High-tier colors like Amethyst, Obsidian or Gold often determine who gets to enroll in elite magic academies, military corps, or become Royal Advisors.
